Hi. Dallas here. This is basically my editorial as the contents of this special issue have been mainly driven by me. Firstly, an apology for the delay for Issue Two of Trap Street plus an explanation about this special issue of Trap Street that has appeared out of nowhere. As Series Ten was being screened I was asked by the Doctor Who Club of Australia (DWCA) to arrange to do a survey for them on Series Ten as I had previously done other surveys for the club. After I had been working on it for a couple of weeks, the DWCA decided that it was not going to go ahead with a survey. Anyway I had done a lot of preparations for doing a survey and did not feel like throwing them away. So I decided, in agreement Roger Reynolds, my co-editor, to do the survey under the auspices of Trap Street and publish the results as part of issue two. The survey received a large number of responses, just under 300, but what I had not counted on was the huge number of comments and their quality. Plus, just as the survey was about to go out, Jodie Whittaker was announced as the 13th Doctor, so I added extra questions to the survey to explore people’s initial reactions to this announcement. I realised that to do the survey justice it could not all be crammed into a single issue of Trap Street. I thus decided that it would be no trouble to do a separate Trap Street Special and put back issue two until the end of October. A summary of this survey with graphs, etc. will be included in Trap Street Issue Two.
The comments included here are listed in alphabetical order based on the first letter of the comment so as not to have all positive comments in one spot and all negative in another. The only comments not included were those consisting of the single word ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ and those that included obscenities (yes, regrettably there were a few). Any Australians who entered and provide either their postal or email address went into a draw for three prizes. The prizes are: First prize – Series 10 part 1 Blu-Ray; Second Prize – box of Zygon miniatures from Warlords; Third Prize – Dalek Noticeboard. The winners are: first place Richard Harrison (Vic), second place Tina Robinson (NSW) and third place Emily Larsen (Qld). The section on "Characters, Aliens and Enemies" needs a bit of clarification. In hindsight I should have provided more information. The definition of an enemy (note singular) means that alien races are not an enemy thus Mondasian Cybermen and Ice Warriors aren't an enemy of the Doctor. For a character (note singular) again no Ice warriors or Movellans. Characters thus exclude the Doctor, his companions or his enemies. They can be classified as being one of the rest of the credited cast. Any comments about this special issue or Issue One of Trap Street please send them to: editors@drproductionsaus.org so we can include them in Issue Two.

"Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 6.73 which equates as "Good". This was higher than both 'Smile' and 'Knock Knock' which indicates that people probably liked the plot of this story better than 'Knock Knock', "Very Good" was the favourite choice, as 'Knock Knock' scored higher for fawhilst the average was 6.66 which equates as "Good" and is nearly exactly vourite story of the season. the same as the average for 'Smile'. 2g) Rate the plot of ‘Empress of This would indicate that the plot was Mars’ not something that made people like Very Good 77 this story.

"Very Good" was the favourite choice for this story, whilst the average was 7.41 which equates as "Good". This was "Very Good" was the favourite choice, the second highest average for the plot whilst the average was 7.37 which of a story, just edging out 'Oxygen' and equates as "Good". This seems to conis more than likely the reason why it firm that the plot was one of the factors was overall very well liked. I did a that made it squeak in as the second quick look at the age break-down for most liked story of the series. The high- the question and it does appear to coner number of "Excellence's" was probfirm the suggestion that the older fans ably a reason why this story's average liked the plot of this story more than for its plot was fairly high. the younger fans. 6

"Very Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 7.1 2 which equates as "Good". Checking the results for the three ratings shows that people felt that the characters for this story were better than the plot. Plus it was just a bit more liked in way of the characters than was 'Knock Knock'.

"Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 6.52 which equates as "Good". 'Smile' received the lowest rating for characters of all the stories, lower than even its rating for the plot. So it can be said that its poor showing could mainly be due to people not liking its characters. Yet 'Smile' was not the lowest liked story of the season and with the results for the next rating on production we will see possibly the reason why.
"Magnificent" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was an impressive 8.37 which equates as "Very Good". Obviously being such a run-away winner in question 1 it was expected that people would vote it "Magnificent" for this question and when you compare its results for the other two options, in regard how to rate this story, it is clear that the plot just edges out characters and production as the reason why this story was so much more popular than the rest. 7

"Very Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 7.1 6 which equates as "Good". With this result for characters 'Thin Ice' stayed at the top of the pack, just behind second and third placed stories 'Oxygen' and 'Empress of Mars'. So it looks like the quality of its characters was very similar to the quality of its plot and thus kept it in fourth place overall.
71 47 43 27 26 23 10 3 5 1 20
"Very Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 7.24 which equates as "Good". This result indicates that the characters for this story were probably not the main reason that it did so well. Maybe with most of the characters in spacesuits it can be hard for viewers to connect with them.
3d) Rate the characters of ‘Knock Knock’
3f) Rate the characters of ‘Extremis’ / ‘The Pyramid at the End of the World’ / ‘The Lie of the Land’
"Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 7.08 which equates as "Good". This was a much better showing for 'Knock Knock' in this category, than for plot category, but still its rating for characters was less than that for 'The Pilot' which finished just behind 'Knock Knock' in the overall story rating for Series Ten.
"Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 6.80 which equates as "Good". This was the second lowest average for characters only losing out to 'Smile', but unfortunately it did have the largest number of "Abysmal" votes. So its plot and characters looks like it is the main reason it did so poorly in the story poll.

"Very Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 7.43 which equates as "Good". It is quite clear with this result that it is the characters that really made 'Empress of Mars' stand out. Unfortunately the quality of the production values for 'Oxygen' in the end lead to it being voted the second best story. This rating for the characters is well above all other stories except for the final two-parter.
78 75 47 19 18 11 4 3 2 2 19
"Magnificent" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 8.30 which equates as "Very Good". This rating for characters was only a very small difference for that of the rating of the story for plot. Anyhow the figures for the two-part final were significantly higher for all three categories and no one particular category stood out.
3h) Rate the characters of ‘The Eaters of Light’
4a) Rate the production values (e.g. SFX, direction, music) of 'The Pilot'
"Very Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 7.07 which equates as "Good". With this result it can be confidenty surmised that the characters of 'The Eaters of Light' were the most enjoyable aspect of this story but what let it down so much was that it was the least favourite story overall for the series in the category of production values.
"Very Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 7.53 which equates as "Very Good". All the ratings for production values for all the stories were higher than the other two categories. So it seems that people found the quality of production the best thing about Series Ten. 'The Pilot' for this category kept its position towards the bottom of the pack.

"Very Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 7.61 which equates as "Very Good". This story emerged from the pack to be the top story in regard production values for the bottom five stories. Thus it appears its production quality meant that it did not come last overall.
"Very Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 7.56 which equates as "Very Good". A good result for 'Knock Knock' beating three other stories, which shows that its production values along with its characters made up for its relatively poor showing in the plot department.

"Very Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 7.79 which equates as "Very Good". This rating figure appears to confirm that the quality of the production values in 'Thin Ice' is the reason why this story did so well, as it was a clear fourth overall as favourite story and third overall as for the rating of production values for a story.
61 55 46 30 24 21 6 2 2 0 31
"Very Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 7.81 which equates as "Very Good". This rating figure is the major reason that 'Oxygen' ended up beating 'Empress of Mars' for best story despite 'Empress of Mars' having better rating figures for both plot and characters. It must be that people like spaceships! 10

"Very Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 7.53which equates as "Very Good". This story's production rating was less than that of 'Smile' and this appears to be the reason why it was the lowest rated story of the series, despite it doing better than 'Smile' in regard ratings for plot and characters.
"Very Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 7.48 which equates as "Good". This is the lowest figure of all the stories for production values for the series but its much better ratings for its plot and characters, saw the three-part story just edge out 'Smile' as third lowest story of the series overall.

"Magnificent" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 8.46 which equates as "Very Good", just a smidgen under "Excellent" and the highest rating for any story for any category. All three categories were well ahead and thus it is easy to see why it was chosen as best story of the series.
"Very Good" was the favourite choice, whilst the average was 7.75 which equates as "Very Good". The lower rating for production, compared to 'Oxygen' is more than likely the reason that 'Oxygen' piped 'Empress of Mars' to be the second best story of the series. 11

