INTRODUCTION
Hello,
I am a multi-disciplined artisan with experience in graphic design, corporate design, digital media, signage design, illustration, photography plus video and audio production.
From a young age I have been fascinated by the combination of colour, type, layout, form and style. I was fascinated with font styles on the covers of books and magazines, and upon receiving a Letraset Font catalogue, my eyes were opened to the many possibilities that type offered. I spent as much time designing the covers to my assignments as developing the interior content.
Secondary school challenged and expanded my understanding of art and design, and I tried my hand at every art and drawing discipline that was placed before me. From pre-computer hand skills of technical drawing and working with wood and metal, to the finer skills of pen and brush work, painting and illustration - I studied it all.
A decade would pass between the completion of secondary school and enrolling in a three year Advanced Diploma course in Design and Media at the North Metropolitan TAFE (formally Central Institute of Technology, Northbridge and WASAD - Western Australian School of Art and Design).
Throughout the three year course my core focus was corporate design; web design; advanced illustration and design history; and I maintained a focus on the importance of colour theory, typography, design style, form and function.
I graduated at the end of 2000. Milestones achieved that same year were having my work published in Design Graphics Magazine twice, and being honoured as the “Best Illustration” student of my graduating year.
Jump forward to 2023 and I have over 20 years experience in design, marketing, print and sign industries. I progressed from print shop manager, graphic designer to studio manager, client liaison, creative development manager and freelance designer/illustrator across six different companies.
I am a creative, passionate designer that brings a high level of care and attention to detail in everything that I do. I trust you will discover this for yourself within these pages.
Best wishes,

PHOTOGRAPHY
Images captured, a moment forever frozen in time - that decisive moment to click the shutter button. The allure of photography.
A graphic designer should have a fundamental understanding of design, illustration, typography, and also photography at their disposal. My first introduction to photography was at secondary school and further at tertiary college. During my first year studying graphic design, I completed a six-month unit in analogue photography, which was at a time prior to the more common-place digital practices that we enjoy today in our everyday lives.
PHOTOGRAPHY PLASTIC PASSION
A few years ago, I was given a photo book titled ‘Toy Giants’ published by Gingko Press 2009. This stunning photographic exploration of vintage and modern designer toys bought to light that clever photography can instil life into the lifeless. An uncanny realism is present when toys are photographed as portraits.
Plastic Passion showcases photographic and digital techniques, capturing figures as still-life, showing imperfect details, models in macro and poised statues. Intended as art, as portraiture, for fun and as something more profound than the fake-plastic-realism of their existence. Art at play!
