Community I was drawn to the idea of community, what defines a community, and how a community interacts. I was fascinated with the concept of paying it forward, random acts of kindness, and “trail magic. And how individuals self-sacrifice for the greater good of the group.

Persona Diego Munoz Age: 35 Family of 4 An active, outdoors husband regularly explores new campgrounds, forests, and National Parks with his family for their vacations. Diego is a professional chef, and an instructor atLe Cordon Bleu. Duality is very important to him for his busy schedule.
Daniel Chaffee
9
Inspiration Ideas were derived from looking at what elements facilitate interaction among a community. What is valued and what is shared. While looking at the form nature takes as a life bearing vessel.
chaffeedaniel@yahoo.com
10
Ideation I was struck with the idea that at a primal level, a community is connected by food. I took this notion and adapted it for a community on-the-go. User interaction was an area I wanted to focus on. I believe making the user interact with the backpack in an interesting and unusual way would make it stand out in the market. It is these little obscure interactions that are remembered and keep the users returning.

Users Tech savvy families and young couples who use their television to surf the web, play music, and watch Netflix. They own many touch screen devices and game consoles.

21
Market Research Traditional remotes require a certain finesse to use and a mastery over an overwhelming number of buttons. Their skill to operate comes with time through trial and error.

Antequated Style
A remote’s slim figure allows it to hide between couch cushions, in the shadows, or even in plain site.

New Technologies
Missmatched buttons, small fonts, and obtuse grids create confusion for the simplest tasks.
chaffeedaniel@yahoo.com
Gaming technology can be used to update remotes. Joysticks will ease on screen navigation while touch screens can create shortcuts.

Who’s buying homes? After married couples, single women are the largest demographic of home buyers; occupying nearly a fifth of the market. This niche market consists of women in white-collar occupations with a fast-pace lifestyle.

Ideation Current chainsaws are ridden with superfluous forms and curves. My designs try to reduce the form to what is necessary for function. Therefor making the components used the only design elements.

36
Form Development The evolution consisted of examining the handle to motor to body ratio. Eventually leading toa simple, practical, and ergonomic form.

Inspiration I looked at different ways to cut wind resistence, both manufactured and natural methods. For aesthetics, I wanted to break as far away from traditional cars as possible. For this thing to be fast, I knew it had to look otherworldy. Daniel Chaffee

Ideation The rocket car is a synthesis of different inspirations. To increase acceleration, the body must have a protruding center spine similar to that of car spikes. This spine lent itself to new instectoid shapes. chaffeedaniel@yahoo.com