be made. Nardole / Doctor relationship as well as there are a few companions before Bill Potts. Kay Ross Vic Best season in years. Ken McRae SA Bill should never have been ‘saved’ by the Pilot alien. Should have stayed dead or as a Cyberman. Fraser Qld Boring, predictable, the Doctor is too self-congratulatory, not an intelligent show any more. Ryan Danes UK Brilliant Series 10, was really great. Brilliant finale that definitely summed the season up perfectly. Connor Pullinger SA Did not like these episodes much. Julienne Vic Didn't get into series 10. Saying that, Bill bought a bit of a spark back to the series. Wasn't a fan of Nardole. Generally poor writing, and overall lacklustre. Emily Larsen Qld Dreary series with so much missed potential. Derek Qld 'Empress of Mars' was a marvel for us older fans, with little treats for us all. Return of the Ice Warriors, cameo from Alpha Centauri… with the added bonus of First Men In The Moon (Mars) and Zulu … absolute magic from Mark Gatiss. Stephen Planson UK 'Empress of Mars' was my favourite story because it reminded me of old style Doctor Who. I could have actually envisioned it being split into a 4 or 6 part story. Alison Fairclough Vic Enjoyable series! Reg Dare NSW 'Extremis' is excellent as a standalone episode. The rest of the three-parter is entertaining, but nowhere near as inventive and foreboding as this episode on its own. Niall Doran Tas From a low base, this was the best Moffat season. John Fulbrook SA Good music! Kish Vic Great Sci Fi story. Ian UK I don't rate production values… But, for the most part, that is one very positive thing. Most of the episodes *look* good. Ian Stewart Vic
The Doctor Falls 92 World Enough and Time 57 Empress of Mars 27 Oxygen 24 Thin Ice 17 Knock Knock 9 Smile 9 The Pilot 9 Extremis 8 The Pyramid at the End of the World 8 The Eaters of Light 7 The Lie of the Land 3
'Empress of Mars' swaps with 'Oxygen' when we compare favourite episode with favourite story. It is clear that 'The Lie of the Land' is the reason that people did not like the three-part middle story. The reason the final story did so well is that it had a good first part and an even better second part.
6) Do you have any comments on this section?
A disappointing season that lacked punch. Even the return of classic series villains didn't have the wow factor of previous seasons. Jamie Hilliard SA A little annoyed by the usual stereotype of the lesbian characters. Bron Vic A strong series that while never reaching the high heights of Series 9, was incredibly consistent in quality. Bill was a delight, and Nardole used very well. Alan Russell Vic All episodes were excellent but 'Empress of Mars' really stood out for me. Sam Deimmond Qld Always looking forward to seeing the new series. Rai Akers Qld As the season progressed all aspects improved. Unfortunately it was disjointed in the early episodes. There are a lot of questions left unanswered. The feel that there is a season missing. The 12th Doctor's university years, there are quite a few adventures that could 12
I felt that 'Empress of Mars' catered well to both new and old fans. Gregory Long NSW I found it difficult to separate my feelings on plot, characters and production values for each story. I think it would be much easier to just give an overall rating. Tom Norquay NSW I found the music extremely overwhelming with 11th Doctor. It really was over the top, ruining my enjoyment of those seasons… so this series with 12th Doctor was so much more enjoyable! Perfect Katie Tapp Vic I have been really loving how the BBC has been using more physical effects again, for example using model spaceships rather than CGI ones. They just feel so much more real. Izzy von Lichtan Tas I have loved all of the Peter Capaldi years. Lee-Gwen Booth NSW I haven't rated any because I actually like them all, and watch to enjoy the show as an entirety. Louisa WA I just want it back to adventures and creatures, mystery and mayhem, not so many dramatic lectures. Margaret Ingham Qld I like it, this Survey. Tony Vic I love Doctor Who… to me, it's all great. Yolanda WA I loved Bill in this season. Her banter with the Doctor was amazing and to me it gave a fresh new companions eyes to see through. Loved Pearl’s portrayal of Bill. Debb Vic I loved how this season had call backs from the past, and how the first episode linked to the last with that tear. I also love how the season set up for the coming of the 13th Doctor and had discussion of gender politics and had Missy come to be good (in her own version of it). My only sadness is that Bill was only there for one season, she was one of the bright stars that the Doctor was looking for. An added note: I love the Wizard of Oz nods; Tin Men, Scarecrows. Lisa Cook SA
I loved that they brought back the Ice Warriors! The original Ice Warriors from Jon Pertwee years. They hinted at the episode in the beginning of the Matt Smith series which I thought was brilliant. All up I found Capaldi's final season satisfying. I've been dedicated to Who for more than 12 years, which is more than half my life, and I believe he will definitely be a Doctor to remember forever. Melinda Brown NSW I really like them all. Janine Morrell Qld I really loved Peter and Pearl in this series. Getting rid of Clara was the best thing. It really gave Peter a chance to be the Doctor he can be. Dyan Henry NSW I think overall the basic plots have been rather poor. Mark Corben NSW I would say that Series 10 of Doctor Who had a good but unmemorable start, a bad middle ('Extremis' was well-acted and eerie but had very little momentum or consequence, and 'The Lie of the Land' was a contrived waste of its own setting and themes) and a great ending. Series 10 was perhaps Capaldi's weakest season overall, but Capaldi is still in fine, affable yet severe form. Bill is a fantastic new companion and the series was overall very well-produced and engaging. And in 'World Enough And Time' and 'The Doctor Falls', Capaldi delivers his greatest ever performance as the Doctor. Michelle Gomez and John Simm are an exemplary double-act as the Master, and the twin episodes are superbly paced, visually inventive and driven by outstanding writing from Moffat and more tour-de-force direction from Rachel Talalay. Like I said, Series 10 is Capaldi's weakest overall series, and probably Moffat's fourth-best in terms of quality, but its finale is by far his best finale as showrunner. Seth Lukas Hynes Vic It was a pretty consistent series of Doctor Who overall. Phillip Nicholls Vic 13
It was an interesting and dark story well told and acted – it felt very much like an episode from the classic era. Patrick Moore SA I've struggled to like Capaldi's Doctor. Anthony NSW Just that it was difficult with the Monk trilogy – I liked the first episode a lot, but my appreciation declined with each episode – 'Lie of the Land', while I initially liked it, rapidly lost its appeal once I thought about it. Matt Cardier Qld Loved the scary return of the Cybermen especially the design and voices "I waited". Ice Warriors were well done too. Some great / scary ideas across the season except wasn't a fan of the water pilot thing. Bill was a very likeable companion throughout. This season was by far Peter's best overall season. Ashley Knighton SA Loved this Series. Lauren Meagher NSW More John Simm! Cate Morgan NSW Most stories required too much suspension of disbelief to see past the gaping plot holes. Russ Qld My criticism of the characters in 'Smile' was of the guest characters (who were dreadful) not of the Doctor and Bill who were excellent. Steve Hyde ACT Nope not really but I do feel the writing was pushing a lot of female movement on us and I didn’t like it also the stories’ had plot holes everywhere unfortunately Peter didn’t get his good season he need badly if only Russell T wrote for Peter boy wouldn’t that been amazing :) Aaron NSW Not really. I just loved the Doctor since I was a child. Tex Stone Vic Overall it was a great season – my only frustration is that Bill didn't stay dead… aaaahhhh! Moff!!! Let people die!!! It's simply not fair or respectful to them as characters! Matthew Fazakerley SA
Peter Capaldi has been ill served by Steven Moffat and the production team. It is a shame that an actor who has a genuine love for the show was treated in such an appalling off-hand manner. Where was the character of the 12th Doctor, how will he be remembered? I hoped Season 10 would be a great, but it wasn't. Steven Moffat ran out of ideas years ago. There is no excitement, no life in the show. A lot of talk with good SFX isn't compelling. So many of the stories this season were just plain stupid and illogical. Sure they looked good and were ooh er… so 'shocking' (I saw John Simm from a mile away) but the effect is ephemeral. Moffat has gutted the Doctor Who canon looking for any idea that he can debase for his own ego. I was very disappointed. There is no originality in the show any-more, no imagination. It speaks volumes that I look forward to David Bradley appearing in the upcoming Xmas special more than anything else and that includes the 13th 'Doctor'. Louis Scohlten NSW Peter Capaldi was absolutely fantastic in this series. Finally he seemed so much happier. So sad he is leaving, so sad. Carolyn NSW Pretty good series. Christopher WA Production values have slipped a bit when it comes to special effects the 'Extremis' sequence was average. Glyn Roberts SA Space + Zombies + The Doctor = The best. Paul Kennedy NSW 'The Doctor Falls' was very poor in comparison to the very good 'World Enough and Time', in my opinion. Ron Godwin NSW The finale was excellent. Loved the truly sad fate of Bill and the bittersweet final scenes with her. Raelynne Eccleston NSW The first episode of the 3-parter was amazing, the end was terrible. It could have been held out for the entire season. Kate Canada 14
The mid series triplet just didn't work, not because of a common complaint of "What was the Monk's motivation" (they wanted to rule the world) but their methods. In the three episodes they showed no consistency of tactics, strategy or personality. This could have quite easily been 3 unrelated unremarkable stories, but together they're a glutinous mess. Bruce Greenwood NSW The show’s production especially made the viewing great. Allan Wheelhouse Qld The stories have a really good premise but quickly degenerate into twaddle. Tim Corfield NSW The whole story with the monks and the pyramids could of been better thought out. Phil McManus NSW The writing promised plenty but failed to deliver most of the time. James Baverstock SA The writing struggled with the length of the episodes. The 45 minutes allocated was either too short or too much for the writer to fully develop and complete a full exploration of the story… the vault lacked a sense of wonder and became like a millstone around the neck, always forcing a conclusion or expectation that was not delivered in the next story. Themes were solid and had lots of potential. A very enjoyable season with only a couple of absolute clunkers. Aaron Richardson Vic There was too much happening in ‘World Enough and Time’ / ‘The Doctor Falls’. Paul Davis Qld
15
They could've used an actual picture of Sydney in 'The Pilot'. Romana NSW They should concentrate on plot development more and less on SFX. They could turn the background music down so we can hear the character interactions more clearly. Joel Rose NSW ‘Thin Ice’ was the best episode, but bringing the Master back and pairing him up with Missy at the end of the series was fantastic. Deb McCarthy NSW This season was spectacular! Philip Pullinger SA This was a wonderful example of Classic Who meeting nuWho and possibly Mark Gatiss's best contribution to the series as a script writer. Alpha Centauri!!!!! Craig Wellington Tas This was by far my favourite season with of the 12th Doctor. I went in with low expectations and was blown away by it. Alfio Gallo WA Well written and directed. Kelvin Welbourn Vic ‘World Enough and Time’ is equal 10/10 with ‘The Doctor Falls’. :) Antony Gibbons NZ ‘World Enough and Time’ is my favourite single episode since the series returned in 2005. David Blewer Qld Would love the if some of the classics were given a greater role, we see the Movellans in ‘The Pilot’ but only a quick glimpse... they needed a story by themselves. A bravura performance from a brilliant actor. Bruce Greenwood NSW A great actor but let down by a show runner who had lost his passion and lacks originality. Capaldi's run was the best solid run since the early Tom Baker years. Alex James SA Consistently incredible. Kevin Mulle WA Devastated Peter is leaving. Vicki Qld Didn't really like him at first but now I love him as the Doctor. Sam Vic Fantastic! Antony Gibbons NZ Favourite Doctor! Philip Pullinger SA Finally free to explore the character, Capaldi was allowed to riff between high drama to very silly comedy. His talents as an actor were well used and his Doctor was an excellent extension to the cannon. Aaron Richardson Vic Finally, we see Capaldi's Doctor as he always should have been. Not the grumpy cynic, not the guitar-wielding mid-life crisis, but a vibrant and utterly charming ball of wonder. Jonathan Crossfield NSW Going to miss him greatly, he's fantastic. Yolanda WA Good actor, just average scripts and stories. Tony Vic Great Doctor let down by poor writing. Mister A UK Great Doctor portrayal let down by some average scripts. Joel Rose NSW He defiantly grew on me. First couple of episodes it was Clara that made them. But Peter grew on me. Alfio Gallo WA He has been great, incorporating the old with new, a real alien. Paul Kennedy NSW He really highlights how inadequate Matt Smith was as a lead actor. Ryouga WA He seemed nicer in Series Ten, I liked him better with the sharper wit that he had in previous series' Toni Le Pierres Qld He was a great actor underused in previous series and nearing his potential in this one, shame he's gone before he got a chance to do more of this. Craig NSW
He was amazing but the stories did let his Doctor down :/ Aaron NSW He was OK, but I liked his three predecessors better. Ron Godwin NSW He was the right person to bring back the essence of the show from the original series to now. Allan Wheelhouse Qld
He's a good actor just a crap script. David Qld His best overall season by far. Ashley Knighton SA His best series yet. T. Beilby ACT I adored Peter Capaldi as the Doctor for, because, like me we are of the same generation who grew up with Doctor Who. I felt he had an empathy with playing the character as a result. I had never heard of him before Doctor Who , but will forever be one of my favourite Doctors. Carolyn Foster NSW I feel that Peter Capaldi has really found his Doctor this season, and the writers have written more to his Doctor too. It is sad that we will not have at least one more season of this magnificent Doctor. So far he has been my favourite Doctor since the series returned in 2005. Izzy von Lichtan Tas I felt that Peter Capaldi knew that this was his last season, he was given the opportunity to push his character to the limit. As a result Moffat gave him creative license to do or say anything. I am going to miss Doctor No 12 and his guitar! Kay Ross Vic I like Peter Capaldi. Tony Vic I love Peter Capaldi and I think his scripts were a lot better in this season. Debra Martin SA I love Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. Phil McManus NSW I love Peter Capaldi as the Doctor. Gregory Long NSW I loved it. It finally gave him the chance to be who he could be. It's a shame it's his last. Dyan Henry NSW I really like his performance, and him as the Doctor. Heather Magee WA 17
begins as an aggressive, bitter yet inwardly caring individual deeply concerned about his morality, then becomes more assured of his heroism – his characterisation became less interesting. In Series 9, the 12th Doctor became more eccentric and jolly, effectively turning into an older, crabbier 11th Doctor. I think that Series 10 struck a good balance between these two states of the 12th Doctor's character – he is kind and good-humoured, but still irritable and deeply formidable, even fierce. I think that Sarah Dollard, Jamie Mathieson and Rona Munro (outside of Moffat's writing in the finale) did the best job of balancing the Doctor's friendliness and forcefulness. Seth Lukas Hynes Vic Peter Capaldi did a magnificent job through his tenure against what was mostly very poor story-lines. Series 10 was a little better. Lydia Govelli Vic Peter Capaldi embraced the character of the Doctor and became the Doctor. He was one of the best, and I've been watching since 'An Unearthly Child' first aired in Australia. Deb McCarthy NSW Peter Capaldi has been a fantastic Doctor throughout his tenure… it is a shame that the story-lines often let him down. Stephen Planson UK Peter Capaldi is a supremely superior actor and an inspiration to upcoming actors. Sam Deimmond Qld Peter Capaldi is let down by poor writing. Tim Corfield NSW Peter Capaldi is the best Doctor of the new era. C.J. Williams NSW Peter Capaldi is the best thing that ever happened to Doctor Who! His performance continued to evolve and develop from series 8 and 9, and by series 10… just amazing! Not at all surprised, since he started out brilliantly! Vicki USA Peter Capaldi makes a great Doctor it’s a shame about the writing. Sue NSW
I think Peter Capaldi's Doctor was the best Doctor Since the return of the show in 2005. And his Doctor will go down as one of the greatest Doctor ever. Luke Sandford NSW I think the writing let Capaldi down in the end. Paul Davis Qld I think this was a better season for Capaldi. Loved his interaction with Nardole. Narelle Gilmore Vic I will miss Peter Carpal is the Doctor. He was much better in this last season. Raelynne Eccleston NSW I wish he could have had a longer run as the Doctor. Fraser Qld If the War Doctor is added to the Time Line then Peter was the 13th, not the 12th Doctor. Lenard Schmidt Qld If they had made Peter Capaldi like this from the beginning, he would have been a much better Doctor. They finally made him likeable. Kate Canada Just that I wish Capaldi was staying longer. Tex Stone Vic My favourite Doctor ever ♥️ Michelle Vic My favourite Doctor!!! In season 10, Peter Capaldi became my favourite Doctor. I love him so much, such a brilliant actor. Connor Pullinger SA No I will miss him somewhat. Matthew Thompson Qld Perfect, he will be missed. Lisa Cook SA Peter Capaldi definitely grew into this role. Great at the beginning, by the end he was pretty damn magnificent as the Doctor. Antony Waltho NSW Peter Capaldi always gives everything… as far as character goes, I'm reminded of an interview with Chris Bidmead, where he said Tennant looked like an actor floundering for a character… I think that has carried through all modern Doctors. Ian Stewart Vic Peter Capaldi brought a phenomenal conviction and subtle intensity to the role of the Doctor, but I feel that after his maturation in Series 8 – in which he 18
Peter Capaldi tried his very best, but from his very first episode was hamstrung by Steven Moffat's 'vision' for the character. Such a shame. This wasn't Doctor Who any-more, but one Moffat's projected ego. Louis Scohlten NSW Peter Capaldi was amazing as the 12th Doctor. His speeches are some of my favourite Doctor Who moments ever. Karina NSW Peter Capaldi's acting overall was very good in this series. Phillip Nicholls Vic Peter is a great Doctor, the speeches are delivered perfectly, just a bit of shame that the plots don't live up to the performance. Mark Corben NSW Peter is an excellent Doctor. A good Doctor makes you believe that he is the same person as the original Doctor. This is something most Doctors have done to great effect with the exception of 1 or 2 bad choices. Peter is not just a great actor he is the Doctor, just like Tom Baker, Hartnell and Tennant. The part of the Doctor cannot be given to any good actor it has to be the right qualities. The hopefuls including Jodie who is the best of a bad bunch do not compare to Capaldi as the Doctor. The show will at best do well in the short term because of the novelty of a female Doctor. People say you don't understand what the show is about if you don't get why the Doctor can be female cos anything can happen in Doctor Who. Doctor Who has a credibility limit like any show and I know there are a lot of fans who don't agree but are too afraid of being labelled sexist simply because they believe the show now lacks credibility due to this massive change in Who history. Peter Capaldi should have been kept on. Ian UK Peter just kept picking up steam through this series it kept me gripped and the banter between him and Pearl was great. It was a nice change to the interaction between Doctor and companion. Deb Vic
Peter was amazing as usual. Lauren Meagher NSW Sad to see him go. Ken McRae SA Sad to see him go. Susan Iacuone Vic The 12th Doctor's character development had been a bit dubious prior to this series, even considering that the Doctor is a bit eccentric at all times. However, in this series he seemed to be suddenly excellent. Kish Vic The best actor to ever play the part, elevates every bit of material he's given. Alan Russell Vic The characterisation was inconsistent. Russ Qld The Doctor I wish we'd had all through Capaldi's tenure. Matt Cardier Qld The Doctor softened and it improved the character and his interactions. Bron Vic The fact that they stopped making the Doctor a young, good looking guy was great. They brought it back to the wise, mad man with a box, and it definitely made me warm to Capaldi easier than I warmed to the younger actors. It was nice to have a change for a while. Melinda Brown NSW This was how Capaldi should have been from the beginning. This is him at his finest as the Doctor, a swaggering rock star / college lecturer. After finally finding his stride, he's off and it's sad. Andrew UK Thought his character was at its best this series. Angus T SA Why couldn't they have written 12 like this earlier? Nikki White ACT Wonderful Doctor let down by poor over-confusing plots throughout his tenure. James Hague UK Would have loved to have seen more. I know there's difficulties, but 2016 really was worse than the split series. Really makes the fans feel like we're not important. Rai Akers Qld 19

