Savysasachi Sarayu is a luxury condominium located right at the heart of Bangalore. This is the only building allowed to be built up to 60m within the neighbourhood so that it is outstandingly visible from the surroundings. The core and basement had been built based on the previous design done by the other architect. The main concept is to create a building with a clean simple form, uniquely identical from all angles.

The building form is expressed as three connecting blocks and where the junction of the blocks occurs, vertical spaces have been carved out of the building. These spaces have been filled with ‘birds nest’ platforms – link spaces intended as opportunistic recreational spaces. These links provide a horizontal, direct social interconnection between the three blocks of apartments and a vertical connection to other amenity spaces such as the rooftop gym, gardens and the swimming pool.

Following the success of G-Corp Residences I, we were asked to design G-Corp Residences II. The client wanted to have the same concept design of vertically and horizontally interactive spaces linked throughout the building. The designs of the building facade and unit layout remain almost the same as the previous version.

Containing the typologies of rowhouses in one parcel and semi-detached and detached villas in the second parcel.

The semi-detached and detached villas are placed in a more pre-ordained streetscape. The unit and plot sizes permit only a two storey unit and to improve the street presence and proportion, the form of the units has been accentuated to appear as a three storey unit. The open roof terrace occupies the roof terrace and makes use of the excellent Bangalore climate.

++ 156 premium rowhouses ++ Unit sizes: GFA 189sq.m-235sq.m ++ Facilities: Gym, Sky Pool, Function Rooms,Party Decks As part of Embassy Springs Master Plan, the row houses have been planned to restrict the vehicular access (to the houses) to the exterior of the parcel, thereby reducing the amount of road area and at the same time concentrating the open communal garden spaces into the centre of the parcel. Access to the open spaces is taken directly from the living spaces of each unit. The unit and plot sizes permit only a two storey unit and the same architectural technique has been applied to provide proportion and presence and utilize the available roof terrace.

This 5-acre development comprises of row-house residential units. The desired acceptable density was achieved by minimising the perceived vehicle access routes. Material treatment of the access ways was detailed was intended to ensure that they were seen as driveways leading to the houses rather than roads. This, in turn, resulted in the house accommodation being turned placing the primary living spaces at what would traditionally be considered the rear of the house. Living spaces spill out onto either a private garden or a communal garden connecting to the Clubhouse and swimming pool. This ensured that the open green spaces could be used away from the internal traffic and resulted in a larger area of open garden space.

Alacarte Halong Bay Condotel Development occupies a prime seafront plot with large sweeps of unobstructed views towards the heritage site. With a faรงade design inspired by the undulating flow of sea waves, the 35-storey tower sits on top of a four-storey podium, offering hotel rooms, serviced apartments, restaurants, ballrooms, meeting rooms, gyms and four-season pools, spa facilities and retail outlets. While most rooms enjoy breathtaking sea view, the infinity pool, sky bars and restaurants on the rooftop also overlook Halong Bay. The site enjoys good accessibility with road connections on three sides. To enhance pedestrian connectivity and create a focal point along the promenade, the ground level is designated for retail. Its strategic location ensures high visibility from the city and the bay.

The design developed an organic language in response to the dramatic coastal dune topography. Maximizing spectacular ocean and mountain views, the buildings are designed to gently sit within the landscape. Situated on Cam Ranh Bay, Central Vietnam, the 25-acre sand dune site the design imposes the texture and patterns of the local estuary prawn farms onto the site. The texture and pattern suggest a man-made naturalised form which can be found locally. The imposition of this form on the site identifies the extent of ornamental landscape against the natural landscape of the sand dunes which are retained and stabilised with indigenous plant species.

One Ungasan questions and explores the traditional typology of a resort hotel. One Ungasan is a private club offering Owners the full facilities of a resort hotel. Located on an elevated coastal site in the south of Bali, One Ungasan casts a singular form on the skyline, providing guests and Owners with dramatic ocean views. Swimming pools wrap the building footprint and public facilities utilise the steep terraces. The glazed exterior uses multiple colour tones selected to closely resemble the tones from the ocean. The reflective surface transferring their surroundings onto the building faรงade.

