A Schubertiade is an event held to celebrate the music of Franz Schubert. Each of the concerts in this series explores a particular element of Schubert’s work and is performed by international artists in the Great Hall. Presented by the Arts at Dartington in association with Wigmore Hall, London (Artistic Director, John Gilhooly).

Into the Depths of an Earthly Cosmology
7 February 7.30pm United Free Church, Fore Street, Totnes The distinguished lutenist celebrates the music of Dowland and JS Bach. Sometimes referred to as the piano of the renaissance, the lute is a particularly sensitive string instrument that in skillful hands can reflect the soul of the performer. Nearly all of its vast repertoire was composed by lute players and John Dowland was one of the greatest.
