Both the modes are way different from each other except one sole similarity i.e. both result in switching the ownership of shares from one entity/individual to another entity/individual.
Transfer V/S Transmission of Shares It is a voluntary action including the will of the shareholder.
It is an involuntary action done in case the shareholder is dead, insolvent or mentally retarded.
The shares are not sold rather they are given to the legal heir or receiver.
Adequate consideration must be there.
The recipient of the shares can be any investor who is willing to purchase the shares.
No consideration is paid.
