the gourmand magazine spreads

Various magazine spreads created for food magazine The Gourmand. Each spread was designed to fit in with the magazine’s editorial style. Each layout was assymetrical. Here are three different variations of the layout which included collage and geometric shapes.

Liqueur bottle & box The brief was to redesign traditional liqueur packaging to appeal to a younger market. The redesign was of the label of a 35cl bottle of Liqueur de Pamplemousse along with a presentation box in a matching style. The typography was handcut and collaged. The packaging design uses diagonal lines inspired by architectural photographs.

culturalshifts in graphic design leaflet An A3 leaflet was required for a 3 day event at City Lit for the International Society of Typographic Designers. The brief was to design a folded double side leaflet for the event. It needed to focus on a single bold image with effective typography. This design used an image of folded graph paper (scanned) to create the background pattern and kept the typography contemporary yet bold.

alltomorrow’s parties festival A design style was required for an All Tomorrow’s Parties festival in Iceland. The style needed to be across various elements of the event including tickets, posters and a festival magazine. A geometric element was required as part of the brief and the colour palette was limited to a few colours. The geometric and colour element of this design was based on Iceland’s glaciers and volcanoes reflecting on Iceland’s rugged landscape, volatile geology and varied natural beauty.

Various typography styles created for a typography sketchbook.