Nardole seemed like a waste… he was a bit part and seemed there to add something for Bill to springboard with, but never really found much impetus. Not my favourite companion and rates very low in my memorable companions list. Aaron Richardson Vic Bill was a breath of fresh air. I love the way she questioned everything. Michelle Vic Bill was a letdown as a companion. Phil McManus NSW Bill was a wonderful character and I will miss her as a companion. Nardole had some wonderful lines and was very funny. Sam Deimmond Qld Bill was amazing. They shouldn't have killed Bill. Shame on the writers. She would have been an excellent carryover like Clara. I find it disturbing that Clara got 3 seasons and Bill only got 1. They didn't explore Nardole very much. What do we even know about him? He was nice though. Kate Canada Bill was great as the "inform the audience " companion. Really relatable good and likeable. Matt Lucas was awesome. Narelle Gilmore Vic Bill was the companion the 12th Doctor needed from the beginning, brilliantly brought to life by Pearl. I never expected to enjoy Nardole as much as I did. Matt brought nice moments of comedy but was also played seriously when needed. Kevin Mulle WA Bill was too much in your face I like girls every episode, we got it the first time. Nardole was great he was fresh and added a bit of comedy and was unpredictable. David Qld Both fantastic. Both deserved longer. Antony Gibbons NZ Brought a lot of laughter to the series. Lauren Meagher NSW Great companions / Doctor combination. Back to basics approach worked really well. Craig Wellington Tas
After being ambivalent-downright worried about Nardole becoming a regular cast member after only seeing his appearance in 'The Husbands of River Song', I'm glad to say he's been great. Hints of a much darker character were dropped as the series went on. I'm sad that we don't get to see these paid off in their entirety. What did he mean "It's me. I'll start a black market if there's any more than three people in a room." Who was he really? Bill was excellent from start to finish. A real breath of fresh air. Andrew UK As a viewer you need to be taken on a journey to identify with the companions. Nardole is a conceit. A character which was 'just there' because Moffat could do it. He really didn't add anything and detracted from the Doctor's character as well. Same goes for Bill. I'm tired of the self-righteousness of the companions always questioning the morality of the Doctor. It is boring and dull. Louis Scohlten NSW Bill and Nardole have become favourites of mine. Both wonderful characters portrayed brilliantly by Pearl Mackie and Matt Lucas! Both a delight to watch! Vicki USA Bill and Nardole were excellent companions. Pearl Mackie and Matt Lucas shone in their roles. Patrick Moore SA Bill is easily the best companion since Donna and I'm so sorry to see her go after just one season, particularly as they whipped out of what would otherwise have been an extremely memorable death. If you're gonna do tragedy, do tragedy. Otherwise, it creates a massive anti-climax that falls flat. Jonathan Crossfield NSW Bill is now one of my favourite companions. Philip Pullinger SA Bill never felt as ease or at home – her character felt very clichéd and forced, with little impact until she was Cyber converted. Will be remembered for her ending (which was superb and

