The outreach of this proposal in two folds: 1. The major stakeholders are the residents of Royapuram and its neighbouring areas, who beneďŹ r from this proposal in varied ways. Refurbishing the Royapuram Station, which is in a dilapidated condition presently, would help in alleviating the inconvenience faced by a working individual in having to travel to the Washermanpet or the chennai Beach station. The portable market that would be anchored in the area adjoinng the Royapuram Station for substantial amount of time during the day will serve as a decongested marketplace for them. Additionally, the park that is situated a little over a kilometer from the station, provides an area of respite from the over congestion and pollution experienced by the residents in every pocket of Royapuram.
ISSUES
2. This proposal aects the urban population of chennai on a holistic levels by bringing about this promenade, the ďŹ rst of its kind, as an addition to the urban landscape of this city. The Madras Promenade will draw the public from various parts of the city to come and experience it, which connects to the Maritime Museume, yet another novelty to the city.

DESIGN
This promenade is an elevated pathway beginning form the proposed Maritime Museum that traveks parallel to Rajaji Salai and extends all the way up to the Beach Road. The stretch of the promenade between the Maritime Museum and the Royapuram station is being delineated in this proposal, wherein scope for future expansion towards the Beach Road is feasible. This elevated, green walk -way will have entry/exit points at the major nodes along this stretch, making it conveniently accessible to the public.The fixed end point of the Madras Promenade, the Maritime Museum, is a docked vessel that encompasses the museum, souvenir shops, cafes, restaurants and at it’s highest point, an observatory deck. Features being incoporated ino the design to enchance the experience of this promenade include a green park adjacent to the waterfront that acts as a point of respite from the surrounding congestion seen in Royapuram. It also includes a portable market that runs directly below this promenade, from where it is possible for visitors to purchase food/other goods.
The park provides the residents of Royapuram with an open, greenspace in the midst of the over congested street layout. This will act as a place of respite from the overwhelming suffocation experienced in the greater part of Royapuram. It includes a jogging track, a deck and other landscape features for the public. Adjoinng the park will be a tidal energy generation yard that will supply power to the docked vessels, there by reducing the environmental pollution caused by the vessels running their engines continuously.
The Maritime Museum functions as the point of attraction that would draw the public to the Harbour form various part of chennai. It will house a museum in the lower desks that would funciton as a typical maritime museum would. In addition to this, the upper decks will act as an observatory deck for an unobstructed view of the harbour and the skyline of chennai. It will also accommodate restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops, which act as an added attraction.

Shine a Light Indo - German Urban Mela Lighting Workshop - YMCA grounds Chennai Dr. Amardeep Dugar : Lighting Research Design Reference : Lighting Indian Vol.7 No.5 September - October 2012
Reflecting the importance and the beauty that an Urban Residual Spaces can offer us. To design and realize a mini- installation using the luminars provided by the technical heads. The idea was to understand the functioning and performances of these ďŹ xtures and to use them to its best to lighten up the urban residual space which was the main access avenue to the Indo German mela. The pictures are from the installation made on the camping ground near the main gate of the mela. This area being a prime location in termsof proximity to the main gate, we decide to make this into an inviting and interactive urban garden for the meal visitors. The aim of this urban garden within the city was to improve the quality of a public space and give life to it especially during the nightime. Urban furniture elements such as stone seats and bollards along with wire mesh and pots were used as props to blend with the existing elements on site such as trees, water tanks, pump room, etc. Simple techniques of light and shade, along with Photography: Urban Garden ( Technical head: Amit Gupta / Cosmo - Vis-a-vis). high-tech LED and ďŹ bre- optic luminaries were used to bring about an interesting blend of simple and complex spaces within the urban garden. This idea was to bring life to dead spaces that do not serve any real purpose.

Weekend COTTAGE Designed for a family of four, located along the East Coast Road in Chennai. A beach facing property with an extent of 2400 sqm and carpet area of around 200 sqm. The process behind the planing of the cottage is an inspiration from a single line mural drawing. A composition made from 3 lines, a Spline and a dot.

Render View: The above view is a scene of the deck which opens out to the swimming pool and the gajebo both of which are sea facing. This also connects the living room with the master and the childrens bed room. A wider deck space by the childrens room allows them to spill to the outdoor.

The Idea was to enjoy the vast ocean. So the design follows a spline starting from the left to the right thereby allowing a 180 degree view. The main circulation corridor is tucked on the western side. The design also features a pool along with a gajebo for outdoor dining.

With basic amenities of bathing units and servants quaters this weekend cottage is perfect stopover for a master bedroom relaxing holiday.

v ILLA RESIDENCE model house concept
Pitch: May 2015
This project is one of the 150 residence villa proposed at Yercaud. The client M/s. Misty Valley wanted a design that catered to a weekender destination at yercaud. The devlopment is planned for 150 plots each roughly about 60 X 50 fts. It has a 30 feet road access, the other proposed amenities include a club house and a swimming pool.

The project sits on a plot of 50 X 75 fts and is a west facing property. The main challeng was to cater to vastu as well as to encapture the valley view which is on the western side. A 1,200 sqft Double bedroom villa in a gated community of around 150 villas. This is the model house given to the client which will set example for the rest of the row houses
