/ Michael HSU The Rose Family Lecture
Michael Hsu, FAIA, IIDA founded Michael Hsu Office of Architecture (MHOA), a fully integrated architecture and interior design firm, in 2005. Following graduation from the UT Austin School of Architecture, Hsu worked at OMA in the Netherlands before returning to Austin where he has practiced since 1998. Hsu is a member of the University of Texas School of Architecture’s Advisory Council. He is also a Past President of AIA Austin, which honored his firm as its 2016 Firm of the Year. MHOA was formed with the goal of producing locally engaged, designdriven architecture and interiors that unite people through design. The firm advocates a simple, edited design palette, using creative materials and techniques to create unexpected results. The work is rooted in hospitality and placemaking with diverse projects that include large mixed-use developments, adaptive reuse projects, public realm design, architectural branding, single family homes, hotels, restaurants, workspaces, and bespoke furniture design. The firm has several projects in Dallas, including the Terminal at Katy Trail, which is currently under construction. Notable built projects include the Uchi family of restaurants, South Congress Hotel, Montrose Collective, MKT, LINE Austin Hotel and Shake Shack’s corporate headquarters. MHOA’s outstanding body of work has received numerous national and regional design awards. hsuoffice.com