He made it for me this season absolutely baby Nardole ahhh too good brilliant if only he was a future Doctor :o Aaron NSW He was very good at the role he had.
ended on a positive note for her. The conversion of Bill to a Cyberman broke me. Karina NSW I quite liked Pearl Mackie's Bill Potts, as she had character, charismatic and was a breath of fresh air. While I didn't like Nardole too much, he did have his moments and Matt Lucas played him quite well. Phillip Nicholls Vic I thought Nardole should have had a bigger part in the series than he ended up having. Paul Davis Qld I thought Nardole was a little under used. He was great in the last two episodes, and allowed to really pull his weight. Heather Magee NSW I wasn't a fan of Matt Lucas until now. Bron Vic I would have liked to have seen more of Nardole. Alison Fairclough Vic It was wonderful knowing we had a companion who wasn't going to develop a major crush on the Doctor. Lee-Gwen Booth NSW It's such a shame Pearl Mackie has left the series. I love the character of Bill Potts and what she brought to the show. Deb McCarthy NSW It's the tendency of many actors to sometimes speak way to quickly or mumble incoherently. It was easier to understand Capaldi this year, though Pearl Mackie was hard to follow in parts. It could be the fault of the sound mix, but it's also the responsibility of actors to enunciate clearly, especially for audiences that don't speak "Regional Pom". Steve Panozzo NSW Like sunlight and moonlight the two could not be more different. Well written characters who took part in the Doctor's story without taking over. Bruce Greenwood NSW Love Bill, not sold on Nardole but Matt Lucas was a wonderful actor. Ethan Vic Love the way how Bill questioned everything, and Nardole definitely improved. Louisa WA
Allan Wheelhouse Qld
Hilarious. A shame they are going. I am glad there is a possibility of return. I love Nardole's one liners and Bill's (platonic) love that is not blind. Lisa Cook SA Hope we get to see what is Nardole secret soon‌ Rai Akers Qld I felt that Nardole's character needed more depth. Gregory Long NSW I have been enjoying this season with Bill and Nardole, both characters not having crushes on the Doctor or vice versa! Izzy von Lichtan Tas I like him. Tony Vic I liked Nardole in 'The Return of Doctor Mysterious', where he was essentially condescending Alfred to the Doctor's Batman. (Fans of the Bruce Timm animated series will understand what I'm talking about). But they dropped that and made him whiny and thus annoying. Sean Mills Vic I love Bill. She's kind, clever, enthusiastic, resourceful and very perceptive, with dashes of Ace and Donna in her assertiveness and love of the unknown. I was very dubious about Nardole being upgraded to a full companion, since he was essentially just helping comic relief in his Christmas special introductions, but Series 10 infused him with quite a lot of depth. Seth Lukas Hynes Vic I love it when the Doctor has two companions, one to show off to and one to try and keep order in the TARDIS. Melinda Brown NSW I loved Pearl Mackie as Bill. The commentary on her sexuality was overdone. She's gay. We get it. No need to work that into the plot every single episode. But the actress was amazing and the character was a breath of fresh air. Loved her relationship with the Doctor. She asked the best questions. Glad it 22
Loved Bill! Hope She comes back somehow, somewhere, sometime! Didn't really like Nardole until the finale. Raelynne Eccleston NSW Loved both characters. Sue NSW Loved Nardole, but so often not given enough to do, just in the background. David Drury SA Loved them both, Nardole was underutilised in my opinion. Mark Corben NSW Loved them both. Paul Kennedy NSW Loved these two companions. Loved that Bill was asking questions and I adored the character of Nardole. I wish / hope he appears again. The saddest part was when they turned Bill into a Cyberman. I just wanted to cry with her. Carolyn Foster NSW Loved this combination – again should have had them earlier instead of that drippy Clara / Impossible Girl shtick. Nikki White ACT Matt Lucas did an admirable job but was playing a character who became more annoying the longer he appeared. Grant Watson Vic More Nardole, please but less as comic relief, okay? Nardole was kickarse in 'The Doctor Falls' – more please! And please find a way to bring back Bill, she was inspired! Susan Barley NSW Nardole and Bill were great. Matt Lucas' comic relief and 'kick arse' behaviour and the wonder of Bill experiencing everything was amazing. Debb Vic Nardole was one that really grew on me. I really didn’t like him in the first episodes but by the end of the season I was sorry to see him go. Alfio Gallo WA Nardole grew on me – at first just irritating, but it's hard to imagine episodes like 'Extremis', 'Eaters of Light' and the finale without him. Matt Cardier Qld Nardole is the best. Romana NSW
Nardole pleasantly surprised me, and I loved Bill. shame we only get them for one season. :( Pearl Mackie was incredible throughout the whole season. The finale showed her emotional side phenomenally, she's definitely one of my favourite companions. I was pleasantly surprised by Nardole, before the season I thought he was a strange addition but I ended up loving him! Connor Pullinger SA Nardole was a complete waste of time! Jamie Hillard SA Nardole was amazing. Angus T SA Nardole was going well but was lost in a few stories. Bill was killed off and then not. Capitulation to rival the departure of Jenna Coleman which did her character no justice. No info about her mother either. James Baverstock SA Nardole was pointless, but okay-entertaining. Alex James SA Nardole was really used much until later on. Shone when given a chance. Bill was a vast improvement on Clara. Clara never seemed to gel with the 12th Doctor. Ashley Knighton SA Obviously not a Nardole fan! Ron Godwin NSW Pearl Mackie (Bill) was great companion and is a pity she will most like be short lived. Best one since Donna Noble. Pearl invited you along for the ride and be part of the action as she was discovering who the Doctor is. Kelvin Welbourn Vic Pearl Mackie is an excellent actress and I hope she has a long career. I was never a fan of Matt Lucas and was dreading him being in Doctor Who but he did grow on me and I’m glad he was there :) Debra Martin SA Pointlessly dull and motivation-less characters. Derek Qld Shame to loose Bill. James Hague UK Still trying to work out the significance in having Nardole. Lydia Govelli Vic 23
The on screen companions were fine but fandoms obsession with Bill's sexuality was wearisome. It seemed one couldn't read any sort of comment that didn't include "the shows first openly gay character" – why was it an issue that needed to be repeated commented on. Russ Qld They were both good and I liked them. Craig NSW Want to see more of Nardole and Bill but sadly we are being saddled with Bradley Walsh. Ian UK Was Bill gay? I know there was some hints… Ian Stewart Vic With Bill we returned to the companion as our voice in the TARDIS, asking the questions we couldn't… with comedy and directness. Pearl Mackie… an ex-
cellent actress who will go places. Matt Lucas was fun as the coming relief, loyal to the Doctor… who is courageous when it is called for. The companions this season were a return to old standards… and we loved it. Stephen Planson UK Would like to see a lot more of Bill to understand her – don't know if that will happen, but she's been promising. Pearl Mackie was excellent. Have difficulty understanding what Nardole is and isn't – he's some kind of foil character, but his placement seems at times awkward. Occasional very good entertainment value though. It's hard to judge Matt Lucas' performance when you can't quite understand the character, but I think he did well… Kish Vic
1) Favourite returning character of the series
Although I mentioned it in the introduction I thought I would again advise that there is some confusion about these categories and who is covered by them. This category is probably the most misunderstood and I should have put it last of the three. It's about a character (note the singular) so answers like Ice Warriors, Movellans or Cybermen wouldn't count, plus Nardole is a companion and thus he is covered by previous questions. The other two that do not fit are Missy and the Master they are enemies and are covered by a later question. That just leaves two and it is great to see Alpha Centauri getting a good number of votes.

