CELEBRATING ART 路 ART BALL 2011 Benefiting the
WELCOME TO ART BALL 2011: PASTPRESENTFUTURE! It means a great deal to have so many together, sharing a common love of the Dallas Museum of Art. As we look back on the accomplishments of the DMA, we see the promising growth of our collections and many exciting exhibitions in our future. This evening would not be possible without the generosity of Tim Headington, Michael Tregoning, and the Joule Hotel, tonight’s presenting sponsor. Thank you for making tonight’s Ball a success. It has been an honor to serve as this year’s Ball Chairman, but the true credit belongs to my amazing committee members and the DMA staff, who worked tirelessly to ensure that we exceeded our financial goals and secured top-notch luxury auction items: Brian Bolke, Molly Byrne, Jennifer Eagle, Cindy Ferris, Catherine Howell, Katherine Mathes, Katherine Perot Reeves, Jim Strong, Katie Sperry, and Debbie Stack. Your countless hours of dedication have made this a stellar night. And a big thank you to Todd Fiscus for his creative energy and for bringing this event to life. I want to give a special heartfelt thanks to my dear friends Sharon Young, Cindy Rachofsky, Julie Hawes, John Eagle and Deedie Rose and my sweet husband, John Runyon. I am forever indebted to each of you for the selfless commitment you made to this fundraising team. I honestly could not have done it without your guidance and support. You are all stars and I am honored to have each of you on my team! And finally, thank you to our guests for their past, present, and future support of the DMA, which is important to the growth of our organization and enables us to provide exciting programming and exhibitions for generations to come. Your generous support of this event is vital in turning this vision into reality. Cheers!

Smith will capture the unique characteristics of a subject’s eyes—you, your wife, or your children. A photo-editing program allows him to manipulate and stretch the selection into uniform striations, exposing its unique color signature. He then mirrors that color sequence with paint, painstakingly applying thousands of layers and lines onto an iridescent aluminum panel. Smith will create a one-of-a-kind 48” x 48” modern portrait.
