Message from the Board Chairman

am so very honored to have been elected as Chairman of the Board of the Humane Society of Greater Miami. My husband, Milton, and I are involved with many worthwhile charities but the Humane Society is very dear to us. We have always been advocates for abandoned and homeless animals. I am very proud to be part of such a well-run organization whose mission I strongly support. Every animal cared for at our shelter is free from the threat of euthanasia until an adoptive family is found. More than 2,500 animals, every year, find their human companions and begin their new lives in loving homes. Today, more than 300 homeless dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens are cared for every day at the Soffer and Fine Adoption Center.

Anyone who owns a pet knows that pets give unconditional love to every member of the family. Put as simply as possible, pets make us feel good! Lucky dogs and cats are in loving homes, but there are countless abandoned and abused animals that canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t speak for themselves and need our help. The Humane Society is one of the most valuable resources for them. We are not government funded and rely solely on the generosity of the community to support our mission. Funds are raised through private donations, fundraising events like Pawpurrazzi, and grants. For this reason, we are so appreciative of your financial support and attendance at this event. One of our goals is to end our communityâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s pet overpopulation problem. To meet this challenge, we performed more than 13,000 spay/neuter surgeries last year. In addition, staff and volunteers of the Humane Society of Greater Miami travel to schools, libraries, organizations and clubs to teach the community about responsible pet ownership. This is just the tip of the iceberg of what we do, but I hope it gives you an idea of how the Humane Society helps animals and reaches out to the community with a variety of programs. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support tonight. We can sleep a little better knowing that we have helped many homeless and abandoned animals by your attendance here at Pawpurrazzi. I know you will have a wonderful time at this one-of-a-kind event. Message from the Past Chairman As the Humane Society of Greater Miami’s immediate past Chairman of the Board of Directors, I want to thank the Humane Society’s Board of Directors and incredible staff and volunteers for a great three years as chairman of the board! I especially want to thank and congratulate our new chair, Pat Wallace, for her passion, commitment and dedication to the Humane Society of Greater Miami and to the homeless pets of MiamiDade County. Under Pat’s leadership, we are poised for even greater success!

Robert W. Hudson Message from the Executive Director Once again, we are entering a new year of challenging economic times. Many more families are unable to keep their beloved pets due to their financial difficulties. Your support has made it possible for us to help those animals in need, and to find them new forever loving homes. However, it is times like these that the Humane Society of Greater Miami recognizes, above all, those that have supported our efforts to help achieve our mission. We thank you for your continued help. With the funds raised over this past year, we were able to increase pet adoptions, provide affordable spay/neuter services and lowcost vaccinations, as well as, educate children and adults about responsible pet ownership. We are entering into our second year of partnership with the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), Miami-Dade Animal Services, and The Cat Network, Inc. to increase adoptions in Miami-Dade County. The Humane Society of Greater Miami is proud to be selected as part of this collaborative effort to create a more “humane community”. With their help and yours, we are already making a difference. As we move into our 76th year, we would like to acknowledge with gratitude, the enormous dedication, support, and hard work from the chairpeople and committees of Pawpurrazzi. The Humane Society of Greater Miami Adopt-A-Pet is a limited admit, adoption guarantee facility dedicated to placing every dog and cat in our care into a loving home, and to promoting responsible pet ownership and spay/neuter programs. Adoption guarantee means that every animal under our care is safe from the threat of euthanasia for as long as it takes to find them a forever and loving family.

Who We Are... The Humane Society of Greater Miami has been helping the abandoned animals in Miami-Dade County since 1936. Today, more than 300 homeless dogs, cats, puppies and kittens are cared for every day at the Soffer and Fine Adoption Center in North Miami Beach. We are able to give these animals a second chance by providing food, shelter, and medical care for as long as it takes to find them a kind and loving home.

In addition, counseling and guidance are provided to make sure the right pet is adopted into the right home. Staff and volunteers of the Humane Society of Greater Miami travel to schools, libraries, organizations and clubs to teach the community about responsible pet ownership and to promote the human/animal bond. Every year, through our educational program, more than 6,000 children and adults are encouraged to be kind to animals and taught the seriousness of pet overpopulation.

Thanks to a major commitment from the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), and in partnership with Miami-Dade Animal Services and The Cat Network, we are proud to be part of a collaborative effort to create a more “humane community”, by increasing the number of animals who leave the shelter system alive. Miami-Dade County is one of 11 communities, nationwide, chosen to be a partner with the ASPCA.

Unconditional love and acceptance are two of the many rewards of owning a pet. It is well documented that interaction with animals can significantly improve our physical and emotional health. The Humane Society of Greater Miami’s Pet Therapy Program brings the unique and healing human/animal bond to residents and patients of healthcare facilities, rehabilitation centers, children’s hospitals and senior citizen homes throughout Miami. Put as simply as possible, pets make us feel good!

The Humane Society runs two veterinary clinics, one in North Miami Beach and another in Cutler Bay. Our goal is to end our community’s pet overpopulation problem. To meet this challenge, we performed more than 13,000 spay/neuter surgeries last year. Programs are available that provide free resources for vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries for those financially disadvantaged people of our community.

The rewards of nurturing, caring, and providing a loving home to abandoned animals are innumerable and the love received in return is truly unconditional. The rewards are great - our friends often tell us that their pets are their “four-legged children”, and in addition, they don’t ask us for money and they certainly don’t talk back. In the last couple of years, we have grown to know the staff and volunteers at the Humane Society of Greater Miami and have learned about their organized efforts to eradicate pet homelessness. Because we share a passion for helping animals in need, we decided to embrace this cause. The Humane Society of Greater Miami is the unified voice for animals in our community. On a daily basis, the organization takes in homeless dogs and cats, ensures that they are healthy and ready for adoption, and, later, places them in loving homes with people who have passed an adoption interview. No matter how long it takes, all pets are free from the threat of euthanasia while waiting for their forever home. Their success rate is phenomenal and they truly have the means and training to make an adoption permanent. We’re continuously amazed at what the organization does with great devotion and dedication, and very limited financial resources. Please join us in a toast to the Humane Society of Greater Miami, the wonderful dogs who are here with us tonight, and those dogs and cats who are at home. These loving and loyal companions give us so much and ask for so little in return. They are true angels! To all of you, thank you for being here tonight and helping the animals while they wait for their permanent, loving family, and for helping to improve the lives of all animals in our community. Message from the Co-Chairman I am honored to be Co-Chairman of Pawpurrazzi 2012 with my dear friends, Pat and Milton Wallace. This fabulous, annual event has grown into such a successful and popular affair because of their vision, devotion, and limitless energy. I am inspired by their mission to help our four-legged friends in the Greater Miami area. I whole heartedly echo their thanks and praise for your efforts and generosity. I am very proud to be among so many committed people who have made Pawpurrazzi one of the most exciting events in town-- what terrific company I have! It is also a pleasure to work with the staff of the Humane Society of Greater Miami, whose love for the animals in their care is unparalleled. We couldnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t do it without their devotion and hard work. Again, I thank all of you for your generosity. In this economic environment, sometimes pets are the first to feel the brunt of tough financial times. As animal lovers, we all want to do what we can to ensure these pets are protected and nurtured. Pawpurrazzi Hall of Fame In 2010, the Hall of Fame was established to recognize donors contributing, cumulatively, $50,000 or more to Pawpurrazzi. With great pride, at Pawpurrazzi 2010, we announced our first inductees: Mr. R. Kirk Landon and Ms. Pamela Garrison. Contributions made by Hall of Fame members and Golden Hall of Fame members significantly help the organization carry out its mission of finding a loving home for all animals, and to promoting responsible pet ownership and spay/neuter programs. It is because of the generosity of all Hall of Fame members, that we are able to continue to save more animals each year and offer valuable programs and services to our community. This year, we are extremely proud and honored to announce our first Golden Hall of Fame member: The Batchelor Foundation. This prestigious Foundation gives back to the community in so many ways. We are truly grateful for its belief in the importance of helping the homeless and abandoned animals of our community.

