A Few Words on Volunteering Dale Sutherland
One of the hardest parts of giving your time to a good cause is making sure you feel like you are not wasting your time. Often, when you’re serving behind the scenes, no one really says thank you.
Most people you help don’t even know that you helped them. So, it requires a couple of things to be a good volunteer. More importantly, it requires a specific thing to be a happy volunteer: perspective.
Your perspective on why you serve is as critical as the service you give. Sometimes when we serve, we can tell our own thoughts are focused on the thanks of the people, more than the service we give.
How do we improve our perspective?
Know that God sees what you doing and will never forget. Hebrews 6:10 says, “He will not forget the work you have done.” Long after people forget, and even you forget, God will not forget. Know in due time He will reward you. Galatians 6:9 says, “Do not be weary in well doing due time God will reward you.”