There were an extremely large number of choices and to help, for many of them, I listed the episode they appeared in. Again the Empress, the Landlord and Lord Sutcliffe are enemies and are listed in that category. Heather appearing in more than one episode was the obvious winner, but I would never of thought that the Pope would have come in second. I thought that Friday or Bill's Mum would have had this honour.

Unfortunately I didn't list the Movellans, who made a blink or you will miss it appearance. Although the Daleks are perennial winners in this category their brief appearance left it for the Cybermen to fight it out with the Ice Warriors (what a wonderful story that would be!). The "pickled cucumber's" appearance really was appreciated. 25

If a new enemy survives it can mean it may return but it's a pity that we won't be able to see the Landlord return but I can see both the Smartsuits and the Sentient Oil making a return appearance. I loved someone's suggestion that an idea (Capitalism) can be an enemy.

I'm glad the Master / Missy finally died, well maybe finally… you never know. It was fitting he / she killed himself. Louis Scohlten NSW It just hasn’t been the same since Russell T Davies left unfortunately and what really sucks is Steven Moffat has had great Doctors but only to be let down in the end by himself. Aaron NSW It was great to see John Simms again as the Master. Sue NSW It's very hard to pick favourites – maybe you should have "your favourite 3 or 5" in ranked order. Kish Vic Loved having Ice Warriors and Mondasian Cybermen back. My Faves. Ashley Knighton SA Loved Heather and Bill's story. Raelynne Eccleston NSW Missy's character is annoying. Vicky Manning Qld Mondas Cyberman are the most scariest enemy because they caused the regeneration of the first Doctor in the 'Tenth Planet'. Kay Ross Vic Nardole and Bill made for great companions, but I do believe that where they have ended in the series is where they should stay. I believe that their time in the Whoniverse has been had. Melinda Brown NSW Nothing new this season really stood out. Tony Cooke NSW Pretty forgettable for the most part. Russ Qld Really hard to find a stand-out new character worthy of mention. All so forgettable. Jamie Hillard SA Series 10 was the best series of the Capaldi era – more focused and interesting. Patrick Moore SA The Cyberman were back and they didn't suck! About time they did a decent Cyberman story in the modern era. Craig NSW The Daleks weren't in this season.
The Eater of Light was a very coollooking monster, and the mid-conversion Mondasian Cybermen were chillingly portrayed. Seth Lukas Hynes Vic The Monks had SUCH potential, but really ended up being a pale imitation of the Silence without any real motivation. A real wasted opportunity. Steve Panozzo NSW The villains were a bit of a let-down. The desire to find "good" in the villain spoiled much of the sheer pleasure of seeing someone evil (not just a racist!) brought to count… The Monks lost their way and had such potential only to be a real disappointment… The Landlord could have been so much better if all had died… The Ice Warriors became friends??… The Emojibots were naff… Heather and the sentient oil was superb (her ending was unexpected, and I hate the fact that everyone who dies seems to live in a happy afterlife… but I'm old school). Aaron Richardson Vic There was a good deal of new characters this series. Phillip Nicholls Vic Thumbs up for the Mondasian Cybermen! Ron Godwin NSW Tired tropes do not new villains make. Derek Qld Too many enemies that weren't. A mark of the Moffat era is the "oh it's all a big misunderstanding “at least 'Thin Ice' had a bad guy who was bad. I miss them. James Baverstock SA Very difficult choice to make. Stephen Planson UK Way to many new character to voice a favourite… Rai Akers Qld When I was going through the new characters section, it struck me how forgettable they are… something for Chibbers to work on, eh? Ian Stewart Vic Wish you had made the Mondasian Cybermen a separate choice from the new series ones, as I would have chosen them as best returning alien. Aron Vic
[Ed: Look very carefully and you will see them in 'The Pilot'] Kate Canada

1) Did you know who Jodie Whittaker was when she was announced? Yes, I have seen her on TV No I had heard of her name No answer
3) Do you have any comments on this section? A brave, challenging and unique piece of casting. It will be a real ride seeing how a female Doctor plays, but given her acting talents and the new drive behind the series, it is a wonderful opportunity for rediscovery of some of the fundamental joys of Doctor Who !! Aaron Richardson Vic A problem with the change of sex was my initial response. Maybe it shouldn't have been but it was. I was disappointed. It has been hailed as a 'brave' decision. I think it was an easy decision to make. A braver decision would have been to continue with a male and to make it work!!! As it is now, Chibnall has opened a real can of worms. I'll be curious to see how it works. And what of future Doctors will we see a procession of female then male actors. The show has changed irrevocably. The genie is out of the bottle! Louis Scohlten NSW About the new Doctor, it all depends on the writing as that was what let down Peter Capaldi. I am hoping Chibnall does not turn out to be a self-indulgent showrunner like Moffat, doing things simply because he can whether it makes sense or not. Nikki White ACT All she has to do is the job well‌ I am rapt the show continues. Bron Vic As a Doctor Who fan for 32 years I am super excited about this. Luke Sandford NSW

A large number of people had not heard of Jodie. She was not the well-known name or cult actor that predictably gets mentioned when a new Doctor is about to be announced.
2) What was your initial response when learning that she had been chosen?
I will wait till I see her as the Doctor to make a decision. 84 Brilliant choice. 67 No, it should have been a male. 52 Yes, wonderful, a female. 42 From what I have seen of her other TV performances she will work out OK. 24 Not sure she will be able to handle the role. 6 Who is she? 1 No answer 2
I tried to provide a variety of different responses to this question, firstly to cover the male / female question and then, ignoring that, what people felt about the actor. Interestingly of the 52 people who chose "No, it should have been a male." 1 7 (35%) were female and of the 42 that chose "Yes, wonderful, a female" 25 (60%) were males.

