STATEMENT DANIELA PAOLA REY
I live to design, To deconstruct pieces In my mind. To put them together To formalize idea. My mind is not linear, My Architecture cannot be. The rigor in design is not about culmination It is about process, about solving a narrative While finding truth in the graphic essence In the lines, in the personal thought, In the passion That lies behind it.
Note on terminology Narrative- The events of a design process observed to define solution Deconstruct- To analyze the parts of a narrative and solve as a whole.

The hierarchy of spaces is the fundamental base for an early architecture understanding. It is the relationship between spaces, that which provides an experience that pleases the human among the architecture when relating to the sensibilities of the scale.

RACINES MUSテ右 Museo Raテュces
I do not think of architecture as a definite image or ideal render, I obtain the meaning of the work through the understanding of a graphic process involving all the senses. This studio focused on the site sensibilities that developed an architecture of place. An architecture that only belongs where it is developed and understood through the process that involves what is existing in the context.

From the influence of Kandisnsky to define Cartesian spaces, to the study of music and influence of the first introduction to a client, demonstrated how our perspective of architecture changed and allowed us to understand that the client is the main drive of a project, and by evaluating their movements, their activities and social behavior, the architecture transforms into an architecture of the user. 9 10

An architecture does not only need to be a squared surface, but even when taking on different forms that have an artistic, or musical approach; An order, balance and dialogue with the human body must exist. In the end, a design is capable of encapsulating the human desire in a space they will inhabit.

“ IT IS NOT ABOUT ITS IMAGE AS MASS, NOR THE OBJECT ITSELF, IT IS PURELY ABOUT THE CONTEXT. IT IS ABOUT THE DIALOGUE ARCHITECTURE CREATES WITH ITS CONTEXT, AND IF THE SKY IS LIT THEN SKY IS THE NEW SURFACE.” Quote by author
“LA IMPORTANCIA DEL DISENO NO ES LA MASA, O EL OBJETO POR SU CUENTA, SINO TODO LO QUE LE RODEA. ES TODO SOBRE EL DIALOGO QUE LA ARQUITECTURA CREA CON EL CONTEXTO. SI EL CIELO ESTA ALUMBRANDO UN VACIO, ENTONCES EL CIELO ES LA NUEVA SUPERFICIE”.

The spirit of the place involved the sentiments of what I thought was pronounced in the site, the marks of antiquity that craeted edges for the exterior walls of my design would provide a strong support both conceptually to the essence of the toy factory.

The player understands where the goal is in a way which is lived rather than known. The mind does not inhabit the field, but the field is inhabited by the knowing body. An architect gradually learns and internalizes the meaning of landscape, context and functional requirements through the practiced skill, similarly the Kyudo practitioner and other users internalize the process to reach a target is purely mental.

The habitat for humanity collaboration was an experience that provided a design-build perspective. We were engaged in the design charrette but also in the construction of the Habitat for Humanity exhibition space.

Jacksonville is a temporary stop. People only pass by and do not stay. The Museum of Visual Arts would evoke a feeling of return with the exposure of the people, while exhibiting experience and providing a new face to transform Downtown.

A STAGE IN THE GRAPHIC PROCESS Una etapa en el proceso gráfico
The Thesis Investigation is about Rethinking the Parking Lot by framing a void through the context of the human interaction. The definition of one possible solution is to be found through the site specifics and dialogue of a new thought process for construction. Within San Juan, there is a sector called Condado, which lacks the Identity of the puertorican, with the exception of the temporal events. Condado is defined by the edges disrupting a long lasting experience that is obscured by the fleeting reaction, surplus of massive construction and an “image” of buildings that do not belong in Place. The Dialogue of process and design will rethink the typology on which design may develope, while framing the existing with a new conversation that seeks an identification of place through the reevaluation of people and different stage sets that are to recuperate a Lot. Thesis Abstract
The glass, the wall of interiority, the obsession with object in field; blurs the social psychology of the Puertorican and the natural way of interacting and relating to corners, edges and faces of streets. Architecture cannot limit itself to making masses of buildings, but it must re-interprete the process of functionality that allow for different phases of design to be understood. If not, We will only add another blurred layer of unclearity of place.

This investigation is not about what a design will be, but why and how we may utilize the produced work to convey emotions within spaces, where people want to articulate and create contact not only within them, but are in contact with the travelled space (environment).
