Activities

Dārta worked at architecture practice “Legzdiņš and partneri” for about 6 months and during this time she participated in 2 significan commercial projects for submitting in a tender. She has exibited great interest in the design and brainstorming process, contributing valuable ideas and sugestions. when working Dārta is always keeping up with the overall flow of the project and how her part fits in the big picture. Dārta pays very much attention to details and functional quality of the plans, which is pivotal in ensuring quality of the project. In the Bauska central library project Dārta has exhibited genuine interest in the project concept development process; the project design was done in close communication and many design aspects were her inspirations. Dārta is highly proefficient in computer graphic programs, that made the design process much faster and easier, as well as possesses a strong sense of proportion. Dārta has a strong passion for architecture and an excellent work ethic, therefore I highly recommend her for the architecture intern position. Sincerely, Gatis Legzdiņš Director of “Legzdiņš un parteri” info@legzdinsunpartneri.lv

STUDENT CONTEST - MULTI COMFORT SCHOOL IN TURKEY

&

Awarded 2nd place in Project team: Dārta Dambe, Anita Apele, Andra Odumāne national stage in Latvia. Used software: Revit, Autocad, 3Dmax render, Photoshop. Passive House Planning Package.

LOCATION IN TURKEY The work on ISOVER student contest was done in groups (Dārta Dambe, Anita Apele, Andra Odumāne). The project “Fair and Square” is awarded to continue competition in the National stage. Each member of the group took valuable part in planning and designing process. My personal addition ito the project is working with Passive House Planning packacge to archiece a passive house requirements.

Primary school is planned for 600 children from 1st to 4th grade. To ensure a comfortable and friendly study environment, we propose to devide classes in 4 groups by age - therefore asuring each group a smaller study environment. Each group has a seperate courtyard where they can feel comfortable among their classmates and feel save as the teachers can always see them.

Planning a passive house in Turkish hot climate was a great challange. School’s architecture had to be not only functional but also at most energy efficient. Therefore many features regarding overheating problem and ventilation requirements had to be implemented. School is situated in a steep landscape, therefore building volume is partly digged in the ground and blends together with the plot.

HOUSING DIVERSITY - APPARTMENT HOUSE IN RIGA

LOCATION IN RIGA

MASTER PLAN

Appartment building is designed acording to a previous project - master plan of the whole conctruction site. Mater plan was designed in groups (Dārta Dambe, Anita Apele, Andra Odumāne), where new waterfront, rainwater channel system and road system was designed. Also dimensions of plot and height of the buildings were defined. Housing divesrsity project was done individually, where one part of the master plan was detailed.

DIVERSITY

When designing building, public and private space was determined. Planned theritory is very diverse in matter of usage: different kind of appartments, commercial areas, public park, boat dock, school and kindergarden. Public and private relations were firstly taken into account. Building is designed as one whole structure, but different usages and fuctions are set: parking, commercial, small 2 story appartment to 4 room penthouse

COMFORT OF INMATES

Each appartment has it’s own outer space; either a balcony or logia. The sloped shape of the building is designed due to various aspect: using sloped roofs appartments go from 2 story to 4 story height; the shape manages optimal insulation for appartmens and inner courtyard; drainage system is applied to drain water from roofs to nearby trench. Solar pannels are applied on the roof slope facing south.

ARCHITECTURE CONTEST: CENTRAL LIBRARY IN BAUSKA

Work with Central Library in Bauska Proposal was done together with main architect. Therefore I am partially responsible for the design concept. My responsibilities mainly refered to plans and visual appearance.

Library proposal manages to put all necesarry funcions in a relatively small volume. Therefore making the building cost eficient. Building volume is made to be similar to the existing city, but making accents on 2 constrasting forms - free formed core in the center and regular formed

Awarded 2nd place

Library functions are set in the first and second floor. Administrative and conference hall take place in the 3rd leve. Library povides space for holding a meetings and seminars, and place for schildren’s events.