The Batchelor Foundation The Batchelor Foundation, founded in 1990 by George E. Batchelor, has donated tens of millions of dollars to a variety of worthy causes in South Florida. The Foundation gives back to the community in many ways that improve the quality of life of both people and animals. The Foundation has been extremely generous and loyal supporters of the Humane Society of Greater Miami for more than 10 years. Its financial support has influenced every aspect of the organization, including a wing for oversized dog kennels at the Soffer and Fine Adoption Center, a new Quarantine and Isolation Unit, and the restoration and beautification of the historic Oaklawn Pet Cemetery. Bone-afide Chairpeople

Pat and Milton Wallace

Who better than philanthropists Pat and Milton Wallace, lifetime supporters of animal rights, to be chairpeople of Pawpurrazzi? This amazing couple shows their love for animals on a daily basis. All of their beautiful dogs, Retired Champion Sheltie, Hanna, Japanese Spitz, Chloe; and toy Pomeranian, “Jake” it Up Baby, were adopted, as are their five cats, Vici, Katy-Two, Suki, Sister, and Friend. Although they know, they don’t tell the dogs, that the cats really rule the roost! Each of the Wallace pets walking the runway tonight has a story. Hanna, the Sheltie, has won championships in every category. She is one “lucky dog”—when her show competition career was over and her owners didn’t want her anymore, she was adopted by the Wallace family. Now she lives in the lap of luxury at Halcyon Park, the Wallace home, showing her privileged status by sleeping in their bed, on her back, with all four legs in the air – a definite sign of comfort and security. Chloe, a Japanese Spitz, was a puppy-mill dog used for breeding. By the tender age of two, she had already given birth to 23 puppies. At that time, she was no longer able to reproduce and her breeder was going to euthanize her. Thank goodness the Wallace family stepped in and made her part of the family. Now, Chloe also sleeps in bed with Pat and Milton and shows her appreciation for being rescued from her hard life by dancing on her hind legs and lovingly interacting with human friends. She is a natural “people person”. Just like her Mommy!

The newest member of the family, “Jake” It Up Baby, also known as Jake, was a product of a puppy mill that was, thankfully, put out of business. “Twisting and shaking” like all little pups, Pat and Milton knew just what to name their newest canine addition! Little Jake was less than three months old and only 2.6 pounds when he ended up at the Humane Society. Pat’s sister, Rebecca, knowing Pat’s love for Pomeranians, and hearing her speak often of wanting to adopt one, heard about this little bundle of joy who needed a home. Taking advantage of an upcoming birthday of Pat’s, Rebecca knew she had the perfect birthday gift to give! Jake has successfully found his place amongst his four-legged brothers and sisters, both cats and dogs! Both Pat and Milton are successful business people, each a visionary in their own right. Pat’s resume is extensive and impressive, and covers a wide range of business, cultural, civic, and charitable organizations from banking to real estate development. For 12 years she was the Chairman of Bankers Savings, a successful banking institution in Coral Gables. Currently Pat is Chairman of the Board of the Humane Society of Greater Miami, member of the Executive Committee, and has served as Chairman of Pawpurrazzi for the last four years. In addition, Pat is a Director of the Jackson Memorial Foundation, a former twoterm Chairman of the Foundation, and former founder and Chairman of the Golden Angels. Also, Pat has a love for art and culture, which is reflected in her commitment to Wolfsonian-FIU as a member of the Board of Directors. She is also a member of the Tiffany Circle of the Red Cross and has received the American Red Cross Spectrum Award, amongst many other philanthropic awards. Milton was Chairman of the Board of Renal CarePartners, Inc., a provider of kidney dialysis services, which was recently sold. Presently, he is Vice-Chairman of the Board of Preferred CarePartners, Inc., a Medicare Advantage Plan. He was a practicing attorney for more than 40 years, serving both as a City of Miami Judge and Assistant State Attorney General of the state of Florida. He has provided leadership to various community and cultural organizations, serving as Chairman for more than 20 years of the Miami-Dade Housing Finance Authority, and currently serves as Chairman of the Miami-Dade Affordable Housing Foundation and Classical South Florida 89.7 FM. In addition, he serves as a member of the Board of Directors of two public companies: Catalyst Pharmaceutical Partners, Inc. and Imperial Industries, Inc. As chairmen of Pawpurrazzi 2012, Pat and Milton have been involved in every aspect of its planning. We couldn’t have done it without them and, on behalf of the animals and us humans, we thank them for all their hard work and dedication. Their enthusiasm, creativity and unique style have made their mark on our event tonight—and we promise it will be one of the most fun parties of the year!

In Memory of George E. Batchelor Champion of Animals

The Batchelor Foundation The Batchelor Foundation’s support for the Humane Society of Greater Miami dates back more than 10 years with initial funds committed to repair and upgrade the original shelter on 95th Street. Over the years, the Foundation has also helped with many pressing needs including the construction of an entire wing of kennels at the Humane Society of Greater Miami’s home in North Miami Beach, the capital campaign to build a new state-of-the-art Intake and Isolation Unit and most recently, the beautification of the Humane Society’s historic Oaklawn Pet Cemetery. This is a Foundation that gives back to the community in many, many ways. It improves the quality of life of both people and animals who are less fortunate. Walking the runway tonight is Sandy Batchelor with an adoptable and loving dog in need of a “forever” family, and Nancy and Jon Batchelor with their lovely Wheaton terrier Bear. We are very grateful for their vision and magnanimous support. The Batchelor family has chosen to share their valuable time with us and we are extremely grateful. They are a class act - following in the footsteps of George Batchelor! The Batchelor Foundation, a Florida private foundation, was founded in 1990, by George E. Batchelor, a renowned aviation entrepreneur and caring philanthropist, whose Foundation has donated tens of millions of dollars to benefit children’s health and education, environmental causes, and the welfare of animals. Numerous South Florida non-profit organizations have been the recipients of the Foundation’s grants over the years, including the Jackson Memorial Foundation, Department of Pediatrics at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Zoological Society of Florida, WPBT Channel Two, Miami Museum of Science, Audubon of Florida, Humane Society of Greater Miami and Community Partnership for the Homeless.

