Survey spotlights trend away from traditional farewells

More than half of us would prefer an inexpensive, informal funeral service for ourselves, with only immediate family present – or even no funeral at all, going straight to cremation or burial, according to new research. hearse procession and a formal style of service. 40.3% of those who took part in a survey of 2,560 people commissioned by White Rose Modern Funerals based in Teddington, said they’d like to dispense with the formalities and go for a ‘no fuss’ departure, with a further 15.7% saying they’d prefer to go straight to cremation or burial with no service and nobody present. A formal funeral service was the preferred choice of just 28.6% while 15.4% were unsure about their funeral choice.

These results confirmed the growing trend we see with families at their time of need, when they approach us asking if it is possible to organise a simple yet respectful farewell.
