SPARKLE & SHINE
NABELA & SETH AUGUST 23, 2015
Bangladeshi-American bride Nabela’s vibrant fusion wedding was equal parts dazzling and intimate, with three stunning dresses and unique personal touches.
FROM NABELA: “Seth and I met at the mall. He worked downstairs and my family had just taken over a restaurant at the food court. I saw him standing in line [at the restaurant] and was immediately drawn to him. He and I started talking and eventually, he mustered up the courage to ask me for my number. For the proposal, my Bella Babes knew before I did! He took my phone away, went on Instagram and shared with our followers that he was going to propose. He took me to one of my favourite restaurants, where I was led to a special corner with a bouquet of roses waiting at a table. The waitress brought out a plate with chocolate-covered strawberries on top of rose petals and a marshmallow treat shaped like a heart. Surrounding the plate, ‘Will you marry me?’ was written in chocolate drizzle. A special moment from our wedding day was when Seth performed a Bollywood dance for me. He knew how I had always dreamt of my future husband performing this huge Bollywood style dance for me, so he performed it in front of everybody at our wedding. On your wedding day, let it all go and make sure to have fun. Be there. Feel it. Celebrate your love. Take lots of pictures and make memories.”
From Seth: "It's never a dull moment when I'm around Nabela. She's funny, intelligent, beautiful and the most compassionate woman I know."
From Nabela: "Seth is the most loving, gentle person I know. He has a heart of gold."
The Dresses: "I had a total of three dresses! I never imagined myself in a traditional American wedding dress-- so it felt different. I felt like Cinderella! My traditional South Asian wedding dresses were so colourful, beautiful, and special. They embodied my personality and who I am."