Nora Bulnes Publisher Selecta Magazine Honorary Chairperson For more than 50 years, Nora Bulnes has not only been a businesswoman, entrepreneur and philanthropist, but also a prominent member of the community and society maven. Her commitment with South Florida led to the creation of Selecta Magazine 29 years ago, when she envisioned a publication that would serve as an influential vehicle reflecting the very best of Hispanics in South Florida and around the world. Her determination followed her vision and after years of successful publishing, Selecta Magazine has become the most prominent upscale Hispanic publication in the United States. Throughout the years, she has been recognized by a myriad of organizations for her work. The City of Miami awarded her with October 18 as Nora Bulnes’ Day and November 12 as Selecta Magazine’s Day. Also the City of Miami presented her with the first-ever “Millennium Lady of Goodwill Ambassador” proclamation. She received the Lifetime Achievement Award, presented by the Hispanic Designers, Inc. in Washington, D.C. and the Cartier’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998; she was also the first Hispanic recipient of the Crohn and Colitis “Women of Distinction” Award, The Weizman Institute of Science “Women of Vision” Award, the Leaders in Furthering Education (L.I.F.E.) “Ambassador Gold Medal” and has received the keys to Coral Gables, Bal Harbour Village, Miami and Miami-Dade County, among other accolades. As a philanthropist, Nora has helped numerous charities throughout the years including from its inception, the Community Alliance against AIDS, when the disease was still a taboo. Other organizations include The Jackson Memorial Foundation, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and The Vizcayans, amongst many others. In 2001, she decided to create her own non-profit organization, the Hope and Dreams Foundation, in order to continue making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Nora was born and raised in Manzanillo, Eastern Cuba. After graduating as a teacher, she lived in Havana. In 1960, she came to the United States with her two month-old daughter to face a new country, and a culture and language she didn’t understand. Through perseverance, hard work, and dedication, she has become a leading entrepreneur and a true pioneer in our South Florida community. She was married in Cuba to Evaristo Bulnes and had two children, Avelina and Michael. She is now the proud grandmother of five: Fernando, Andrea, Joshua, Michelle y Michael. She currently resides in Miami where she continues to work and support the community. We are so grateful and would like to thank Nora for all her extraordinary efforts, over the years, supporting the dogs and cats of the Humane Society of Greater Miami. She is a true humanitarian and we are so proud to call her a friend. Bravo to Nora and Selecta Magazine!

South Motors South Motors loves animals. One look at the newspaper will prove it, as Charles Dascal’s beloved Maltese, Luky, plays mascot in all of South Motors’ advertising. Charles Dascal, local humanitarian and businessman, began his automotive career in 1956 and, through the years, built South Motors into one of South Florida’s most recognized brands. South Motors Automotive Group has one simple principle: treat every customer like family. Throughout the organization, from top executives to sales personnel and service teams, individuals work in unison to ensure every customer gets the personal attention they deserve. Tonight, the Pawpurrazzi runway spotlights Gabriella, granddaughter of Charles and Fanny Dascal and daughter of Jackie and Jonathan Chariff. Gabriella walks the runway with Pasha, a Coton de Tulear. As Pasha proves, the Coton de Tulear is known to be a playful, affectionate and intelligent breed. They love people and are very curious in new situations. In addition to Pasha, South Motors’ mascot Luky makes the scene as well, joined by his gentle brood - Maravilloso, Fantastico, Leni and Kiki. Luky and his clan are all pure Malteses; they are known for their loving, energetic temperaments, beautiful luminous coats and eagerness to be the center of activity and attention. This is the fourth year the Dascal and Chariff families support Pawpurrazzi. Both families are widely respected in the community and renowned for their generosity, and our organization is extremely grateful to have their continued support. We admire and welcome their commitment and compassion toward animals without a home.

Bunny Bastian With four children and eight grandchildren, Bunny Bastian’s family keeps her very busy. And nothing pleases her more! Born in Washington, D.C., Bunny stayed in the D.C. area where she earned a B.A. and a law degree from George Washington University. It was there that she also met, and married, a fellow law student, the late James Bastian. Bunny’s career included employment at the Office of the Solicitor in the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. After moving to South Florida in 1984, she was employed as Vice President of Southern Air Transport, Inc. until 1998. She is currently President of SAT Group, Inc. Bunny has been involved in many Miami organizations. She is a member of the Carrollton Board of Trustees, the Board of Directors of the Jackson Memorial Foundation, the Red Cross Greater Miami and the Keys Chapter, and the Gables Estates Club. She is active in the Church of Epiphany, currently serving as a minister of the Eucharist. She is an active supporter of the Humane Society of Greater Miami, the Red Cross Tiffany Circle, YPO, United Way, Camillus House, Fairchild Tropical Gardens, the Lowe Art Museum and Beaux Arts. Bunny was the recipient of the Monsignor Bryan O. Walsh Award by Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami, the Blue Cross Blue Shield Philanthropy Award of the Red Cross Sara Hopkins Woodruff Spectrum Awards for Women and the Una Award by the American Red Cross. She was also recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals as an Outstanding Philanthropist. Bunny has chaired many fundraisers including the gala for the Archdiocese of Miami. We are honored that Bunny is Co-Chairman of Pawpurrazzi 2012 and manages to find time to support the animals with her busy schedule. Tonight she walks the runway with five of her eight grandchildren. They are walking a combination of their own beautiful Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and two adoptable shelter dogs. Bunny’s grace, elegance and generosity is treasured by all humans and animals at the Humane Society of Greater Miami.

Dr. Fredric S. Brandt Dr. Fredric Brandt, the celebrity dermatologist, has been in practice for more than 20 years. He is an internationally known lecturer, physician and innovative doctor who has revolutionized the field of cosmetic dermatology. He is, indeed, a genius in his field. Dr. Brandt’s love of skincare started at SloanKettering where he specialized in the research and treatment of leukemia. There he dedicated his studies to using natural elements to fight against the growth of cancer. Now, he is often called upon to provide his expertise in research, treatment, and diagnosis in all areas of dermatology. The dr. brandt skincare line is much more than just a "doctor brand"; it represents the fusion of science with active, anti-aging botanicals and is prominently featured in stores nationwide. With practices in both Miami and New York City, Dr. Brandt sees more than 40 patients a day. In addition to his role as a physician, Dr. Brandt also defines himself as an artist, as he helps patients sculpt the younger look they seek. Dr. Brandt is a Board Certified Member of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Dermatology. He is a member of numerous prestigious organizations such as the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery, International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons, American Medical Association, and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. However it’s not all business for Dr. Brandt. He has quite a soft heart for all animals. His three dogs are a source of joy in his life and they bask in his affection. Benji, a beautiful Golden Retriever, is a loyal, sweet, and loving dog. Surya, a mixed breed rescued dog, really appreciates her good fortune and returns the love ten-fold. Tyler, a cream colored Shih Tzu, abandoned on Fred’s doorstep, is full of both love and mischief and is adored by all. Now, nationally and internationally, Dr. Brandt’s expertise, products, and professional skills are enriching lives. His presence is missed here tonight, but we are so proud of his latest achievements - congratulations Dr. Brandt! We are honored to call you our friend and we thank you for your generosity. We are forever grateful!

