MAINTENANCE OF MOVING PARTS / FRAME BEARINGS MAINTENANCE ROOTS It is important to check the swingarm for any play or seized bearings. This can be checked once you remove the rear shock and check if all pivot points can rotate without play and without significant friction. Once the bearings require replacement please follow simple instructions. Remember to use a proper bearing removal and bearing press tool. Otherwise you can damage the linkage or the swingarm. First up you need to totally disassemble the rear suspension of your bike, for this you’ll need two 5mm and two 8mm allen keys. Remove the rear derailleur and cable, remove rear brake and cable, chain, rear wheel and crankset. Next 5mm allen keys remove all the suspension bolts. Once you have the rear triangle off clean linkages up from grease etc. with a rag, so you can properly see what you’re doing. Remove the contact washers and axles from the bearings on both the linkages and rear suspension triangle – clean them and put somewhere safe. Inspect the parts for wear and cracks. Next is the removal of the bearings. Using bearing press remove the bearings out of their beds. You want to be careful and get the bearing out as level as possible to minimize the possibility of ovalizing the bearing bed and having play when you install the new bearing and possibly replacement of the part. Utilize the damaged bearing and press in the new ones. Follow the drawings below, assemble the rear triangle and go for a test ride.

SHINE Full suspension frames has many threaded joints. It is very important to ensure that all joints are properly tightened. Only then the frame can function properly. Dartmoor Shine uses 4 types of screws: A – Rear shock , 5mm hex key, torque to 10–12 Nm B – Link screws, 6mm hex key, torque to 10–12 Nm C – Rear yoke screws, 4mm hex key, torque to 6–8 Nm D – BB screws, 4mm hex key, torque to 6–8 Nm In case of play on the pivot point, first check if all the screws are properly tightened. Check also the damper bushings for play. If none of the above is causing play, it means that the pivot point is loose. To fix it: 1. Dismount the cranks 2. Unscrew all the rear yoke screws and the BB screws (C and D on the picture) 3. Make sure that the necessary spacer is under the BB cup and then tighten it while holding the left BB cup (to prevent BB sleeve rotating in the frame) 4. Tighten the rear yoke and BB screws. In case you cannot do it or it did not help contact qualified bike service.
