Dania Hussain - How to throw a Book Launch Party Book parties aren't your typical get-togethers. They are, and should be, a cause for celebration. You've put in a lot of time and effort into your manuscript, and now it's ready to be shared with the world. It's a true storey. A party, on the other hand, is a party. Keep that in mind.
My name is Dania Hussain, and I enjoy writing books. I make no claim to being an advertising or party planning expert. But I've hosted a book launches and distributed my publications to readers. And maybe I've picked up a few tidbits that will assist you with your debut. A nice setting, a good group, and a good atmosphere are the three primary requirements for a great launch party. Here's how you can do all three. Find the right venue. I've done book releases in bookstores and at unusual literary locations. Bookstores are fantastic and appear to be a natural fit, assuming they can accommodate the population. It's not necessarily about the amount of individuals, but rather the available space. Is there anywhere to sit in the bookstores?
Dania Hussain - How to throw a Book Launch Party Is it possible for everyone to see you and any other speakers you have scheduled? Some bookstores are ideal for this purpose, while others are not. I recommend that you think outside the box a little. Create fun. Try a game, a quiz, or a drawing for modest literary rewards like cool bookmarks, miniature diaries, or bookshop gift cards. It's possible that the quiz will be literary in nature. Make it enjoyable. I asked attendees at my latest launch to guess who penned it. There were ten quotes available. Who is the author of these words? Who do you prefer: Hemingway or me? People had to guess between quotes from Hemingway's books and quotes from my novel. The winners received small door prizes.
Food and drink. Food is significantly less important than drink. Wine, water, and soft beverages are all available. These are a must-have for every celebration. Yes, it's about your book, but it's also a party, and parties usually include alcohol. What about the food? Cheese and crackers come to mind. Simple matters. Finish it off with a cake that's big enough for everyone to get a piece. A good bakery can make a cake with frosting that looks like your book cover.
Dania Hussain - How to throw a Book Launch Party Sign a guest book. Make sure that everyone who attends signs in with their name and email address. It's not only a way to keep track of who came, but it's also a simple way to send thank-you notes and establish a database for future book events, blog posts, newsletters, and other book promotions.
Be interviewed. Before the crowd, ask your publisher, a friend, a fellow writer, or a coworker to conduct a brief interview with you. Why did you write this book in the first place? What can you tell us about the characters? How do you go about writing? And there are also entertaining questions like, "What was the first book that made you cry?" Who would you read if you could only read one author for the rest of your life?