The Victor and Emily D. Damiano Charitable Trust The Victor and Emily D. Damiano Charitable Trust provides many opportunities for Emily Damiano and daughter, Yvonne Eldredge, to support a variety of worthwhile causes. The abandoned and homeless cats and dogs, sheltered at the Humane Society of Greater Miami, are some of the proud beneficiaries. The Trust was established in 2004 and focuses on providing a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. Many of the projects they support have had an impact on the lives of our community’s underprivileged constituents: the elderly, the disabled, the infirmed, at-risk children, and animals. Some of the charities supported by The Victor and Emily D. Damiano Charitable Trust are: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Unicorn Children’s Foundation, Kristi House, Give Kids The World, the Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis, and Charlee Homes for Children. Emily Carbonell, originally from Key West, married Victor Damiano, and, together enjoyed many years of happiness. Victor was an Italian immigrant who came to the United States in search of a better life. Through hard work and dedication, he accomplished that, and so much more. Victor was a successful businessman who specialized in the food service industry, providing gourmet meals to the first class passengers of BOAC’s transatlantic flights from Latin American to London. These routes became renowned for serving the very best food to their passengers. Emily is a true animal lover. Dogs, cats, birds, rabbits and, even a monkey, have been part of her life. Today, she spends most of her time with Suzette, her loyal and playful Yorkshire Terrier companion. Yvonne Damiano-Eldredge is Emily and Victor’s only child. She is a native Miamian and an accomplished world-traveler. Yvonne, a loving mother to sons Bradley and Ronald, is married to Chas Eldredge, with whom she frequently plays both golf and croquet at LaGorce Country Club. A fun and entertaining couple, Yvonne and Chas spend much of their time with their friends, dining and dancing at both LaGorce and The Surf Club, or at various parties. The entire family shares a passion for skiing and tennis. This beautiful and dynamic mother and daughter team grace our runway this evening with Emily’s canine companion, Suzette, and Yvonne’s canine companion, Lady Bitsy. We thank the Damiano and Eldredge families for their generous contribution and their deep compassion for animals. We are forever grateful!

Sherrill and Mary Ann Hudson Sherrill and Mary Ann Hudson have three grown children, seven grandchildren, a 17 year old rescued Bischon Poodle mix, Gilbert, and a nine year old Poodle mix, Chica, adopted from the Humane Society of Greater Miami. Sharing all couches and floor space are also numerous rescued cats. Sherrill is currently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TECO Energy, Inc. and on the Board of Governors of Citizens Property Insurance Corp. Besides an extensive list of charities he helps in Tampa where he works, Sherrill is also known for his community service here in Miami including past chair of Florida International University Foundation; past executive committee member, Miami Business Forum; past president and board member, Orange Bowl Committee; past president, Zoological Society of Florida; past chair and board of governors, Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce; past chair, Dade Community Foundation, Jackson Memorial Foundation and American Cancer Society to name a few. His heroes in the business world are Bill Gates and Warren Buffet, not only because they are incredibly successful in business but, more importantly, both have decided to give most of their immense fortunes to charities. Mary Ann is very involved with her church and has taken many missionary trips to Central America providing medical help, home improvements, and food to underprivileged rural families. While there, she also takes photos of families, as she has found that pictures are a rare commodity in that part of the world. While many of the community residents, with their children, stand in line waiting for medication, Mary Ann entertains the kids with puppet shows, games, and by distributing toys. She also teaches the children the importance of being humane to animals, insisting that compassion and care are necessary for even the four-legged creatures of the world. We thank the whole Hudson family for their generosity, their compassion, and their devotion to all animals.

Irene Korge Community service has always been the principal focus of Ireneâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s life. She has three beautiful children: Andrew, Kristina, Angela, and a precious nine year old Yorkie, Tula. Irene is involved in many charities; including the United Way, Honey Shine Kids, The American Cancer Society, Special Olympics, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and The Zoological Society of Florida. Tonight she is proud to be supporting the Humane Society of Greater Miami for the third year. Irene gives her full commitment to doing whatever she can to make all of these charities a great success. Irene also supports the Democratic Party and has held numerous fundraising and social events at her Pinecrest home, Casa de Korge. These fundraising efforts have earned Irene the honor of being invited to several State dinners at the White House. As a devoted parent, Irene has always been focused on her childrenâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s academic achievements. Not only is education a focus in her private life, but it is also an important part of her charitable life, as well. Thousands of children in Miami-Dade County have had an enhanced educational experience due to the efforts of the Korge family. Irene is thankful she has the health and resources to continue her community service efforts. The Humane Society of Greater Miami is grateful that she includes the animals in her generosity and proudly walks the runway this evening with Tula.

Linda and Patrick McEnany Patrick J. McEnany is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Catalyst Pharmaceutical Partners, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company in Coral Gables, that acquires, develops, and commercializes prescription drugs for the treatment of drug addiction, epilepsy, and other central nervous systems disorders. Patrick currently serves on The Board of Directors for ThermoGenesis Corp., and the Jackson Memorial Foundation, and, most recently, joined the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Greater Miami. When not at work, Patrick plays golf, testing his expertise on courses all over the world. Both Pat and Linda support many charities in the community through their financial contributions, volunteering time on committees, as well as attending and supporting many of the charities’ events. Linda and Pat have a special place in their hearts, and are deeply committed, to the thousands of homeless cats in our community. Even though Linda has several cats of her own, Linda still finds the time to be extremely active with Cat Network, Inc., rescuing countless felines, fostering and nursing them to good health. She has an extensive network of friends to whom she circulates photos of these latest orphaned felines, trying to find wonderful “forever” homes for them. Linda, “cat patroness extraordinaire”, always there when needed, has been a true resource to all felines in need. Her passion is not limited to cats, as her beloved canine companion, Caesar, holds a big place in her heart – even for a small eight pound dog! Caesar, was adopted from the Humane Society of Greater Miami two years ago. He goes everywhere with Linda and Pat, turning heads at every corner. In addition, no occasion goes by without a photo, of little Caesar the great! He has become such an intrinsic part of the family that an extra chair is automatically placed for Caesar at every dinner and outing around town. Tonight is no exception, as the trio walks our runway. We salute this beautiful couple who are so devoted to the welfare of animals and thank them for their commitment, compassion, and generosity. P.S. Caesar would like to extend a special thanks to his Godparents, Pat and Milt Wallace for finding his new family.

