MICRO-CLIMATE SPA Clouds find balance within stable equilibria and naturally sustain themselves, embodying and releasing solar energy. The ability to touch, feel, and walk through the clouds is a notion drawn from many of our fantasies. Gazing out of airplane windows, high above the earth, we often daydream of what it might be like to live in this ethereal world of fluffy vapor. This project focused on the discovery of ephemeral experiences within the build environment. Located on the rail park in Philadelphia, my design uses materiality, mechanical systems, and natural elements to facilitate the water cycle. This water cycle within the building allows for every experience throughout the spa to be unique and ephemeral. Programs used: AutoCAD, Rhino, Illustrator, Photoshop

GRAFT, ON THE HIGHWAY Graft on the highway is a community plaza, apartment, and commercial complex that utilizes all the negative characteristics a highway brings to the city. Noise and air pollution, physical division of neighborhoods, and traffic are all reimagined to enhance the sustainability of the complex. The community hub also focuses on bringing fresh produce via I-64 to the food desert neighborhoods as well as bridging two previously divided regions. Programs used: ArchGIS, Rhino, Enscape, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign

CHARLESTON PARKLETS 32°49'0"N

These designs were created during my Fall 2020 studio 32°48'0"N in Charleston, SC. The Master of Resilient Urban Design studio began the semester developing a program of rules, regulations, processes, construction methods, and design options for parklets in the City of Charleston. After extensive research across the Charleston’s Peninsula, I landed on three unique sites to explore potential parklet designs. 32°47'0"N Some of the designs are geared towards increasing pedestrian spaces, supporting local businesses, and creating new typologies for future parklet designs. Programs used: 32°46'0"N ArchGIS, SketchUp, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Avenza Mapping

Food drives and blessing boxes are integrated into the design to streamline donations for those in need. Saint John’s Lutheran Church and the Unitarian Church of Charleston can host food drives from the parklet.

DRONE

Tyndall Air Force Base has to combat mother nature’s humidity, solar heat gain, and harsh winds/heavy rainfall due to its coastal location. Area 8500, the subscale drone research campus, washes air crafts, cleans and packages parachutes, stores and provides maintenance to drones and tests engines for the entire base. This junction is the supporting site for testing, maintenance, cleaning and storage for Tyndall AFB. The junction directly operates as a centralized node for the air force base and the natural ecosystem around it. Creating a relationship between the ecosystem on the coast and the developed areas of the site while also providing opportunities for future growth was a primary focus for this project.

EMERICK ST BROTHERS I joined the Evolve Build team for the summer of 2017 and assisted them in the construction and coordinating of an addition and rennovation of two brother rowhomes in Philadelphia. My role in the project was project coordinator and contractor on site. I was involved in scheduling subcontractors, material deliveries, and design documents. This experience helped me learn how to build working relationships with the crew and designers in the office.

Skills Learned: Builder-designer relations, Welding steel, design build decision making, & adapting to unknown site conditions.

It was this trait, as a highly skilled communicator, that enabled us to harness his capabilities and the result was great and consistent productivity during his entire tenure with Evolve Build.
