God is the key to making it through hard times. When God created human beings, He created us to have a relationship with Him. Many of the stories in the Scriptures are built around proving to human beings that God is reliable and He can help us through storms. God’s word is clear. Biblical authors have communicated clearly that God is the One and only who is truly faithful. Paul told the church in Corinth, after listing the difficulties in his own life, that God is the God of all comfort. God created comfort and God gives comfort. However, there is another thing to remember: People who ignore Him will miss out on getting His help. A great statement made by James, the brother of Jesus, “you have not because you ask not.” (James 4:2) If you read the fourth chapter of Mark, in the story of Jesus calming the storm, you will get a picture of how the Lord Jesus loves to bring calm in the middle of the worst of trials. pray that as you read this passage, you will go to Him, ask Him for help, give Him your heart, ask Him to take full control of your life, and trust Him for your personal salvation. On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking into the boat, so that the boat was already filling. But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” (Mark 4:35-41) He is so loving and so willing to hear those who are willing to turn from their old life and give Him control over their lives. The real way to traverse the difficulties of this life is by making Him your Lord and Savior.
