Pack all necessary items
Hand-washing near the top or side pockets
Sharp Container in the contaminated compartment
Caution
Designate a clean area in the car (Box)
Keep the Bag in the Box while traveling
Don’t take the bag to “infested homes”

Consider patient home contaminated
Consider every item in the patient home contaminated
The nursing bag must be protected from contamination
Every item used in a nursing procedure must be clean before use
Every reusable item used in a nursing procedure must be cleaned before reuse or repacking
Every disposable item must be disposed in sealed trash bags
Every item contaminated with biological agents must be disposed according to state laws
Start of Visit
Choose a area to set the bag (NOT ON FLOOR)
Clean
Enough space
Close to patient
A source of water
Away from pets and children
Spread an Impervious Barrier
A clean sheet or paper or plastic as a barrier between the area an the bag
Set the bag on the Barrier Sheet
Designate 3 areas
For disposal and sharps container
For clean and unused items
For used items
Procedure
Remove hand washing supplies
Wash hand properly and dry (do not use patient supplies)
Take out all necessary items (on clean area) out of the bag
Close the bag (wash hand before entering the bag again)
Use items from Clean area
Put used items in the used item area
Discard disposables in sealed disposable bag
Clean reusable items and put in clean area
Bag reusable items that cannot be cleaned in patient home (Do not put in the Nursing Bag)
Wash hand and dry
Repack the nursing bag, and close
Pick up the nursing bag, and discard the impervious barrier
Clean and disinfect the bag before placing in the car Box
Replenish the supplies used before next patient visit