Penny and Roe Stamps Current parents of a black Labrador Retriever named Ella, and 14 stray and pedigree cats, Penny and Roe Stamps have shared a lifelong love of two and four legged critters ranging from “Chip” the chipmunk to “Ozzie Lane,” a rescued osprey. Their pets reside at both of their Ocean Reef and Coconut Grove residences, and are lovingly cared for by all members of their household. Of all of the cats in the Stamps retinue, the most outstanding was a magnificent grey tabby named Grayvik. An abandoned cat, left to fend for his own, Grayvik was rescued from a highway approaching Ocean Reef. Grayvik adopted Penny at the ORCAT shelter at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo in May of 1996. About a year later, he boldly awoke Penny and Roe in the wee hours of an August morning to alert them to a fire which had begun to rage in the couple’s Key Largo home. The cat’s aptitude and cunning earned him the highest marks with the Stamps because his timeliness and urgency enabled Roe to rescue their daughter, Annie, from her smoke engulfed room before tragedy would strike. To honor him, Penny became involved with the ORCAT Trap, Neuter and Release program at Ocean Reef, and the Stamps would eventually name the new animal center located there after him, “The Grayvik Animal Care Center.” Grayvik’s spirit lives on through the many shelter animals crying for love and a permanent home and a chance to give something back to their owners. In tonight’s walk, the Stamps will be including their grand-dog, Baxter, a lively Boston terrier, as well as their marvelous retriever, Ella. Penny and Roe have devoted the last 20 years to philanthropic causes. The Stamps Family Charitable Foundation is committed to education through its Stamps Scholars Program offering merit scholarships in over 12 universities and colleges nation wide. On a local level, the Stamps are active and ardent supporters of the University of Miami, The Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, The Red Cross, Barry University, Community Partnership for the Homeless and many other social services and charities throughout the region. Penny has recently joined the Board of Directors for the Humane Society of Greater Miami.

Maggie and her husband, Jorge, have two children, Gabriella Sofia and Daniel. They are members of the United Way’s Alexis de Tocqueville Society. Maggie walks the runway this evening with her daughter, Gabriella Sofia, and Samantha Mormile, the daughter of Brian Mormile, Regional Market Executive for U.S. Trust. Both girls are walking with adoptable dogs from the shelter. We thank U.S. Trust for including the animals in their philanthropic portfolio and for generously underwriting the beautiful Pawpurrazzi invitation. We are extremely grateful for their support.

Norma Jean Abraham Norma Jean is extremely active in Miami’s philanthropic community. She is serving her second year as President of UM’s Cancer Link and recently co-chaired, for the third year, Zoo Miami’s “Feast with the Beasts”. Charitable work and philanthropy have long been an Abraham family affair. Her late father, Anthony, was a founding member of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and set a shining example for Norma Jean. Like her father, she believes that “everyone has a purpose in life” and she adds that, “I’m blessed to have found mine.” Over the past 30 years, Norma Jean has been active in a variety of non-profit organizations; including Cancer Link, Children’s Home Society, Miami City Ballet, Food for Life, Honey Shine Mentoring Program, The Overtown Youth Center, Mother’s Voices, Children’s Village Boystown, Learning Leadership Program at St. John Bosco, Special Olympics, City Year, and the Rene Moawad Foundation which promotes peace and stability in her native Lebanon. Norma Jean has received many honors and awards for her philanthropic work including the Miami Light Project, Alonzo Mourning Charities at Zo’s Summer Groove, “Neighborhood Excellence Initiative Award” from Bank of America, and most recently, the Barry University Celebration of the Human Spirit Laudare Medal for extraordinary service to the community. Norma Jean is walking the runway this evening with an adoptable dog from our shelter. Her smart sweet Schnauzer pup “Snuggles” is at home waiting for Norma Jean’s return, “snuggling” on the couch. We thank Norma Jean for her dedication to all animals and we are honored that she is participating in her second Pawpurrazzi!

Marisa Cisneros-Rizzon and Marcos Rizzon Marisa and Marcos have four lovely children, Andreina, 26, Daniel, 23, Nicholas, eight, and Thomas, five. Their canine family consists of two King Charles Cavalier Spaniels, Gwenivere, six years old, and Dante, two and a half years old. While Dante has established his place in the hierarchy of the family, Gwenivere still reminds him she is the “big sister”. Marisa and Marcos contribute generously to many charities including the Jackson Memorial Foundation, University of Miami, the Cisneros-Fontanals Art Foundation and the Wolfsonian-FIU. Marisa has chaired the Jackson Foundation’s Golden Angel Gala several times, always working tirelessly to ensure success. In addition, Marisa is an accomplished linguist who speaks five languages, loves art, antiques, and sports. She rides horses, plays tennis, and loves to ski. For the fourth year, Marisa is supporting Pawpurrazzi and is an integral part of the planning, development, and execution. She has done an impressive job securing silent auction items for tonight’s event. With her help, the auction has become unique and exciting and is not to be beat! In addition, Marisa continues to be an invaluable member of the Board of Directors. Tonight, walking the runway, are Marisa’s children, Andreina and Daniel, with their King Charles Caveliers, Gwenivere and Dante, and canine friend, adorable French Bulldog, Jean-Pierre le Petite. We are forever grateful for the support and generosity of the entire family. They are all a source of inspiration to everyone who knows them. Bravo!

Lyman (Skip) and Joyce Dickerson Skip and Joyce Dickerson enjoy spending time with their two children, grandchild and canine grandchild, Max. An English Bulldog and world traveler, Max belongs to their daughter, Lily, and although he vacations in Miami, he travels between his home on Park Avenue and his home in South Hampton. Max, also known as, Handsome, is good friends with all the doormen. He has been featured in several magazines, a yoga commercial, and a decorating book. Max’s mother, Lily, an accomplished equestrian, also enjoys spending time with her horse, Mosaik, while she is in South Hampton, and while in New York, her devotion for animals is expressed through her time spent on the Junior Board of the New York Animal Center. Skip is Chairman of Tech 3 Solutions Inc., a company that provides equipment producing electricity and heat from “green” methane gas. Joyce is a member of the American Red Cross Tiffany Circle, a board member of Palmer Trinity School, and former Chairman of the school’s Capital Campaign. In 1998, she was honored as one of the ten best dressed for the American Cancer Society. Both Skip and Joyce belong, and frequently travel with the prestigious Chief Executive Organization (formerly Young Presidents). Amongst his many hobbies, Skip enjoys golfing and fly fishing. Joyce’s favorite things are gardening, arranging flowers, cooking, and golf. They divide their time between their homes in Florida, New York and Colorado. We want to thank the Dickersons for supporting the Humane Society of Greater Miami and adding “star” power by having their daughter walk her celebrity “granddog” down the runway. We welcome them and applaud all that they do.