Amazing, exciting and brave choice. It shouldn't be 'brave' in the 21st century, and it's going to have to be. Doctor Who 's future has been assured far into the future. Inspired. Antony Gibbons NZ As a long time Whovian, I'm excited to see a woman in the role. Loved Whittaker in Broadchurch , will be interesting to see how she does as the Doctor. Emily Larsen Qld As a long-time female fan, I was surprised at just how delighted I was at Jodie Whittaker's casting. It meant even more to me than I had expected it to. Kerry NZ As Merriam-Webster tweeted, Doctor has no gender in English It's time for change and it's a great one. Alison Fairclough Vic As time has gone on I have grown more and more excited about Jodie Whittaker taking on the role. Initially I wanted an older, more mature woman in the vein of sadly deceased Margery Rutherford and was sad to see they'd picked someone young and beautiful. THAT felt like a stunt, not picking a woman especially. However seeing interviews she has given and how excited she is, I literally cannot wait and am fully on board as she steps on board the TARDIS. Andrew UK Before the announcement I was adamant I did not want a female Doctor. I was hoping for a male Doctor of a different race. But when the announcement came I surprised myself by feeling happy about the female Doctor. I don't know too much about the actress but I'm keeping my mind open and wishing her the best. Karina NSW Being that much older… I was there from the beginning (November 1963) I have a lot of problems picturing the Doctor as a woman after fifty plus years. To me, the Doctor is, was and always should be a man. That being said… I am going to watch Jodie's first show. What I do want to see, however, is a male or male and female compan-
ions. She should also be asexual as the Doctors were in the past. A girl only TARDIS with a potential lesbian tendencies, will only alienate the male viewers. Doctor Who's audience are not all gay… and many males don't really want to see a weekly dalliance. We coped without it for many years… the show doesn't really need it. Stephen Planson UK Best actor gets the job. She's got good acting credentials. James Baverstock SA But now I'm very excited by her. Andrew Buckley UK Can't wait to see her get started. C.J. Williams NSW Can’t wait to see her. I think she will be brilliant. ☺ Sally Jones Vic Can't wait to see Jodie as the 13th Doctor. Scott Vandervalk Vic Can't wait to see Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor. I just hope she is given the fantastic scripts an actor of her calibre deserves. Deb McCarthy NSW Ever since Tom Baker inferred a change of gender nearly forty years ago, albeit said off the cuff or with intent, it was inevitable. Now, the 14th Doctor, he'll be Anglo-African or Asian for sure… Antony Waltho NSW Every new Doctor is met with uncertainty and this is no different. Some previous regenerations have been similarly major, such as old man to much younger, and the first time any radical change happens, many fans hate the idea. And then it all becomes established history no longer up for debate. This is a big change but it's planned. The stories they'll tell will reveal exactly how and what the change means for the series. Jonathan Crossfield NSW Felt disappointed with the decision. It's a risky move that only targeting a smaller amount of the fandom. Angus T SA Finally a woman Doctor. Phillip Nicholls Vic 29
From the 80's there was always the hint or rumour that there will be a female cast as the Doctor, it seemed that it would be a possibility, and so not a great show when the news came through. She is a strong actor, and I just hope she gets good scripts so she can shine. Izzy von Lichtan Tas Great working relationship with Chibnall already. Like Davies and Eccleston or Davies and Tennant. This will be great. Adam Richard NSW Heard the announcement and wanted to vomit. David King NSW Hope it is a good storyline to introduce her as this past season has been seriously lacking. Ann Spittles Vic However my opinion has changed now to wait and see and hope she gets some fun adventures and good writing. Angela NSW I also disagree with the Doctor now being female. Whilst Doctor Who is a science fantasy, there has to be credibility limits and this has crossed that line. I have seen Jodie in numerous programmes and she is quite good, but in Attack the Block she did not shine whilst others did. The show will at best do well in the short term because of the novelty of a female Doctor. People say you don't understand what the show is about if you don't get why the Doctor can be female cos anything can happen in Doctor Who. Doctor Who has a credibility limit like any show and I know there are a lot of fans who don't agree but are too afraid of being labelled sexist simply because they believe the show now lacks credibility due to this massive change in Doctor Who history. Ian UK I always have some reservations. Kish Vic I am against the casting of a woman, but it will depend on whether the character of the Doctor remains the same. If the character and stories are worthwhile I will continue to watch. Kelvin Welbourn Vic
I am in no doubt she will excel in the role. She is a great actor and it's going to be superb. Craig Wellington Tas I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE BBC FOR PUSHING THEIR TRANSGENDER AGENDA ON ALL OF US. Romana NSW I am very excited about this and planning a cosplay forthwith. Lisa Cook SA I can understand all the differing opinions concerning a female Doctor but I wish people would give her a chance and not get so angry with each other. Peace xx Raelynne Eccleston NSW I don’t ever care who is announced as the Doctor. It's how they are as the Doctor that counts. So until months away when they air in their episodes, I really don’t see how any opinion on the chosen actor can be given :-) I'd rather not know until the Doctor regenerates and we see on screen. Mick NSW I don’t mind her being a female. I've been watching since the 2nd Doctor won’t stop me know. As long as the stories are good imp in. The only thing that bugs me about the whole thing is the way the tabloids keep calling it a kid’s show. Alfio Gallo WA I don't see any character trait inherent to the Doctor that is definitively male, I'm reassured that she's capable of the role by people I trust. Alan Russell Vic I had actually managed to avoid knowing who the new Doctor was until this questionnaire. Ryouga WA I have high hopes for Jodie! Philip Pullinger SA I love Jodie Whittaker. Tony Vic I need to see some episodes. Mark Corben NSW I think the joy seen in the faces of young female fans says it all. I can still enjoy it, but this series isn't necessarily being made for me any-more, so it's great that new generations are getting excited about it. Niall Doran Tas 30
I think the whole thing (Missy and other Time Lords regenerating into female bodies) has been driven by a need to placate the vocal group calling for it. If they need strong female characters then write some, don't change male characters into female ones, or white ones into other races, create new ones of that race. Then it keeps everyone happy. That being said, it's done now, so I'll wait and see what she's like before I decide if I like the 13th Doctor or not. I don't agree with the reasons, but I'll give her a chance to be the Doctor. I hope she's amazing and it's not the worst idea they've come up with. Craig NSW I thought Jodie has been great in other shows and congrats to her. I am excited that a woman is playing the role, as I'm looking forward to what she will bring to the character. Also how the writers will have an even greater mix of ideas to go with. Debb Vic I was a bit disappointed when Jodie Whittaker was introduced as I did not like her in Broadchurch . I will wait to see how she goes in her first series. I am glad there is a female Doctor. Sam Deimmond Qld I was surprised about the mixed reaction by the change of gender. Considering that the Missy is the Master. Kay Ross Vic I wasn't wanting a female Doctor, but when I saw that it was to be Jodie Whittaker, everything suddenly felt completely right. I am not sure what it was, but I think she is going to be brilliant. The Doctor is not about a gender, the Doctor is about an ethic on living life. As Rose said "He makes you a better person, shows you a better way." I think that is achieved no matter the sex of the Doctor, to be honest. I say, bring her on! Karen NSW I will be surprised if Jodie lasts for more than one season, it’s not a good sign for the future of the show as a whole either. Paul Davis Qld
I will wait to judge her on her merit, but the fact the BBC had the courage to do it bodes well for new and bold adventures. Eleanor Chandler-Temple Qld I wish her the best in the role as Chibnall and the BBC have taken a big gamble in casting a female Doctor for the first time in its history. Patrick Moore SA I wish the media releases recognised that there'd already been a (non-cannon) female Doctor ( Comic Relief) to help those indignant of this choice to understand there's nothing wrong with it. Rai Akers Qld If we give Jodi a chance, she'll make a great 13th Doctor. Narelle Mckenzie NSW I'm glad it’s not Moffat writing it. Hope they give Jodi sensible shoes. Hope that it’s an incarnation that happens to be female, not a female incarnation defined by her gender. Hope Chris brings back some of the light we had in Series 1-4. Sean Mills Vic I'm not against having a female Doctor, but equally don't feel the need for one. I know a lot of people think it's good to have her as a female role model, but I also feel that there are plenty of other female role models on TV (not that a role model needs to be the same gender as the person wanting/needing a role model). I'm neither for nor against a female Doctor. Steve Walker SA Initial reaction isn't long term view… the questions about why she was chosen will persist… but once the new series starts they will be put aside… and I will judge on merits… She does have an elven, fey look about her, though. Ian Stewart Vic Initial reaction lasted 2.5 seconds as I mourned the loss of a kind male role model… and then Whovianism (is this even a thing - yes yes it is) kicked in and I was cool! Can't wait for episodes. :-) PurpleSithLady Vic 31
Initially I was against the idea of a female Doctor, but after seeing the casting choice, I am EXTREMELY pleased. She should brilliant! Super excited for Jodie!!!! Connor Pullinger SA It just seems to me that it's an unwritten rule that the Doctor should be male. I have settled with the Doctor being female though. We'll see how she goes. :) Debra Martin SA I've reflected and happy to see how she progresses. Les Chatwin NSW Jodie Whittaker is a beautiful an talented actress and I believe she will do credit to the role (particularly if the writing improves over recent years). I just can't understand why change the Doctor's gender. Russ Qld Jodie Whittaker is a wonderfully bold and inspired choice and has me very keen to see her Doctor début. Grant Watson Vic Jodie Whittaker is going to be a BRILLIANT Doctor! So excited! Susan Barley NSW Let's wait and see. While I would have preferred a male actor, I might be surprised. Let's hope the writing won't let us all down. Tim Corfield NSW More worried about characterisation and writing than the actress. Sarah NSW My real reaction was disbelief. I have a young teenage boy and the Doctor was a male role model character who doesn't resort to violence to solve problems (like most other current male characters – superheroes, James Bond etc.). Doctor Who was a big part of his life. He was really upset for days afterwards and will not be watching again. That was his raw reaction – he is not being sexist, as he wouldn't really know what that means. I am a traditionalist, I thought casting a female was pressing a "panic button" to create new interest and boost ratings. Simon NSW Not happy at the poor form of gender swapping characters. Clear stupidity and destruction of a classic show. Lydia Govelli Vic
Peter Capaldi is my Doctor and I was devastated that he was leaving. I didn't think any man could follow his iconic performance… (though as a long-time Whovian, I was prepared to accept whoever was cast) when I heard Jodie Whittaker was cast, I was absolutely thrilled! I never thought the BBC, Chibnall, et al, would make such a bold choice! Although I'm still sad to see Peter go, Jodie has given me something wonderful to look forward to! Vicki USA Plenty more people love Doctor Who than the white British men he's been portrayed by in the past, so having the Doctor be played by a woman and / or an actor of colour would provide other fans with long-overdue representation in the prime spot as the hero (whereas women have been primarily represented as companions, which play secondfiddle to the male hero). I'm therefore overjoyed that the BBC have finally cast a female Doctor, and I'm sure that Jodie Whittaker will be excellent in the role. I look forward to seeing her unique spin on the Doctor. Seth Lukas Hynes Vic Prefer to keep with tradition. Unfortunately this is not so… I'll wait and see. Sue NSW She looks like she could be a Doctor. It feels like the time has come for a female regeneration. They've been hinting at it for years and finally the day has come. I cannot wait to see how she plays the character. Melinda Brown NSW She's a good actress, in what I've seen of her, but I don't yet "like her" for the role. I would still have preferred a male Doctor. Vicky Manning Qld Seems a good choice so far, but will catch up with some previous work, and wait and see. David Carroll NSW So excited for Jodie Whittaker! Kat Milner SA Sure she'll do well. Disappointed with negative fan reaction. To me it will only be bad if the stories are dull. Reg Dare NSW 32
Tbh it should still be a male for now until the Doctor explains it’s OK and it doesn’t look like a marketing move by the BBC which is a disappointing thing to do to their loyal fans. I’m all for a women to play the Doctor but just not now the time is not right this feels very forced and not very well thought out and always as if there trying to make a statement and not tell the story of Doctor Who very disappointing. Aaron NSW The Doctor has been a male grandfather Time Lord since 1963 around 54 years. It was a bad decision to turn him into a female! It’s too politically correct and will just alienate the shows traditional fan base. Joel Rose NSW The Doctor should remain a male!
Though I believe the Doctor should be male, however I will give Jodie a chance even though I don't like her previous works. (I'd be fully happy if Maggie Smith was the Doctor) Emily Snell Vic Time LORD… nuff said. Yolanda WA We are long overdue for a female Doctor. So this is behind the curve, not ahead of it. But it's still brilliant and invigorating and making me genuinely excited for the Chibnall era, when I'd previously been dreading it. Robert Smith? Canada Well, I did have to check IMDB to double check, but recognised her vaguely from her photo. As with every other Doctor will wait and see, but I'm happy to see a woman in the role. Matt Cardier Qld When I heard the announcement of Jodie as the next Doctor my initial reaction, after delight, was that the Internet was going to explode. Steve Hyde ACT Whittaker has the ability to do what Patrick Troughton did – completely revitalise the role. Derek Qld Will make the series more interesting. Damian Magee WA Will not watch new series. Ryan Danes UK Will still watch and hope new Doctor does well. Nigel Mitton Vic Wonderful. Julienne Vic Would have preferred Michelle Gomez to be the Rani and for the Doc to continue as a male character. Ashley Knighton SA Yes. Actually I see making the 13th Doctor a female, as pandering to a very vocal minority. They've taken a household staple and corrupted it with gender politics. BBC has lost my loyalty and I will not watch Doctor Who again until the Doctor is a male again. Maudib Qld
Jamie Hillard SA
The response, "I will wait till I see her as the Doctor to make a decision" is not based on the fact the actor cast to portray the Doctor is a female, it would have been the response for any actor. Scott W NSW The show will be the same in name only during her tenure. I hope she will be successful. I'll be watching to see what happens. Ron Godwin NSW They should have done this years ago when Tom Baker suggested it as there would have been less resistance to the change. I worry because as a Time Lord the Doctor can travel back and forth in time and where do River and the Doctors daughter stand in the storyline. For me the Doctor literally has ended its reign of the twelve and we are starting over from the beginning with the thirteenth doctor, not really a continuation of the line of Doctors. Carolyn Foster NSW They will mishandle a female Doctor badly if it becomes "A Thing". If the scripts start consisting of "Now I'm a woman…" they'll be terrible. David Drury SA Think the 13th Doctor will do well. Liz Ward Vic 33

