PORSCHE 911 Originally named the Porsche 901, it was the successor of the Porsche 356. The name was changed to reduce the risk of conflict with Peugeot. This vehicle was made with an extra set of seats compared to the 356. This made the vehicle larger compared to the 356.
The iconic classic was first launched in Frankfurt, Germany at the International Motor Show. The full production of the vehicle later began in 1964 at the Porsche factory in Zuffenhausen, Germany.
PORSCHE 911 G The Porsche 911 G Series is the first model introduced by Porsche to have an alphabetical letter in the title. The G Series was also one of the first models to have a noticable difference in the body style and mechanics. The G Series was manufactured between the years of 1973-1989 which is a considerably long time. A big change that happened in these years was turbocharging the 911. This brought a new level of power and speed to the brand.
PORSCHE 964 The Porsche 964 was introduced at the end of the 1980’s and brought a lot of good change to the vehicle. About 85% of the new models technology had been updated. This model brought four-wheel drive, power steering, ABS brakes, as well as airbags. Due to the new technology in the automotive industry, cars such as the 964 had become a lot safer than previous models
PORSCHE 993 The Porsche 993 is one of the most recognizable and respected models within the car community. It was the first model to see the use of the twin-turbo charger. This vehicle was the last one to use the air-cooled engine. It had three different intakes on the front of the car, and an addition of a few air slots on the side in order to help cool down the brakes. The car was a combination of all things good.
It had the agility of a car with rear wheel drive, but the usefulness of a car that had all-wheel drive which helped the driver get around to wherever, whenever.
PORSCHE 996 In 1988, the water-cooled Porsche 996 was introduced. This caused some controversy, as those from the car community inssisted that the vehicle had strayed from what it is known for.
Along with the loss of the air-cooled engine, the 996 underwent a style change which included the discontinuation of the iconic elliptical headlights. Regardless of the changes, this vehicle is still an inconic piece of history for those who had the shared fascination of Porsche.
PORSCHE 996.2 After the engine updates of the previous models in the later 1900’s, this model underwent a completely new design change to the aesthetics of the car. This included a glass roof variant, a new interior and an overall curvier appearance. One of the most notable variant of this time being the animated car Sally, from the Pixar movie “Cars.”
PORSCHE 997 Again, with the new design language, the Porsche 997 introduced the bug eye headlights which are still considered a recognizable part of Porsche’s history today. Another update to this model is to the vehicle’s engine.The engine was equipped with a direct injection which allowed for the vehicle to have lower fuel consumption and emissions. This also improved the power of the vehicle’s engine.
PORSCHE 997.2 Not much had changed between the previous model and the Porsche 997.2 other than a couple beneath the hood. The PDK twin clutch gearbox marked a change to Porsche which significantly improved the ride compared to the Tiptronic automatic.
PORSCHE 991 Considered one of the most aesthetically appealing Porsches in the last decade, the 991 came out with a new rounded-edge design that was popular among the car community.
One of the new additions to this vehicle that was not as popular was the introduction of electric steering. This quickly became overlooked, as the improvments of the vehicle shined brighter. It ws also one of the last versions of the 911 to have a naturally aspirated Carrera that had that iconic rev.
PORSCHE 991.2 The Porsche 991.2 flaunted its new style which included a new front and rear bumper, as well as new dual exhaust pipes, and different headlight and tail lights. The change also included a 3-litre flat-six turbo engine in models. This once again caused some upset within the community but new things such as these new and updated advancments are what allow for achievements such as the most powerful Porsche yet.
PORSCHE 992 The Porsche 992 looks relatively simlar to the 991, but it has a few new additions. It has the light bar along the back of the model as well as the track width of the vehicle on all models instead of just a select few.
This model was also one of the first to be seen as the future of Porsche technology. The future is getting progressively more hybrid or electric, and the Porsche 992 was just the beginning of changes that could be seen for the future of the company.
PORSCHE TAYCAN Now, the first fully electric model of Porsche. This vehicle features an 800-volt battery to power it. This is the first time it has ever been seen in a production vehicle. It has quickly become he fastest four-door electric vehicle at the Nurburgring. This car marks a turn in vehicle production for the better of the environment and future of vehicle emissions within the sportscar community.
