FL 4x2 15t New Fire Concept Volvo B-type Water Tender
At 15 tonnes the Volvo FL is the light, compact water tender ideal for working in rural areas, towns and cities. With its 6 speed Allison box and compact size matched with a choice of 260 or 290hp engine the FL can nip in and around city centre traffic with the driver fully focussed on the shout. Running on 19.5” wheel and tyres the FL has a low step entry and a low centre of gravity. Now with Volvo’s New Fire Concept for building fire trucks, you can order the FL complete with crew cab, fire pump, bodywork and even final fitting out chosen from a menu of pre-defined layouts. Based on the Volvo FL L 15/16 tonne chassis, this special Volvo is supplied with a full all steel 4-door crew cab with space for up to 4 crew in breathing apparatus and a further 2 to 4 persons including the driver. For long service life and maximum protection the cab is supplied in Agra red direct from the factory.

Automatic Gearbox AL306 and Integral retarder Smoothly and conveniently operate the automatic 6-speed gearbox via push buttons located on the lower dash panel, whilst the integral retarder stalk is conveniently located on the steering column. The automatic gearbox and retarder reduce stress on the truck and on the driver in this tough stop start environment where the driver must be in full control. The hydraulic torque converter provides considerable torque amplification when pulling away which is important in this application when every second counts.

The AL306 is equipped with a live drive Chelsea 859 flange power take off and drive shafts to the pump. Chassis Packaged to suit the body To reduce manufacturing time the FL is built with the chassis packaged to ensure the sides of the chassis are clear, eliminating rework at the bodybuilders. The vehicle has a galvanised helper frame with body mountings, fire pump mountings (Godiva Prima), centred rear mounted fuel tank, off-side fuel fill, a bodybuilder module and additional wiring to ensure full functionality with the body electronics. Volvo Trucks works closely with bodybuilders providing training and information via the Volvo Bodybuilder Information VBI website http://vbi.truck.volvo.com. Bodywork Unique design by Strongs for Volvo, fully welded integral construction in co-polymer plastic. Stiff, impact resistant structure which is easily repaired in the event of accidental damage. Low 1800 lt water tank, optional foam tank, supplied with all doors, final fitting out specification chosen from a menu of pre-defined layouts/options.
