I am a wife and mother of three daughters.
Profile: Jen MuÑoz
A self taught artist, I dabble in almost every medium, but especially love knitting, calligraphy, watercolors, and collage. I studied elementary education and early childhood development, receiving a BA with a focus on arts and childhood education and minor in interpersonal communications. Child advocacy is my passion. I love being a facilitator of art for young children and seeing them experience and explore art for the first or 1,001st time is very special. I focus on the process of making artwork with children over the execution of a set project to allow them to learn, experiment, and explore; facilitating their own expression while giving range to their curiosity and autonomy over their artistic vision. 2
Q A F s Classe
What is your cancellation policy?
How often are classes offered? There are four sessions of classes each year. The line-up is different each session so let us know if you are looking for a particular class! Session One runs January to mid-March, Session Two Mid-March to May, Session Three June to August, and Session Four September to December. Pop up events are always being added to the schedule! Schedules are released during the month prior to the Session.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes! We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. We also offer gift cards in any denomination.
How do I register?
You may register for classes in person or over the phone. Mailing registrations is highly discouraged as the class may be filled by the time it gets to us. Online registration is in the works but not available at this time.
Can I observe a class?
Sitting in or observing a class is only possible with prior permission of the instructor and is a rare occurance. Guardians are welcome to stay at the art center during their child’s class. The green chairs are quite comfortable! (and there’s wifi...)
Do I have to fill out a registration form every time?
Yes. A form is currently required for each registration. Not only do these forms help us contact you in case of emergency, they also help us know what classes are popular and who our students are. They also contain important liability and photo release information!
Looking for a gift for someone? BAC gift cards are perfect!
Generally, refunds are not available on classes except in cases of emergency. In some cases the registration fee may be applied to a different class. Sometimes, we must cancel a class due to instructor illness, weather, or other emergency, in which case we will discuss options with the students affected. Purchases of art from the gift shop or galleries are final.
even for low Enrollment?
Classes will not be canceled for low enrollment, excepting those in the pottery studio or those taught by guest instructors. Pottery studio classes require materials to be prepared in batches which makes them unfeasible for one or two students. Guest instructors will be clearly marked as such in the brochure listings.
What if the weather is awful?
If Buchanan Area Schools close the BAC will close as well. The BAC will announce any such closure on our facebook page. It is imperative to include the best phone number to contact you in case of last minute closures. Should you have any question if the BAC is open, please call ahead to check. We have students coming from distances and the weather may be different along the drive so we ask that you use your best judgement when deciding to come to class in bad weather.
Does the BAC offer open studio?
Anyone in the community is welcome to the BAC during open hours to browse our art library, sketch or paint in our sculpture garden, galleries, or classroom (if not in use by a class or BAC project - please check with the volunteer.) Mediums that require equipment or extensive setup are not allowed at this time. Students are not allowed to work in the pottery studio without an instructor or facilitator present.

Jewelry Series
Without soldering, make chains to your own style, graceful and elegant, bold and masculine, or a mix! Learn to make components for the exact length and size chain you want. Make simple clasps or purchase pre-made. We will be cutting, sawing, filing, shaping, and possibly forging. We will be working with silver, silver-filled, copper, and/or brass wire. Choice of metals will be offered at cost, or bring your own. Total cost varies depending on chosen material and project. An estimated $5 for a bracelet of filled wire, copper, or brass. A sterling silver bracelet could cost $20 or more. Silver-filled has a measurable layer of sterling over a white metal core – it is far superior to plated wire, but less expensive than sterling. See the individual chain types below and choose to attend one or all! Save by registering for the series as a whole for $60 for members and $70 for non members.