++ An 80-storey mixed-use tower Including Hotel, Serviced Apartments with Ballrooms, Office, Retail and F&B Located in the South Jakarta administrative region, Mangkuluhur City Tower 2 will be standing as one of the tallest buildings in the capital of Indonesia, catering to offices, hotels, retail, food and beverage. It is envisioned to give a new definition of work and lifestyle for the future: co-working spaces with green pockets and floating platforms to encourage connectivity and flexibility for offices across multiple floors, and a showcase of the imminent way of living and leisure with the unique spatial experience of open voids and greeneries as living rooms exclusively for occupants. By opening up the rectangular tower like a 3D-pixelated puzzle, the form of this 80-storey building breaks away from tradition and hierarchy of the conventional corporate office and is an evolution of the current open office plan. The design allows for innovative ways to encourage collaboration in varied environments applied also to hotel and service apartment for greater experiences and offerings to guests with changing atrium space and communal terraces.

++ A mixed-use community center as part of Jurong East MRT train station. ++ 2 building blocks consist of Office, Retail, Singapore National Library, Community Sports Hall and Gym, Singapore People’s Association, connected by a linked bridge flying over MRT viaducts LTA Jurong Complex is a mixed-use development located at the heart of Eastern centre of Singapore. The project includes two buildings interconnected with Jurong East MRT and Bus Interchange at ground floor and first floor levels. The building consists of a National Library, an Office Block, Retail Facilities, and a Community Center with sports halls and gyms and Singapore People Association. One of the biggest challenges of the projects is the two land parcels are separated by an 85-meter stretch of MRT viaducts. The main concept of the project is to create an urban park, connecting the two main vertical circulation cores of the two blocks by a sky bridge. The building form is a composition of interlocking blocks representing the internal functionality of the buildings. The building facade details are simplified and unified by using vertical fins, which could be achieved within the Client’s tight budget.

Con Au Island Master Plan is a 40-ha exclusive riverisland resorts and holiday destination in the south of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The central public green corridor running across the site together with an extensive water and canal network helps to integrate different parts of the development. Alongside this green spine is the central street retail district which starts with a DFS mall and terminates with an outdoor amphitheatre. These communal public spaces and retail facilities are the catalysts and attractors of the development. The villas and resorts are located at more quiet zones with canal and river views.

DFS mall was designed as an outdoor retail mall, located at the main arrival plaza of the island. To blend with the adjacent shophouses, DFS building mass has been reduced by breaking it form into smaller blocks which are highly permeable at the ground level. The upper level is linked with the central square on the other side of the canal and the themed retail streets by large staircases. The building is seemlessly integrated with the surroundings and acts as a starting node of the whole vibrant shopping experience. + Roof form was inspired by traditional communal buildings

3.2 POSTGRADUATE WORKS | NANGANG TYPOLOGICAL URBANISM School: AA School of Architecture Tutor: Lawrence Barth , Dominic Papa Location: Taipei, Taiwan Project Infomation: Taipei’s Nangang district is part of Taiwan’s innovation corridor, formed by the clustering of high-tech industries and institutions around high speed transport links. The problem with corridor is that it links places at a distance while inhibiting the formation of urbanized areas which are field rather than linear or point based developments. In this particular area within the corridor, the development is compressed between a river and raised highway on one side and a hill-scape on the other. Our project urges that innovation is becoming more than what happens in an office or lab. Instead, industries rely on a network of collaboration and competition that is supported by leisure, civic and living environments. We aim to create an area logic that accommodate diversity and at the same time providing coherence. We explore how architectural urbanism can contribute to a complete innovation environment instead of discrete patchwork interventions.

Tutor: Jorge Fiori, Elena Pascolo, Alex Warnock-Smith. Location: London, the UK Lower Lea Valley was once a bustling area of industrial production. The Lower Lea Valley site has gone through phases of different uses and ownerships that include industrial uses and the production of goods and services. Currently, a range of recycling industries, an indispensable service element of the city, is located throughout the valley. Tesco, as a new civic centre renovated from a superstore, will be a catalyst in configuring social infrastructure within the Lower Lea Valley area. Tesco is one of the stating point of interventions within the overall spatial strategy of the area, which potentially mutates to new form of retail centre which is spatially more integrated to the urban fabric, and it also intensifies social facilities and civic space for social interaction.

3.3 UNDERGRADUATE WORKS | GRADUATION PROJECT - HOA BINH AGED CARE RESORT School: National University of Civil Engineering Location: Hoabinh, Vietnam Area: 5ha Project Infomation: The aged care resort is located in a mountainous area within a few villages. The main concept of the project is to holistically integrate the new building environment into the existing villages in different aspects. The topography, trails, ponds are kept as per the existing locations and routes. Secondly, the project was socially connected to the local communities by offering a community center as part of the new development. this building is the only visible part of the development from the paddy rice field. By doing these, it will beneficial for both the elderly and the local.