In fact Victoria had the greatest amount of people, proportionally, who did not watch Whovians with 1 7 saying they did not watch.

4) Do you have any comments on this section?
Absolutely, I loved it. Narelle Gilmore Vic Bring back Whovians except for Justin Hamilton’s self-promotion crap news segment. Ashley Knighton SA Bring on the Christmas special! Ron Godwin NSW Cut the Who News segment and don't invite any more politicians and the strength of the show will improve. It was good but always the better episodes were better because they had less editing and more natural chat. Craig Wellington Tas Didn't like it. Was excited by the idea… But then it was like "great episode!"… followed by rubbish. Reg Dare NSW

Didn't watch Whovians because there was something else I was following on ABC-1 after Doctor Who. Name is a bit of a turn off, too. Nikki White ACT Enjoyed the film clips and interviews. Elizabeth Trump WA Fingers crossed! Philip Pullinger SA Get a new host, have less irritating panel members… get some iconic Australian fans on the show!! Jamie Hillard SA Get rid of Rove, hate to be a gatekeeper but I refuse to watch a show hosted by a poseur. Rather have a real fan hosting or at the very least someone that isn't going to make fun of the fans. Michael Simshauser NSW Glad there were female fans in the series. Would have been nice if there were some mature ones, reminding people that the female fans are not all under 30. Rai Akers Qld Great fun – and just as importantly, prepared to take the mickey and criticise. Tony Cooke NSW Great to see the ABC recognising Aussie fans and trying to give them service. David Drury SA Hate the name Whovians. Andrew Vic Hilarious show. Yolanda WA Hopefully Whovians returns. Phillip Nicholls Vic I am not a fan of Rove, in my opinion he is a bad choice as the host. Sue NSW I can't think of anything worse than a room full of fans pontificating and telling other fans how to think… And it's even worse being MC'd by a tired comedian, who was never funny in the first place. Karen NSW I could not watch this. Rove was way too loud and shouty, and immediately dismissed the Christmas Special. Just ruined it for me. Also, I hate the title. I am a Doctor Who fan, not a Whovian, which just sounds American and juvenile and facile. Thirdly, Rove would talk (or shout) over the credits of the program he was supposed to be a fan of. Not cool. Heather Magee WA
I enjoyed it, mainly for the interviews with Doctor Who production team. Kelvin Welbourn Vic I found all a bit loud… as I didn't like this series of Doctor Who didn't enjoy. Julienne Vic I found it boring tbh and think someone else should host it. Angela NSW I have a lot of ideas on how to improve the show which would work and boost ratings but for now who nose. ;) Aaron NSW I have to add the show was awful for the first 3 or 4 episodes. By the end it was absolutely great and extremely hilarious. Carolyn NSW I like that it exists, I just don't know that I want to watch it. Better as a podcast. Cameron Munro Vic I like this show by Rove. Tony Vic I object to the name! Don't like it, never have. The concept was interesting but I was expecting more critical debate rather than D-Z graders attempting to make a name for themselves. The panel commentary was for the most part inane and a waste of time. More interesting, were the interviews and behind the scenes. But it was good to provide a forum for fans to get together to celebrate the show. Louis Scohlten NSW I only watched Whovians to see clips from next week’s episode or behind the scenes / interview clips. Fraser Qld I probably didn't even watch a whole episode of Whovians but only because I recorded Doctor Who and didn't have time to record and watch Whovians as well. It definitely has a place and I hope it continues for other fans. Raelynne Eccleston NSW I really didn't like the style of humour perpetuated in this show. Ryouga WA I think we need to get over a bit of cringe about what isn't perfect about a show like this, and support something that celebrates – not mocks a fandom. Alan Russell Vic 35
I truly dislike the term Whovians and I cringe at the antics of many fanboys, fangirls and some of the fans who suffer from social misalignment. However, it is worth putting up with the cringes to hear some more calm and rational discussion. Steve Hyde ACT I try to avoid knowing anything about upcoming episodes of Doctor Who. I don't watch trailers and I did not watch Whovians because of the risk of unwanted information. If I could have kept from knowing who is going to be the 13th Doctor, I would have done but that was impossible. Lee-Gwen Booth NSW I want a Whovians episode for the Christmas special. Scott W NSW I watched the Whovians once and was turned off as I felt half of the guests had no clue about Doctor Who. The only thing I enjoyed were the clips from Doctor Who. I am saying this from someone who has watched the entire series and all 12 Doctors since I was 45 years old. I was captivated. I am probably more of an expert than the Whovians are!! Carolyn Foster NSW I won't watch it, but if enough people enjoyed it then give it to them. Deb McCarthy NSW I would certainly like Whovians to return for future series of Doctor Who, but at the very least I hope it returns for the Christmas special this year. Seth Lukas Hynes Vic I would trade it in 2 heartbeats for the Doctor Who confidential behind the scenes to be brought back though! Kaitlyn Read Vic I'm very biased about this. I worked on Whovians. Adam Richard NSW It was good to have an Australian humour take on Who. Paul Davis Qld It was great to see Rove back on our screens again. Simon Valentine ACT It's was a bit too much sad fanwank for my liking. If you showed it to a casual fan they would turn it off in horror. Craig NSW
Just found the constant hysterical laughing over things that were not funny. Mark Corben NSW Love this show. Sam Vic Loved hearing the opinions on Whovians. Alison Fairclough Vic Loved it. It was great fun. There should be one after the Christmas special. Glyn Roberts SA More Adam and Tegan. Sharon King Vic Mostly it was OK. Vicky Manning Qld My wife stopped watching as she found it very irritating. There were some fun bits and some desperate tryhard bits that fell really flat. Jonathan Crossfield NSW Never watched it because I don't like Rove. If he wasn't there would watch it. Eloise Kippers NT Only rated Rove so low given I never watched it! Ethan Vic Really enjoyed it and like how everyone had their own opinions and weren't forced to say nice things about the episode. Plus how it appealed to all of the fandom. Classic and new fans and show classic clips. Great show. Angus T SA Rove is annoying but I really liked Adam and many of the visiting hosts. Jordan was also great but others could be left out. Sam Deimmond Qld *sigh* Whovians was the worst piece of trash, it has ever been my displeasure to sit through. If they do it next year, (and I can't believe what I'm saying ) Adam Richards should host, with Bajo and Tegan as co-hosts… Maybe… Ian Stewart Vic Sorry, not in Australia, but hoped it was still helpful to have me fill the survey in. Kerry NZ Tegan humour made the show. The live bits Rove did out on the street were childish and did nothing for the show. They weren’t even funny. Did give me time to make a cuppa though. Alfio Gallo WA 36
Terrible programme, everyone talking over each other and making stupid jokes. Diane Qld The concept of the show is good. Tegan and Adam were great. I find Rove a tad overbearing. Russ Qld There is nothing wrong with the concept. It was the Rove over the top put downs and treatment that the fans are weird nerds who never grew up. The fan panel like people on steroids . Jokes are fine but the way that they were delivered was in such a way that were directed at not with the fans. They need to watch the You-tube version of the fan show to see how it is done. Kay Ross Vic There should have been an episode for the 13th Doctor reveal! Eleanor Chandler-Temple Qld Too much playing for cheap laughs. James Baverstock SA Very variable with each guest. Adam was great, Tegan grew on me, Rove seemed competent enough but not brilliant – I found the 'He Who Knows Who' news occasionally informative but very painfully unfunny. For the most part I found the conjecture more important than the humour. Matt Cardier Qld Was disappointed they only talked about the current series. I would've found it more interesting if they had gone over some of the old series. Emily Larsen Qld Was entertaining and I hope it returns for Christmas and Series 11!!! I really hope we get a second season! It was so great to get more opinions / theories straight after the episode! Con-
We need Whovians back. Rachel Wyld NSW While I do like the idea of Whovians however I'm working odd hours and sometimes watching episodes of Doctor Who weeks late, It's just I don't have the free time. Christopher Qld Whovians is a cheap poor quality excuse for the ABC to satisfy its local production quota. Grant Watson Vic Whovians is a great way to backtrack on the episodes and to get other people’s perspectives. Melinda Brown NSW Whovians should be PG given that Doctor Who is a family show. Very often the content is not appropriate for children. Karina NSW Whovians was a wonderful addition to the schedule – great to see wellreasoned and witty banter discussing the episodes and giving voice to some ripper discussions that had previously only been held in small groups. It deserves a second series, with lots more guests showing the true diversity of the appeal of Doctor Who! Aaron Richardson Vic Whovians was excellent. Joel Rose NSW Whovians was OK but I think it was aimed mainly at people younger than myself. Patrick Moore SA Whovians was way too try-hard. Too noisy, flashy, jerky, and basically stupid. Not a real fan show at all. Susan Barley NSW Why wasn't I invited?!!! that of the 77 people who did not watch any episodes 1 4 were from overseas. This was a very high 39% of all the overseas respondents.

