Welcome to Athlone Institute of Technology “The staff really care about us as students. They are interested in our well-being, and are always approachable – inside and outside the lecture theatre.” Theo Watts, 4th Year ICT Engineering student. The friendly nature of our campus is one of the things that students like most about AIT. We want you to do well, and that comes across in everything we do. So, whether it’s in class or in the coffee dock, we’re there for you. Dive in to explore our world and discover yours. Our Interactive open day will consist of a range of course related lectures, live demonstrations as well as information stands on all courses, student supports, fees and grants, clubs and societies and lots more. Campus tours will run every 15 minutes from the main reception. The tours will showcase our state-of-the-art facilities along with the student services available on campus. We are delighted to welcome you on campus today for our Interactive Open Day. Remember to ask lots of questions and get involved in our interactive demonstrations. With the CAO Change of Mind window opening soon, we are here to assist you throughout your decision making process by hosting Snapchat Q&A’s, offering a CAO helpline and delivering campus tours to answer any questions you might have, just get in touch by emailing askus@ait.ie or phone 090 646 8136

Step by Step Guide to your Interactive Open Day The event will begin at 10am sharp.
Parking is available on campus and is free.
Upon arrival all attendee’s will be welcomed and directed to the main campus for registration.
Each attendee will be given a sticker based on their faculty of interest. Yellow for Engineering & Informatics, Blue for Business & Hospitality or Pink for Science & Health. Attendees will then have an opportunity to visit stands in the main central zone including Students Supports, Fees & Grants, Admissions, SUSI, Sport, Clubs and Societies, Research etc.
The Interactive element of the Open Day begins at 10:45am. Attendees will be split into their courses of interest.
Interactive demos, talks, tours will last 30 minutes approx.
Attendees are not restricted to one course and will be able to mix between several courses if they wish.
Campus tours will run every 15 minutes.
The event will conclude at 1pm.

What do I do? 1.
Information Stands Information stands will be located in the main campus, this will give you the chance to meet our Open Day staff and chat to some of our student ambassadors on a one-to-one basis.

Faculty stands For academic information on all AIT courses, you can meet staff from all our faculties and departments.
3.
Subject Talks Information on all CAO programmes will be covered in each of the relevant subject talks. There will also be general talks throughout the morning.
4.
Tours - The following tours are available at regular intervals throughout the morning; Campus - This is a guided tour which will show you the highlights of the AIT campus. - Tours will depart every 15 mins between 10.45am with the last tour taking place 30 mins before closing. - All tours leave from the main reception meeting point. AIT Sport Arena - Tours are available at regular intervals throughout the day. - Ask at the AIT gym stand for tours.

AIT celebrates its incoming first year students through our Scholarship of Excellence Programme. This is in recognition of the 500+ points they achieve in their leaving certificate examinations. Scholarships aim to congratulate students on their academic endeavour to show that we support them on their journey. Scholarships are awarded to entrants on fulltime undergraduate programmes at higher certificate (level 6) Ordinary Degree (level 7) or Hons Degree (level 8) programmes.

AIT Design Technology & Innovation Summer School 11th – 15th June 2018 FREE PLACES For transition and 5th year students Do you have an idea or a product that you would love to develop, design, create and prototype in our experimental maker lab? Would you like to explore more about the world of design, technology, business and innovation to discover what it’s all about and see how the Top 100 companies in the world use these skills to remain competitive? AIT is offering 60 free places for our summer school which will immerse students in an exciting world for one week. In today’s world, design, technology and innovation play a huge role in finding solutions to problems that impact upon every aspect of our lives and students will get an opportunity to learn how to design, develop and commercialise technology products and services in our week long, hands on practical experimental maker lab. Students will come up with an idea, engage in research with the end user, plot it onto a business 20 model canvas, look at the potential brand identity of
the product, engage in a digital marketing workshop to look at marketing strategy and viability and they will 3D print and pitch the product at the end of the week. You will learn in a fun and interactive way through the marshmallow and lego challenge, business model canvas, prototyping and 3D printing to name but a few. There will also be team building and sporting activities and a masterclass and fireside chat from an industry giant within the sector so that you can learn from the best and hear their story. Lunch will be provided each day in order to keep you fuelled up to maximise your creative juices. The FREE PLACES are limited to 60 students.
