The Lone Wolf brand was something that had been brewing for awhile. I run solo a lot it’s my meditation time.

There was a lot of collateral spun off from Lone Wolf Apparel. I didn’t realize how much I was about to immerse myself into a world I felt so passionate about running and environmental causes.

It slowly started spilling out in school.

And so the new found obsession insued. Posters, branding, labeling, whatever was coming down the pipe. It was all about Lone Wolf for a spell. It was good to get obsessed with a thing and push it all around to see what would unveiled itseld. It also forced me to start really usuing multiple softwares which, helped me grow fairly quickly.

They need to be worrying about feeling good almost every day. They have to really hit their interval workouts hard and just jog easy for recovery in between. HISTORY OF THE GC50 In 2010 founders of Iron Clad Events saw a lack of ultra competition in the midwest. Sure it was well known in the Americas southwest regions and, California (where Iron Clad is based out of) was booming with events. Mike Davis and Troy Atwater couldn’t ignore what they were seeing in the forums on the web though. “ It seemed like no matter what chat room we got into all we heard was the Marathon was about the only thing we have out here in the midwest”(Davis). So basically we got off our duffs. It didn’t make much sense to them anymore. Why should just the California kids be the only ones having fun? Mike and Troy talked with their sponsors. Along side Kansas City Parks and Rec. they settled on a narly spot called Cliff Drive in Kansas City Missouri, in Minor Park. The race set a new challenge for all local residents and, drew quite thee ticket from the surrounding states as well once word caught on. Now the Gut Check proudly brings its fifth annual event. The first year the event was held it brought in about 350 participants this year it’s looking to peak with well over 2000. Age to get in, 16 and above. Maximum age dared, Buck Conroy, last year age, 82. If Buck can do it, so can you!

Whats gonna hurt like hell today. 1.)Your heads gonna’ hurt like hell beacause your hearts going to be racing to make more blood for oxygen. 2.) Your hearts gonna’ hurt like hell because your legs are gonna’ need all the blood they can get. 3) Your guts gonna’ hurt like hell today because your here and, running a 50 k. 4.) Your legs are gonna hurt like hell because your guts not digesting correctley in order to produce the right amount of glycogen. 5.) Probabley the one thing that’s gonna’ hurt like hell the most, is your time. If you came out expecting to set a new PR forget it. If all 4 things are not clicking above number five consider your time wasted .

So you think your tough Hopefully your as tough as Penny Linshaw 34. Penny finished last years event in a blazing 5:36 hr landing her with first place awards and, finishing only minutes off the number one top elite male. So if you think you got what it takes to beat a girl, we invite yo to come out an challenge Penny. Please be warned though even though you work on things in the garage and, never get them fixed. Or beacuse you hall some stuff around in a truck all week that does all the work for you. Don’t get mad tough guy when your eating the dust off Pennys Mizunos.

THE WHATS AND WHERES AND WEARS? In the rear with the gear - There a saying in Kansas and Missouri. “ If you don’t like the weather, hang around for about five minutes”. No saying could be more true. Temperatures each year can range from 68 degrees and puring buckets. Or dry as the desert and, 105. Stuff your duffle bags with an array of different gear for those last minute, need be, tweaks. It aint a fancy race so unless you want to destroy those prized Newton shoes your so proud of you may want to bust out those old New Balance that are about 3000 miles path their death. We suggest wearing light colored clothes to show off the badges you earn and to stay cool.

The course is a horse - Not only is it just a 50k ulra event. There will be many obstacles along the way as well. The range elevates to a maximum 130 ft. No big deal for the average mountain man ultra runner. That is why we throw in 5 lovley walls that will be soaked in mud, 3 sections to belly crawl that are 30 ft. in length and, two swing ropes that if you dont hit just right will leave you stranded on the other side until you do. The course is jagged and rocky so be on the lookout for the nooks and, drops. Celebrate bad times - The course is brutal. There are no pasta dinners at the end. However it’s a traditional kumbbaya campfire ceramony. It’s become tradition at the gut check to B.Y.O.B. and bond with all your fellow survivors at the end via our bonfire fest. In it’s tradition the ultimate award will be given out to the top male and female. It dosen’t hang around your neck, in fact it sort of stinks. Every new years winner gets the honor of the prvious years winners shoes. Ewww...oh but the honor. So come have a brew and get to see who gets the new stinks.

Collateral Design So it was a great question that came about, who would you re-design for if they launched a new product? It could have been in any industry. With my deep love of music Nine Inch Nails first came to mind because the bands always been big on visually presenting themselves. However, I didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t want to just do another Nine Inch Nails cover. I figured why not give it a tweek and make it Trent Reznors (the lead singer) first solo album. Yes that worked because, I saw a potential to show how Trent had matured in the music industry and was coming into his own. This brought forth a golden era for him in my mind, as to where the previous naive dark side of him he had sort of grown out of.