The Doctor was going to be the winner from the get-go. What was more interesting was who was going to come second? Assistant Coach Carroll's brutal killing was probably the reason he came in second. Edging out Ballon, excellently performed by ChikĂŠ Okonkwo, were Orla'ath (Miss Quill's sister) and the Old Woman from 'Nightvisiting'. 38

A second season may have seen a bit more story that may have saved it from cancellation. Lydia Govelli Vic Am still watching the series. Tex Stone Vic An inconsistently written series, with some very irritating lead characters, glad it got axed with no resolution. T. Beilby ACT Class couldn't hold my attention. Forgotten character names already! Reg Dare NSW Class didn't work for me. Ken McRae SA Class had real potential and it is a shame it left us on a cliff-hanger involving the Weeping Angels. Phillip Nicholls Vic Class seemed extremely derivative and undercooked. I'm not surprised it failed to find an audience. Grant Watson Vic Class was a very flawed series that didn't always work but when it did it was interesting with some great CGI. I feel a series more connected to Who would've been better – maybe a UNIT series or one focusing on former companions. Patrick Moore SA Class was abysmal. Bad stories, bad characters. Zach UK Class was an appalling and misjudged piece of television. Why does it even exist? Who is the audience for this? I liked the diversity of the cast but hated the extreme violence, found the plots weak and the premise unbelievable. Robert Smith? Canada Class was pretty terrible, I didn't like any new concepts that weren't taken from Doctor Who, not the characters, the aliens, or monsters. Only Doctor Who related series I couldn't watch all of. Aron Vic Class was very disappointing, not surprised it only lasted one series. Paul Davis Qld
Although they only appeared for a short time it was clear that the Weeping Angels were going to win, but by how much? In the end it was not as big a win as I had at first thought. The Shadow Kin made a good fist of it and although we mostly saw the Quill in human form I think the character of Miss Quill was the main reason they did so well.

It was a very tight finish, but in the end the Quill factor won out. What I really liked about the series was the number of quite good enemies that had to be contend with. The actors that portrayed them had a great chance to shine. 39
Class was wonderful. It was appealing to a younger generation. The storylines and monsters showed a potential for creativity and development lacking from a lot of current Doctor Who. A good solid retaining theme, it had the potential to have a ripper second season… Aaron Richardson Vic Corakinus was the obvious choice, but the episode with Kharrus was wonderful – ominous and amusing at the same time. Matt Cardier Qld Couldn't find it to watch. Yolanda WA Did not realise this show existed until I filled out this form. I watched The Sarah Jane Adventures. I can see me watching Class. I don't care if it is for teens. It is all related back to Doctor Who !! Carolyn Foster NSW Didn't like it at all. Terrible actors and script. Sue NSW Didn't like the show. I thought it was stupid to put the Doctor in it. The Doctor didn’t fit in this. Angus T SA Didn't really like Class it was OK but just something wrong can’t put my finger on it. Murray Harper NSW Didn't really like Class overall. Nothing memorable about it. Fraser Qld Don't get me started! Class was deeply flawed. A good idea but terribly constrained from the 1st episode. No wonder it wasn't renewed. It took itself way to seriously. The finale could've occurred in the 1st episode and saved a whole lot of people dying! And that's another thing. How can the wholesale slaughter of children, teachers and parents go by without serious police enquiry? This was an example of over the top shock for its own sake without any nod to reality. Louis Scohlten NSW Don't remember much of the episodes I watched. Tony Davidson Qld Fun series, but ran out of ideas pretty quickly. Mark Corben NSW Gave up on the show. Paul Neilson Qld I haven't watched because I haven't seen any reviews positive or negative. Michael Simshauser NSW
I adored Class, far, far more than I've enjoyed Doctor Who under Moffat's leadership. Class was clever, funny and wonderfully dark. Ethan Vic I cannot comment on Class, as I did not watch. Christopher Qld I did not watch Class and nor did I want to. Sam Deimmond Qld I didn't watch as much of Class as I wanted to because it was at an awkward time for me, but I did like what I saw. Nikki White ACT I enjoyed it – it was a bit blood thirsty at times, but kind of filled in the Torchwood gaps. Louisa WA I found each story to be slightly above average in quality, but overall I found the show quite forgettable. I can't even regiment a single character’s name. Ryouga WA I gave up watching Class after 2 episodes could not get into it… Dave White Vic I have not seen any episodes of Class. Dale Wright Qld I haven't watched it yet, but will watch it at some point. Allison Worland Vic I missed it didn't see it come up on TV… pity. Julienne Vic I really didn't like the show. Russ Qld I really wish Class had been renewed for more seasons. ☹ Susan Barley NSW I stopped watching around episode 3. For me, it’s too dark and I've got enough of that in my life. Sean Mills Vic I stopped watching Class because I considered it to overdone and focused on horror aspects too much. Maudib Qld I wish Class was continued. Lisa Cook SA If I had time (maybe I need a TARDIS!) I would have liked to watch Class but I just couldn't get around to it. But I am definitely interested in watching it one day down the track. Raelynne Eccleston NSW 40
If they are not going to continue with the series – at least have a telly-movie (or something similar) to tie up the loose ties. Rai Akers Qld It was a good show but seemed to be shackled by playing to a younger audience. If it had a more Torchwood feel it would have been great. Alfio Gallo WA It was wonderful to see another related series done so well, and with such good production values. Heather Magee WA I've said it before and I'll say it again… don't mess about with side shows and spin-offs and let Who suffer concentrate all energy on; Who. It doesn't do the spin-offs justice and it does not do Who justice. Anthony NSW Loved the show. Enjoyed it more than season 10! Jamie Hillard SA Not incredibly fair putting the 12th Doctor in one off. ;-) Mal Hewison NSW One episode was as much as I could manage. We loathed it. Terribly written with massive plot holes and a huge number of unresolved consequences. (Someone watches his girlfriend murdered in front of him, loses his own leg and is given a cybernetic one instead and is able to wander in at home as if nothing happened? Really?) Jonathan Crossfield NSW Only watched the first ep. Seemed OK, but there's too much other good TV on to keep up with it (and I thought the Doctor showing up actually diminished the drama, even if it was the most memorable bit). David Carroll NSW Shame we won't get a Class season 2. It had so much potential. :( Connor Pullinger SA
Simply woeful. Kevin Mulle WA So far I've not been able to watch Class as ABC iView won't work on my television. I'm hoping to be able to buy the series on DVD. Deb McCarthy NSW Still have to find time to watch it. Sad it isn't being renewed. Emily Larsen Qld This program was an example of how trying to please everyone for of correctness. It back fired. The series was awful. Ian UK This was a pretty patchy series. I stuck with it but knew it would not be getting a second series. It was one of those "could have beens" of TV history. Craig Wellington Tas Tried three times to watch the first episode but just couldn’t get into it. Susan Iacuone Vic Was a good show, not a great one. Wasn't as good as the main show. Craig NSW Watched it, couldn't get into it… it felt a bit wooden… Give Quill a series… Ian Stewart Vic We have not yet started to watch Class although we certainly plan to do so. Lee-Gwen Booth NSW What a shame this show completely missed the mark. Steve Hyde ACT While I did enjoy the one season of Class that I did see, I don't think it's on the same level as Doctor Who. It was good as a spin off, but not as an additional series to the show. Melinda Brown NSW Wish this had been renewed for a second season. David Drury SA Wish we were getting a season 2. :/ Philip Pullinger SA

I would have hoped for more respondents in the 1 2-1 9 bracket and would have expected more in the 20-29 bracket but the results show that, for at least this survey, fandom is getting older as the show ages.

243 people came from Australia with the greatest number from NSW. I compared the percentage of respondents Whilst fandom may be getting older from each state with the percentage of more and more fans are women and people in that state. NSW had 34% of when I did an analysis based on age I all Australian respondents and 32% of found that 50% of the 1 2-1 9 bracket the population of Australia, next was were women but this dropped dramat- Vic with 27% vs 26%, then Qld with ically to 30% in the 20-29 bracket, 1 9% vs 20%, SA 7% vs 7%, WAS 7% vs rising to 32% for 30-39, peaking at 39% 1 1 %, ACT 3% vs 2%, Tas 2% vs 2% and for 40-49 and finally 34% for the over NT 1 % vs 1 %. Thus no particular state 50s. was over represented. 42
