We are very excited to invite you to join us Sunday, June 1st, 2014 at the 5100 Club, in McFarland, Wisconsin, for the ninth annual Badger State Ballroom Dance Competition and Showcase. The day promises several general dancing opportunities, amongst the plethora of solo routines, freestyle competitions, and multi dance events. No responsibility for loss or theft in the changing rooms or ballroom can be accepted by the organizers. Nor can they be held liable for injury sustained by person or persons attending the Badger State Ballroom Dance Competition and Showcase. Smoking is not allowed in the ballroom. No alcohol carry-ins are allowed. No lifts or drops are allowed in any freestyle or multi dance event. Couples will be judged on the following: timing, lead and follow, floor craft, styling, creativity, originality, performance, poise, and technique. All amateur couples must be entered in the man’s dance level, and, if different, the younger age category. You may enter two consecutive levels.


Solo Audition

This is a generally short, first time performance to a chosen piece of music

Solo Routine

This is a routine choreographed to a chosen piece of music

Formation Routines

This is a choreographed routine for more than one couple to a chosen piece of music. The performers are judged on the same criteria as a solo routine and also on their lines and togetherness as a group

Freestyle Competitions

A competition in which dancers are competing against each other. These competitions are designed so that each couple will be competing against like couples. In the event of an uncontested freestyle competition, the couple will be judged against the standard for that level

Multi Dance Competitions

This is a 3, 4, or 5 dance group competition event. The couples are scored on each of the dances and then the scores are combined to create an overall placing for the multi dance event
