ELLENOR’S TWILIGHT WALK GOES VIRTUAL FOR 2020
By Basia Wilson
With change comes opportunity – and now, here’s your chance to experience the ellenor Twilight Walk like never before!
ellenor’s eleventh Twilight Walk is going virtual this year. The virtual walk replaces the event planned to be held in Gravesend’s Cyclopark. Passion, energy and community remain a part of the event and as always, proceeds will help ellenor care for people living with life-limiting conditions and all those who support, love and care for them. Participants are encouraged to share their journeys on social media using #TwilightWalk so their fellow Twilight Walkers know how they’re doing.
Your fundraising means we can continue to deliver our care to people living with life limiting conditions in Kent and Bexley.
Sponsored by award winning developer Esquire Developments, the virtual Twilight Walk takes place from Saturday 12 September – Friday 18 September and gives people the opportunity to celebrate the memories of loved ones. To proudly and loudly honour those people who played a big part in their life as well as celebrating the work of the ellenor staff and volunteers, who make a huge difference to thousands of lives every year. The virtual Twilight Walk will conclude with an online streaming event on Friday 18 September with music and entertainment to share with all the family.
David Braddon, Esquire Developments says: “ellenor is a familiar name locally and has a special place in many people’s hearts especially for those who have seen firsthand the incredible care they provide to loved ones. The charity provides hospice care and support to people of all ages – babies, children, adults – and families facing lifelimiting or terminal illness and the Virtual Twilight Walk is a chance to make a difference – to raise much needed funds for ellenor so they can continue to support families through every stage of their journey. We are delighted to be supporting the Virtual Twilight Walk again in 2020”.
Wearing any and all of your orange clothing, we want you to take on your own Twilight challenge for us – from 8km to 12km walk a route of your own design - and support us by raising much needed funds so ellenor can continue to provide vital end of life care to our patients and their families.
Kate Barnes ellenor’s Interim Head of Fundraising says: “Many families across Kent have experienced the vital support that ellenor offers in all sorts of circumstances – including the current pandemic - and to both children and adults living with life-limiting illnesses and their families. The Covid-19 crisis has added an entirely unprecedented range of fears and challenges to their lives, and a new dimension to the importance of the care that ellenor offers. It is vital that we raise the funds needed to continue providing hospice care and support to our patients and their families.
“While we have to walk apart this year, we will still be able to come together in support of people receiving hospice care in our community. We are hoping to raise £35,000 through the Virtual Twilight Walk 2020 – our aim is to continue providing our highly valued services to the local community and I very much hope that those who can will continue to support us during these challenging times – support we just couldn’t do without”.
Saturday 12 – Friday 18 September: Complete your Virtual Twilight Walk Friday 18 September at 7pm: Join ellenor for our Virtual Twilight Walk online Streaming Event Registration: £15: Adults & £10: Under 16
