Hospice - The Gift of Time

Buildner architectural competition co-authors: Julia Pytko, Maciej Oberzig

The Gift of Time – A Place of Peace and Dignity earned 2nd place in the „Hospice – Home for the Terminally Ill Buildner Architectural Competition.” This building serves as a sanctuary for contemplation and healing, integrating with the local healthcare network to provide additional treatments and psychological support.

The design combines compassionate architecture with sustainability, featuring open spaces for group activities, secluded areas for reflection, and lush courtyards. Built with locally sourced materials like hempcrete, it prioritizes environmental responsibility and accessibility, fostering peace, dignity, and holistic care for all.

Local Primary School

The design of the primary school was conceived to offer an ideal learning environment while also serving the needs of the local community. The building’s facade serves as the primary frontage of the square, and when combined with the library and dining room located on the ground floor, it forms a fully-fledged public space.

The school comprises a single main block, with the central focus being the hall - the auditorium and stairs. On the 1st floor, you’ll find technical rooms, a library, a dining room, a sports complex, and children’s classrooms. Administrative offices and additional classrooms are on the 2nd floor. All of this has been planned using CLT and GLT.

Single-Family House

4th semester

The design of a single-family house in Siekierki (Warsaw) was created for a family with children. The unique plot and local zoning regulations necessitated placing the building closer to the street. The façade material is brick, which, along with the distinctive shape of the house, harmonizes with the local architectural traditions.

The primary space in the house is the living room, which opens towards the private section of the garden, it also works as passageway of the house. The kitchen is on the street side, while the bedrooms, bathroom, and office are located along the sides of the house. The garden is a vibrant flower meadow teeming with life.

Modern Townhouse in Łódź

City office architectural competition co-author: Julia Pytko

The facade of this house is a tribute to the history of the city and the main point of architectural expression. Its aim is to fit the building into the 19th century urban fabric. The façade, inspired by historical details, retains the characteristic elements of tenement houses, such as arcades, which constitute the ground floor.

The arcade is not only a functional solution that protects pedestrians from rain and sun. It is also the central meeting point of the local community and the customers. The two-story high arcades include the ground floor and the mezzanine, which is cosy space perfect for small services, catering and educational premises.

Yoga House

Buildner architectural competition co-author: Julia Pytko

The „Yoga House” is situated on a forest, by the coast in Latvia. The building is oriented towards the sea, symbolically embracing the energy of water. From the exterior, it preserves the proportions of a traditional cottage, with the yoga room replacing the traditional „black kitchen.” This room is the focal point of the building.

It receives natural illumination through a roof window in the „chimney.” On one side, there is a kitchen with a technical room and a toilet, while on the other side, there are two bedrooms for visitors with attached bathrooms. The building is constructed using wood, with minimal excavation, supported by pile foundations.

Urban Planning

The design of the southern part of Warsaw represents a contemporary interpretation of an „intensive garden city.” Greenery and water form the framework within which the traditional city is incorporated. The designed district opens towards the local lake and the acusticly closes from the noisy 4-lane highway that surounds it.

The functional foundation of the project is the „ring” - a green bypass around the estate that follows existing and planned watercourses. The courtyards within the blocks form semi-private spaces, which create the composition of public areas. The points where the „ring” intersects with the streets become urban squares.