Swanee and Paul DiMare As great philanthropists in our community, both Swanee and Paul exemplify the true meaning of giving; they feel passionately about giving back to the community. Paul DiMare is President of seven family corporations and the founder and administrator of the Paul J. DiMare Foundation. Paul’s civic involvement includes serving as a board member of the University of Miami, Dade County Farm Bureau, Farm Share Advisory Board, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Scituate, Massachusetts, Miami Science Museum, Community Partnership for the Homeless, Baptist Hospital South Florida Foundation, and the recipient of the prestigious Red Cross Humanitarian Award. He is one of the most successful tomato growers in the country. Swanee Serves on the Board of Trustees of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens, The Vizcaya Museum and Garden, The Miami Science Museum, The Miami City Ballet, Women of Tomorrow Mentor and Scholarship Program, American Red Cross Ball Committee Chairman 2001 and 2006. Recipient American Red Cross Spectrum Awards for Women 2005, Honorary Chairman American Red Cross Spectrum Awards for Women 2006 through 2012. Founder American Red Cross Tiffany Circle. American Cancer Society Inner Circle of 12 Inductee 2005, Honorary Chairman 2012. Both Swanee and Paul are major supporters of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis “The Buoniconti Fund”. Recipients of the “Ann Bishop Spirit of Excellence Award”. Paul serves on the Board of Trustees of the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, The Buoniconti Fund. Tonight, walking the runway, are Swanee and Paul, with “Sugar”, a three year old Maltese they gave as a gift to their son, Gino, and daughter in-law, Denise. Gino coaches the Hurricanes, the UM Baseball team, and is a father to miniature Poodle, “Cane” - hence, the name “Sugar”! With their constant generosity and hearts of gold, we thank Swanee and Paul for their support of the animals and for everything they do for the community.

Do Unto Others Arriving from Cuba penniless, but having received so much from their new Miami community, Justino “Tino” and Alicia Celorio founded Do Unto Others in 1994, as a way of giving back. For several years, Alicia had been a donor of the ASPCA and the National Wildlife Federation, and, with the renewed commitment of Do Unto Others, she became active in the Zoological Society of Florida and the Humane Society of Greater Miami. She recently stated that she “fell in love with the Soffer and Fine Adoption Center on her first visit”. Tonight, Alicia has asked her niece, Tiffany Masdeu, to walk the runway with her dog, Daisy, along with friend Nicole Gerdts and canine friend, Cody. Although twenty-four year old Tiffany has special needs, she has never let that stop her. She participates in fashion shows, loves animals, and enjoys working with children. Daisy, her dog, is an unusual canine who has strong feline characteristics; cleaning herself, at times purring, taking naps on top of the refrigerator, and even coughing up hairballs. Together, they personify the human-animal bond. Since rescuing Cody from an animal shelter when he was seven weeks old, Nicole and Cody have been inseparable. Cody is cheerful and intelligent and, not only, has brightened Nicole’s life but has made an impact on all who meet him. We thank Alicia for her generosity and appreciate her commitment to improving the lives of those in need.

Jeanette Fine The Humane Society of Greater Miami’s Soffer and Fine Adoption Center was named in honor of the Fine Family. Jeanette was truly instrumental in leading the fundraising efforts to build the organization’s state-of the-art adoption facility. Jeanette has always had a soft spot in her heart for the homeless and abandoned dogs and cats in our community. She worked diligently to achieve her dream of opening a warm and inviting “temporary home” for the animals while they wait for their permanent family. Jeanette’s dream was certainly achieved, and more! Jeanette devotes most of her time serving as a member of the Board of Directors at the Humane Society of Greater Miami. Her “pet” project is the Second Chance Fund which provides resources for medical care; such as complex surgeries, specialized lab work and analysis, and much needed medication for shelter pets in need. She also founded the auxiliary committee, PALs, Pets are Love, which has been instrumental in raising money, volunteering time for events, and helping our Humane Society achieve its mission. Accompanying Jeanette on the runway are her cute and adorable poodles, Scooter and Scamper, and her daughter, Dr. Rhonda Fine. We are forever grateful for the never-ending commitment and loyalty from Jeanette. We feel privileged to call her a benefactor, but most especially the “finest” of friends!

The Gomez Family A love for animals runs in the Gomez Family. Flossie and Roland Gomez have been involved in rescuing dogs for over 40 years, their daughter, Lisa DePriest, is the Humane Society of Greater Miami’s Humane Educator, and son, Richard, a renowned attorney, serves on the Executive Committee of the Humane Society, and both he and his father serve on its Board. The family is an inspiration to all people who care about animals. Lisa and her dog, Sparky, travel to schools and organizations, teaching children and adults of our community how to be responsible pet owners. They have only worked with the Humane Society for two years, and have already educated over 18,000 children and adults. Sparky regularly receives fan mail and recently got his own Facebook page. Roland, an accomplished attorney for almost 50 years, has been recognized by The Florida Bar as one of five attorneys in the state of Florida to receive the Henry Latimer Center for Professionalism Award for Acts of Outstanding Professionalism. Roland continues to practice law with his son, Richard. Roland is also passionate about sports. He was inducted into the Miami High Football Hall of Fame. Both he and Flossie have been heavily involved with Miami Lakes Optimist Youth Programs, and, in recognition for their efforts, the city designated July 16, 2003 as Roland Gomez Day. In addition, the Miami Lakes Optimist Club named a scholarship after him. Tonight on the runway, Flossie walks with ‘Paisley Pockets’, their rescued Bassett Hound, and Lisa walks with Sparky. Flossie is leaving home a disappointed ‘Bunny’ the Beagle and ‘PeeWee’ the Bagel, who was adopted from the Humane Society three years ago. We thank the entire Gomez family for their generosity and dedication to animals.

Barbara Guilford An avid animal lover, Barbara Guilford is committed to the mission of the organization and has been a longtime supporter of the Humane Society of Greater Miami. We are thrilled to have Barbara as a new member of the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Greater Miami. We know her contributions will be invaluable. The darling of her household is Rudolph Valentino II, a five and a half year old Piebald Dachshund, known as the “the big dog” of the Guilford family. He arrived at eight weeks old and the whole family trained to follow his commands within three months. He responds to both English and Spanish, this a truly educated bi-lingual pooch. We are very impressed. (But does he understand Spanglish?) Barbara enjoys nothing more than watching her 10 grandchildren playing with this amazing and wonderful bundle of joy. But don’t expect to find them all playing on the bare floor, “Rudy 2” can’t bear to subject his gorgeous multihued fur to the bare floor; he opts for a soft rug instead. Barbara believes in giving back to the community. She has been involved with the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens for many years and is a member of the Vizcayan Board and Executive Committee. Barbara is a past president of the Villagers, Dade County’s oldest historic preservation organization. She is now retired after a thriving career in real estate for twenty nine years. She was known in the field as “the one who can make it happen”! “We truly appreciate Barbara’s generosity and support of our four-legged friends.”

