DANTZAZ Platform towards a first position in the world of dance Dantzaz is a platform towards a first position in the world of dance, located in the Basque Country and with a european vocation. Open to dancers from all over Europe, Dantzaz offers: • Continuous training and basic everyday tutoring in the world of dance; notions of how to constantly recycle in the performing arts scene. • Work with the professional company “Dantzaz Konpainia”, run by the centre itself, including: • Work with prestigious international choreographers • A first professional experience as dancers: rehearsals, tours, etc. • Advice and motivation. The aim is for our dancers to find work in other professional companies throughout Europe or other parts of the world. To help them, we tell them about and encourage them to try for auditions, teach them how to improve their presentations and CVs, and basically do everything we can to help them get a place at auditions. Also, to ensure that young Basque dancers have the opportunity to join our job placement project, we have created a “high-performance cell” named “MUGI” for Basque dancers aged 16 and over, who can start working in the platform and train to occupy one of its positions in the future. Dantzaz Elkartea also organises an awareness and pedagogy course focused on the province of Gipuzkoa, with workshops and specific shows for schoolchildren plus actions designed to bring dance closer to new audiences and lend support to new choreography creators.

ADRIANA POUS OJEDA Artistic Director Dantzaz Artistic Director since 2008, leads the Dantzaz project since its beginning, giving to young european dancers the opportunity to acquire stage experience through Dantzaz Konpainia productions that offers job opportunities working with renowned contemporary choreographers. As a dance educator, she is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Dance of Madrid, and has the degree of Professor of Dance of the French State. She has participated in the differents projects to raise public awarenees of the importance of dance, since 2002 in Basque Country, making classes and workshops. Due to this experience, she has been invitated to take part as a jury in national and international events. Her 20 year experience as a dancer in different companies in Europe and South America has enabled her to master a range of choreographic styles from classic to contemporary and has had the honor and pleasure of sharing the stage with artists such as Nureyev, Makarova, and Bujones, among others. Artistic Director of Dantzaz In Dantzaz Platform she reconciles and refines the formative process of young European dancers, plenty of enthusiasm, and helps them to adapt to the professional dancing. With a totally personalizited method, really artisanal, she strives to transmit them energy management and techniques, confronting them with the reality of a professional dance company: to quickly coordinate and adapt to a team (in particular for those coming from another countries, culture and language) while working with various choreographic styles, tours, auditions... This unique approach of close partnership with dancers has blossomed into a successfull outcome: more than 50 young european dancers who have worked with Adriana Pous have taken the big step to join great dance companies as Ballets de Monte Carlo, Gauthier Dance, Ballet Biarritz Malandain Prejlocaj Ballet, Nederland Dance Theatre II, among many. In Dantzaz Konpainia, she oversees casting processes in each creation, directs all equipment layouts and manages all processes, joining the dancers at all times and helping them to manage energy levels, fatigue management, team dynamics, group life, and fundamental respect for people so that each individual can practice self-management and self-monitoring in day-to-day life. In the production processes, she chooses and coordinates the participation of several contemporary artists of the quality of Galili, Koch, San Martin, Timulak, Pryzybylowicz, building a strong repertoire, full of emotions, that brands the Dantzaz performers throughout many nationals and european theaters, and giving to the company an own personality. She also promotes choreographycal processes, giving opportunities to dancers to create their own pieces, and also to local and emerging choreographers, giving them the opportunity to work with a great company. This approach is executed while conducting a continuous and focused search for new challenges and pathways; new audiences and spaces for the dance world and its new tools, and participating in research projects at national and international levels.
