01 GILLS YMCA Mixed Use Housing and Senior Living | Professional Work Competition Site Location : St. Petersburg, Florida Role : Architectural Designer Timeline : August 2022 - October 2022 Satus : Senior building selected for development Client : Atlantic Pacific Project Description Torti Gallas + Partners was hired to design a senior living building and a market rate, multifamily building for a two month long competition submission. The site surrounds the existing one story YMCA facility. The project houses a total of 320 one and two bedroom units. The design embodies the Spanish Colonial style that is unique to the St. Petersburg and Tampa area. The facades fronting the YMCA are brought down a few levels to respect the height of the existing facility while also creating terraces and views of the site. The market rate building provides retail on the first floor and connects to a two-story garage that is topped with a fenced soccer fieId. Project Roles

DESIGN CONCEPT

ySatus Non-denominational place of worship : Masterplan Completed

The Hoboken Housing Authority gave us the opportunity to redesign the existing HHA housing for the initial planning phase. Our team met with the residents before proposing a number of different design schemes. Our team listened to the needs of the residents and proposed new affordable 3 and 4 story apartments with communal indoor and outdoor spaces. The proposed design extends the exisitng street grid, providing courtyards that frame the existing Mama Johnson field. Project Roles

05 HIGH STREET Affordable Multifamily Housing | Professional Work Site Location : Washington, DC Role : Architectural Designer Timeline : December 2021 - Present Satus : Permit Set Approval Stage Client : Neighborhood Development Company Project Description High Street is a 22 unit project located in the Historic Anacostia neighborhood. Each rowhouse contains two units, the basement and first floor being the lower unit, and the 2nd and 3rd floors being the upper units. The design needed to be overly sensitive to the historic context and neighboring homes. The design team met with residents and the Historic Board in order to achieve a thoughtful design. The 3rd floor is nestled in a mansard roof, giving the illusion of a 2 story townhouse. The site was particularly challenging because of the steep topography and the numerous heritage trees, so the architecture responds accordingly. Each unit has a back porch that steps down into the shared courtyard. The western end units are connected by an amenity space that contains bike storage and mailboxes. Project Roles

06 VACANT TO VIBRANT Affordable Multifamily Housing | Academic Work Site Location : West Baltimore, MD Timeline : Spring, 2021 | Thesis Professor : Ralph Bennett

Project Description This thesis aimed to address the widespread disinvestment West Baltimore faces. Baltimore has been left with nearly 16,000 vacant homes. The goal of this project was to introduce a wide variety of affordable building typologies in an area with a high density of vacant homes. By phasing these affordable houses into the site, the residents of this Baltimore neighborhood can beginto reclaim the city as their own.

07 FREEDOM DISTRICT Masterplan | Academic Work Site Location : RFK Stadium, Washington DC Timeline : Fall 2020 Professor : Matthew Bell

Project Description The Freedom District was a team project that focused on masterplanning the area surrounding RFK Stadium. The project includes a memorial within the urban design scheme, which influenced our design process. We chose to memorialize slave abolishonists and the overall accomplishments of Black Americans. The design preserves the shape of the site, but infiltrates the urban fabric with shops, residential buildings, and outdoor public space.

08 TRANSITION Visitor Center | Academic Work Site Location : Alexandria, Virginia Timeline : Fall, 2019 Professor : Julie Gabrielli Project Description The goal of this team project was to create a visitor’s center for Wright’s house. We wanted to design a space that embraces the surrounding landscape while making the path to the main attraction more apparent. There is a feeling of tranquility when entering the Pope Leighey site and that feeling never dissipates upon arriving to the site. Once one approaches they are immediately greeted by a forest of trees that clear to reveal the site. We strived to emphasize the “transition” that one feels on the paths to the house as well as the historic Woodlawn Plantation. The purpose of this projet is to elongate the path and link Woodlawn and Pope Leighey. This path should be celebratory as it guides visitors through the entirety of the site.