Robert and Christina Hudson Lifelong animal lovers, Rob and Christina have been involved with the Humane Society of Greater Miami for more than a decade. They both feel passionately about the welfare of our furry, four-legged friends. Rob is a named partner at the law firm of Hudson & Calleja, LLC, in Coral Gables. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Greater Miami, which he chaired from 2008-2011, and has been a board member since 1999. He was elected as a member of the Orange Bowl Committee in 2001, and is an active nember. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Zoological Society of Florida from 1999, to the present, and is the current Board Chairman. He was named one of Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida’s 2011 Twelve Good Men of South Florida for his commitment to South Florida charitable causes. Christina is Vice President at BNY Mellon Wealth Management in Miami. She serves on the Board of Directors of South Florida Urban Ministries and is an active member of Beaux Arts and sustainer of the Junior League of Miami. Walking the runway this evening are Rob and Christina with their beautiful St. Bernard, Dodge. Besides spending his time romping through his yard and visiting his friends at the dog park, Dodge is a proud big brother to human, six month old twins, Dylan and Corinne. We send our deepest thanks and gratitude to this wonderful family for all they do for the animals, large and small!

Lola and Donald Jacobson Lola and Donald Jacobson are recognized by many charities for their generosity, dedication, and support. “There isn’t one member of our beloved family that is not actively involved in giving back,” says Lola. “It’s a family tradition of community leadership.” Lola and Donald speak with pride about their two children and four grandchildren, all grown now and fulfilling their own professional dreams. But they still remember when two grandchildren, born prematurely, were nursed back to health at Jackson’s neonatal unit. This experience began their long-standing support of the Jackson Memorial Medical Center and Project Newborn, helping to raise more than $1.2 million to date. The charity has established the “Lola Award” in honor of her extraordinary work, and dedicated the Lola and Donald Jacobson Family Hall of Honor in 2007. In addition to supporting the Humane Society of Greater Miami, Lola and Donald are involved with many other charitable organizations. They are Founders of Mount Sinai; Founders of Baptist Hospital; Founders of Children’s Resources and Platinum Angels for the Jackson Memorial Foundation; Founders of Douglas Gardens and members of the University of Miami’s prestigious George E. Merrick Society. Lola has received many honors and awards; including the Humanitarian of the Year, Helping Hands Award from the University of Miami, awards from Diabetes Research Institute, and has been honored by the American Red Cross with its Spectrum Award for Women. Lola and her Cavalier King Charles, Valentino, are on the runway this evening along with her granddaughter, Marisa, and her canine son, Max. We thank them for their generous contribution to the animals and to Pawpurrazzi. Their support over the years is truly appreciated and we are honored that Lola is now a member of our Board of Directors!

DJ and Steve Kerr DJ and Steve Kerr are valued supporters of the Humane Society of Greater Miami. They have been teaching their eight year old son, Zachary, what it means to give back. In between swimming, soccer, golf, tennis, basketball and softball, Zachary finds time to participate with DJ in several charitable organizations for children and for animals. For the past two years, he has been working diligently helping others who are less fortunate than him. Steve Kerr is a senior advisor to Goldman Sachs, and Executive Director of the Jack Welch Management Institute. Steve came to Goldman Sachs from General Electric where, for seven years, he was Vice President of Corporate Leadership Development and Chief Learning Officer. Steve serves on the Board of Directors of Harvard Business Publishing, The Motley Fool, and the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation. DJ is involved with many charitable organizations: the Humane Society of Greater Miami, Miami Children’s Hospital, Guardian Angels, Alonzo Mourning Fund, Miami Children’s Museum, and the Fisher Island Day School Foundation. Tonight DJ and Zachary are joined on the runway with Princess, a four year old Yorkshire Terrier, Beauty, a five year old Teacup Maltese, and their newest canine, Angelina, a one year old Chihuahua. Also on the runway is supporter, friend, and couture fashion designer, Rene Ruiz, with his beloved Springer Spaniel, Dexter. The Kerr family is an inspiration to all and an invaluable resource of love and support. We thank them for their generosity and compassion.

Helene and Marc Kovens As a couple, Helene and Marc are philanthropists affiliated with many of Miami's most prestigious organizations. However, Helene takes pride in having four children. Lisa and Marc, her human children, as well as Hugs and Kisses, her two canine children, are all well-known in our community. Tonight, Helene walks the runway with her two furry favorite canines, Hugs and Kisses. These dogs do not go anywhere without their stroller; Helene never lets their paws touch the ground. This may seem strange to some, but actually this keeps them from getting dirty or getting fleas. As you would expect, they sleep in bed with Marc and Helene. According to Helene, one thing that is extraordinary about Kisses is her human-like attention span. She loves to watch television. She faithfully watches all sports with her daddy and movies with her mommy. Her favorite movie is Hotel for Dogs. She watches from beginning to end, and actually barks at the television when the villains appear. Hugs, on the other hand, is happy to sleep through everything. We honor and thank Helene and Marc Kovens for all that they have done for needy animals. We also extend a heartfelt congratulations to Helene for being honored at the upcoming Humane Society’s Founding Fosters event, No Black Tie – Tails Only. Big "hugs and Kisses" from the Humane Society of Greater Miami to the entire Kovens family.

Sheila and Frank Kuhl In 1986, midwesterners Sheila and Frank Kuhl, acquired a neighborhood framing business in Coconut Grove, Florida, after Frank retired from the Air Force. This was the beginning of a venture that would establish them as influential figures for home décor in Miami. A talented watercolorist, Sheila combined her years of experience in travel and art with her education in fashion design to achieve her dream of entrepreneurship. Sheila and Frank went quickly to work towards building their dream of independence by producing high quality picture framing and promoting local artists. Little did they know how far their traditional values, excellent work ethics, and knowing customers by their first name would take them. Today, the Kuhls open the doors 6 days a week to a 15,000 sq.ft. showroom, gallery, interior design workroom, and framing shop. With their talented team, they offer great advice and reliable service with superior customer care. What might be confused as a rug in their amazing showroom, is Bailey, their 6 year old Golden Retreiver, who proudly holds the title of Chief Mascot Officer. Every day Bailey goes to work with Sheila and Frank and greets family, friends, customers, and everyone human or canine, with a wagging tail. Coconut Grove Gallery & Interiors would not be the same without Bailey’s welcoming smile and presence. We salute Sheila, Frank, and Bailey for their premier walk down the Pawpurrazzi runway. Jackie and Jorge Munilla The Munilla Family consists of six brothers, their wives, children, and grandchildren. Together, the six brothers own and manage MCM Corp., a construction company which specializes in commercial property, bridges and roadwork. The company was founded in Cuba by their father, Fernando R. Munilla, who brought up his children with the same ethics in which he ran his own company: quality, integrity and reliability. Jacquelyn, married to Jorge Munilla, the Company's President, is the family's animal advocate. Throughout their 23 years of marriage, this couple has never been without a minimum of two felines, and an array of other pets. Currently, they have 4 indoor cats: Misty, Simba, Funnie May, and their new addition, 4 month old "Tiger the terrible" whose favorite pastime is to chase the other cats and drive them nuts! They also care for 5 outdoor rescued cats: Fatcat, Frady Black, Tommy, Kitty, and Baby. Jorge and Jackie's two children, James Tyler, a sophomore at Villanova University, and Julian Alexis, a senior honor student at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, share the same love for all animals. The Munilla family exemplifies the spirit of giving. They not only contribute to the Humane Society of Greater Miami, but to other charities such as: the United Way, the Jackson Memorial Foundation, Rebuilding Together, American Cancer Society, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and Miami Bridge, just to name a few. Tonight, Jackie's sister, Jeanette Garrido, will be walking her new and beloved 3 month old labradoodle, Buddy, a surprise Christmas gift to her children. We feel very fortunate that the Munilla family has embraced our cause and has demonstrated such dedication and compassion for all animals. It is evident that their construction skills are not limited to roads and highways, but are an integral part of the structure that is philanthropy in Dade County.

