Sketch Model Due to the limit of budget, we can't afford to build the curvilinear outline. The strategy of incoporating the architecture language from the sketch model to the final design is taking the curvilinear outline and applying to the interior circulation and exterior facade to create fluidity..

Concept There is a saying in Chinese which is " The virtue of water is to nourish people, The essence of scenery is water." Water is indispensable in our daily life. However, due to the development of modern metropolis, it is quite difficult to have water views and/ or facilities for residents to reach just within their residentail building. This can cause disatisfaction mentally and physically. The aim of this case is to demostrate the pros of water so residents can be benefited by water. Looking at calm water can help people relax. It can take away the heat from body by getting in water during the summer time and moisturize dry skin in winter. It also helps adjusting temperature and humidity. Programs 330 square meters Swimming pool and Jacuzzi Living room Gathering space Dining area Kitchen Bedroom x4 Restroom x4 Floor Plan

The Luo House Detail Design and Construction Management 細節設計與工程管理 September 2012 to Present

7

The Luo House is located in the farmland in I-Lan county. It is under a special category of farmhouse in Taiwan. The Luo house is owned by one of the shareholders of the company. It is not designed by our office (Moodease) but by another design firm that was bankrupted before our office was established. However, even though the design was done by the previous firm, we still have the control of space planning and detail design. Due to the limited competence that we have in this case, the main focus of this case is concentrating on space planning in the most practical way and solving the problem of oppressive feeling that is brought by the tight span distance.

8

The Luo house has four bedrooms and four and half restrooms. It is designed to serve as a vacation house for owner to spend time with his family and friends from Taipei during the weekend. This house is a wood structure building that uses screw for enhencement in joints.

The Jiang House is also located in the farmland in I-Lan county. It is under a special category of farmhouse in Taiwan, too. The Jiang house is owned by another shareholder of the company. We did not involove in any design in this case. However, we do provide professional suggestions to make the house more unified from the overall architecture language to small detail design. Nevertheless, the final decision is made by the client. The main focus of this case is construction management, that includes convergence between different constrctions and learning the characteristics between different tectonic systems.

Wall and Pipeline The major difference between wood architecture and reinforced concrete arhictecuture is the density of walls. Not liking reinforced concrete wall, wood wall has hollow space between the finished surface and stud. Pipeline needs to be designed in a way that it will not be blocked by studs and joists.

2nd Floor Restroom

Waterproof protection The primary concern of restroom is waterproofing ability and ventilation, specially when the space is mostly constructed by wood. Using wood as primary materials can bring several benefits, such as the smell of wood, quality texture and it continuously releases phytoncid . However, wood is very sensitive to change of humidity and can be easily deformed by this factor. Therefore, waterproof protection is the first concern in restroom

Because wood is very sensitive to humidity and water leaking is the major problem in restroom, Therefore we apply four layers of waterproof protection. The first layer is 10 mm waterproofing concrete board. The green PU layer goes to the second. The third layer is the brown FRP layer. Finally, the stone tiles go ontop of FRP. In this way, even if water goes through the first and second layers, it will not damage the structure.