Not forgetting his roots though I added elements of the darker side of his past but they were subdominant versus the break out into gold.

Collateral Design There were other ideas for posters along the way. I really liked all of them but had to rule on one. The one before this page won out simply because after final analysis I thought it showed a higher technical aptitude with Photoshop and Illustrator software. As well I was really trying to streamline the whole gold feel and believed that I was still getting just a little dark with some of the other options. I think in the end though we should not totally dismiss our side projects as sometimes they are very beautiful as well. Itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s just sometimes they donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t line up with the overall objective.

TR Trent Reznors first exclusive solo album “Gold” has let the man behind the machine finally break loose and just purely create. Under Three Legged Dog Production Co. The stage was set for long time fans that just wanted to hear the recording phenom do what he does best, get further outside the box. In “Gold” we see a falling away of all the rage and, we move into the lite, experimental, tonal, orientations. “Gold” is forever.

As a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, he has led the industrial rock project Nine Inch Nails since 1988. Collateral Design All be it the whole campaign was a blast to do it was the little intricacies I had to nail down. UPC codes, branding for a production on a smaller lever that did not dominate the focal point of the album were all new tasks. It truly introduced me to the power of vector as far as how small or big you can make a thing. With the little things itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s of upmost importance that that elements should legible. As you see with the quirky 3 Legged Dog Productions I was able to shrink it down immensely while still keeping good quality. The log appears again later on in the folio for a better look at the variation.

I played a lot with the Night Crawler theme. I was alaways trying to get to that perfect nineties industrial rock feel. That was the mission though. What does a time period say towards a font style. With this particular type of music during those days it had to be somewhat mechanical and, digital in a way sort of before it’s time. I consider the music genre ahead of it’s time and, it brought forth a lot of art work that was ahead of it’s time.

Typography Some of the posters for the show were missing the mark just a bit for the time period. I felt it still didnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t take away from the fact some moderatly good works were coming from the class. Here I really started playing with tracking a bit more and justification.

So the test was fun, make one funtioning composition that delt with one particular font but make it look like all different fonts.

Hereâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s one of my pencil skirts I found to be simple but elegant just by using one line for the key element.

Other things on Redbubble sort of got away on me. Like my 4 World series. I realized I had been downloading posters at 300dpi, something the printers cannot handle at Redbubble. Live and learn, it was beside the fact I had already begun a new series. Finding some of the pictures along the way though for my folios sake I think shows my style a lot. It also shows where my mind will wonder as far as creativity. In other words I feel as if Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m always getting my hands into a little bit of everything.

Another fine piece I really wish I wouldnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t have tossed but am glad I held on to the PDF file. The 4 or the word world was always meant to be implemented in these works. They were to eventually to become suggestive towards green issues and our involvement with how we are treating the planet in which we occupy.

While working in the sign industry at Kansas City Tent in awning I learned a lot about design. One thingâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s certain in the sign industry youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re not sitting behind a computer all day. Dealing with clients, going to instalation sites, doing inventory of product, fallowing progress via spreadsheats, running the plotter cutters, application to substrates, and even installing yourelf were just a small handfull of things I had to multi task on a regular day to day. Gregg Henja is a local photographer in Knasas City and I was happy to come up up with something a little more hip for his store. So slick...

Real Life Work I guess I could have gone with a more boxed of look on the typography here. That would have perhaps given The 4700 project a more classic look. After weighing it for some time the rounded off edges on the bars and stems just kept bringing me back. I installed this one and welded the frame togehter as well. Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m cerified in aluminum and steal M.I.G. & T.I.G welding.

From small mom and pop shops to major corporate clients I dealt with different levels of clientele. For bigger corporate jobs the work load was very heavy. However we never put the small guy off to the side. The orders came in to be completed by when they came in. Each customer was treated with respect no matter how big the contract or pocket book.

Backlit

We were no stranger to backlit awnings. An opposite process of appplying a mask then pulling the cut out to apply paint, with backlit awnings the whole surface was covered with scotchcal then the letters you removed were washed down with acetone to get rid of the color of the actual substrate and make it translucent.

Real Life Work Variations

Somtimes it was not all fun logos and font design. Some times it was just very exact, percise, and repetitive. Sometimes it was completley architecual and I would get very into the instalation process and how to build via blue-print. No matter how you cut the application I was learning different techniques outside the computer design rehlm. You really had to learn the physical tools and measurments of the tools out in the field.
