Such a warning indicator can come on due to any of the following reasons;
Reason #1- Engine is low on oil
Oil level- if drops below a certain level, the low oil warning indicator will come on.

Reason #2- Faulty oil

It is the oil pump that forces oil to reach distant engine parts.
If it malfunctions, the low oil light will come on.
You may need to replace the defective pump to get the issue resolved.
Reason #3- Oil sludge
Low oil light illumination in a car may also be caused by sludge buildup.
Some of the major contributors to oil sludge formation in a car engine are;
Oxidation of motor oil & Accumulation of dust, debris, and other contaminants in the oil
Reason #4- Clogged filter
Oil filter shields important engine components from sludge and contaminants.
However, it can become clogged over time.
A clogged oil filter- if not replaced in timecan cause the oil light to come on.
