AUSTIN ENERGY | AUSTIN, TX The four-story, 275,000-sf Austin Energy Headquarters will accommodate 900-1,000 employees. The design incorporates a holistic approach to user wellness throughout the building by maximizing connections to the outdoor environment, daylight, and social interaction. The courtyard was designed for activity with a variety of scaled spaces to attract gatherings of all sizes and needs. A shaded terrace at the second level opens to the street capturing wind patterns to cool the courtyard during hot summer months. Indoor gathering space including lounges, break rooms and conference rooms form into three ‘social tubes’ that carve into the building massing at different levels, connecting by the feature stairs to improve interaction and wellness at the same time. This project is designed to hit three metrics: LEED Platinum, Austin Energy Green Building’s Five Star rating, and WELL Building Certifications. The project construction was completed in 2021.

NASHVILLE YARDS | NASHVILLE, TN Nashville Yards is a new four-acre, mixed-use entertainment district near the heart of downtown Nashville. The project will be anchored by a 4,000-patron music venue, a luxury cinema complex, a 700-patron live entertainment club, and a 240-room boutique hotel. The team has provided a concept design that draws inspirations from the site’s history- it was once a hub for commerce, encompassing the city’s brick, lumber, and rail yards. Designer envisions this project as a bridge to connect the past and future, by inheriting historic elements and turning them into a contemporary design.

HUNTINGTON PARK AQUATICS CENTER | HUNTINGTON PARK, CA The two-story, 30,000-sf Huntington Park Aquatics Center consists of an Olympic size indoor natatorium, locker rooms, admin offices and the cardio training space. The project is in the middle of a park where the existing landscape and facilities present a strong sense of symmetry. The design concept is to create an iconic object within a rectangular footprint in response to site constraints and program need.

04. COLLEGE OF MARIN LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER | MARIN CITY, CA The new 80,000-sf learning resource center will replace the existing library, and include cafeteria, classrooms, admin office, bookstore, and exhibition space. The design responds to the topography of the site- the dynamic sloped massing is a result of bridging two main campus entries at different elevations: internal social stairs follow the slope to connect interior spaces.

San Bruno Community Center is a new two-story, approx. 50,000-sf building including a community lounge, lobby, gymnasium, indoor pool, walking track, fitness room, community hall, classrooms, conference rooms, and offices for city staffs. The design minimizes its footprint by incorporating a highly efficient layout and establishes its identity by creating visual connections to the park. Transparency is achieved through largely applied glass material at both north and east facades, which are facing the park entries.

SAN JOSE CITY COLLEGE CAREER EDUCATION COMPLEX |SAN JOSE, CA The career education complex will be comprised of a new 90,000 SF facility and a renovation of an existing structure, suited for specific career education programs. The completed facility will provide space for a variety of programs, including flexible active learning classrooms, tech-rich labs for skilled workers, health sciences, business information systems, and campus IT disciplines, faculty offices, student support spaces, lecture halls, cafe, and dining areas. The design features a series of shifted modular classroom boxes unified by the folded building envelope, which breaks down the building scale and creates multiple exterior collaboration areas for faculties at the same time.
