Educational inequity affects too many children across the nation—we cannot move ahead when we are leaving so many of our own behind. That’s why Teach for America (TFA) is tapping into the leadership, perseverance, and dedication to service inherent in military veterans by recruiting them to become teachers who can play a strong role in putting their students on new life trajectories. TFA is a non-profit educational organization that finds outstanding leaders to teach. As a TFA corps member, veterans and military spouses will join a collective force of bold, innovative handraisers working alongside students to co-create a future filled with possibility. Joining TFA starts with a commitment to teach for two years in an underserved classroom and continues for a lifetime of working and advocating for educational equity.
After two years of teaching as a TFA corps member, participants will be inducted into the alumni community. The TFA corps member network will include other military veterans who have transitioned to career educators, ed tech entrepreneurs, policymakers, socially conscious CEOs, and other professionals shaping a more equitable future from every sector. Whatever path a corps member’s career takes, TFA will accelerate his or her leadership and impact toward systemic change.