Ann and Frank Rubino Ann is a Texas transplant who has made Miami her home since marrying well-known and highly successful attorney, Frank Rubino. She has a love for all things beautiful, but primarily focuses on improving spaces and interior design. In addition to her passion for design, her kindness and caring leads her to be a compassionate volunteer for charitable causes. She is on the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Greater Miami, a Golden Angel with Jackson Memorial Foundation, a Member of the Banyan Society Neonatal Care Center, and a former member of the Board of Directors of The Viscayans. As a member of the Steering Committee and a Co-Chairman of Pawpurrazzi, Ann did an amazing job in securing many wonderful items for our silent auction. Frank has tried hundreds of cases involving serious federal and international criminal offenses. He has successfully handled cases throughout the United States and the world. He is a renowned expert in the field of British antique cars and has one of the finest collections in the world. Ann’s love for animals was manifested when she rescued King, the gorilla at Monkey Jungle, from a 20-foot cage. Ann founded "Friends of King", a non-profit organization dedicated to improving King’s life. Ann also fosters sick and injured monkeys, nursing them back to health. Frank and Ann have their own tiny primate, "Frankie the Monkey," who they raised from the age of six weeks. Frankie now has two little canine sisters, a toy Yorkie, Missy, and their most recent adopted dog from the Humane Society, Sophie. Joining us on the runway this evening are Ann, Frank, and Missy. We are grateful to be “friends” of Ann and Frank and we thank them for their commitment to all animals. Their help and contributions to our event and to the animals are greatly appreciated.

Ryder Charitable Foundation Ryder System, Inc. and Ryder Charitable Foundation are both long time supporters of the Humane Society of Greater Miami. Tonight on the runway is Debbie Lanshky, a Senior Director in IT at Ryder System, with an adoptable dog from our shelter. According to Debbie, “A dog is the only animal who will love you more than they love themselves!” We are so grateful for the continuous support, dedication, and commitment to the animals from Ryder Charitable Foundation. We feel very fortunate they embrace our cause.

Sandy Zankl Sandy Zankl is a long time friend of the Humane Society of Greater Miami. A native Miamian, she grew up with her three sisters in a home near the Parrot Jungle in South Miami. A day never went by when they didn’t see parrots, peacocks, foxes or even a Florida panther crossing their yard. After graduating from the University of South Florida with a degree in business, she returned home to work in the family business, Miami Rivet Company, founded by her father. In 1986, the business was sold and a new family business was formed, Bezan Properties. Sandy has served on the board of The Womans Cancer Association and The Cat Network, Inc. and volunteers her time at Camillus House. Among the various other charities to which Sandy donates her time and resources, her favorites are the Humane Society of Greater Miami, The Cat Network, Inc., and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. Sandy’s devotion to animals began fifteen years ago when she and one of her sisters found four black kittens under a bush. Many a rescued cat, and occasionally a rescued dog, have passed through her home on their way to a new and forever family. Those that could not be placed have stayed and lived happily ever after with her. We are forever grateful that Sandy is so generous and compassionate to the homeless and abandoned animals of our community. Tonight, Sandy walks the runway with her childhood family friends’ son, Spencer, and daughter, Jane, and their Labradoodle, Barney.

Joe Zubizarreta Joe Zubizarreta, fondly known by his friends as Joe Zubi, co-manages Zubi Advertising, one of the largest Hispanic advertising agencies in the country. Zubi Advertising has a staff of over 130 people, billings of over $175 million, and an enviable roster of clients. When not hard at work, Joe can be found hovering over a reef off the coast of Florida; playing a round of golf; visiting his daughter, Charly, in New York; or spending time with his son, Michael, who lives in Miami. Founded by his mother, Tere Zubizarreta, Zubi Adveristing is a full service, Miamibased advertising agency with offices in Dallas, Detroit, and Los Angeles. As the face of the agency, Joe handles the extensive service demands of his many customers, focuses on their return on investment, and manages the agency’s corporate giving, which includes contributions to the United Way of Miami-Dade through the Alexis de Tocqueville Society. Joe Zubi is known in the industry as being progressive, innovative and a leader of Hispanic marketing. His agency is highly regarded for offering interactive solutions through their extensive digital analytics team. Tonight, Joe is walking with his son, Michael, and his adopted dog, Pepper, a black lab and whippet mix. Pepper was a gift to Joe by his son and daughter, after his 13 year old yellow lab passed away. F.W. Mort Guilford

A s we celebrate tonight at Pawpurrazzi, we also celebrate the life of F.W. Mort Guilford, a dear friend and supporter of the Humane Society of Greater Miami. Although we are deeply saddened by his passing, his memory is with us this evening. Along with his wife Barbara, he has walked the red carpet at Pawpurrazzi with his dog, Rudolph Valentino II. He had a deep love for animals and was committed to the mission of the Humane Society of Greater Miami.

Mort gave back to the community in many wonderful and meaningful ways. Mort, who was a senior partner at the law firm of Guilford & Associates PA, served on the Board of the Directors of the Jackson Memorial Hospital Foundation; he was Chairman of the Alma Jennings Foundation; Chairman of the Guilford Group, and was a Board Member of the Episcopal Charities of South Florida. Mort was honored in 2009 as the Henry Stanford Alumnus of the Year for his continued exemplary service to the University of Miami. The Batchelor Foundation honors Mort with a very generous donation to the animals in his memory. The Humane Society was extremely fortunate to have the support of Mort and applaud him for his dedication to humanity and to animals. He will be missed. Our deepest sympathies go to Barbara, who remains committed to the Humane Society as a board member.

Laurie spent many evenings on the phone with me until two o’clock in the morning, working on all the details that make Pawpurrazzi the one-of-a-kind event that it is.
