The aims of this project is to conserve Jacobson Heritage Building by refunction and infill a new structure to existing. Jacobson Building intially used by one of Dutch Indiesch company, The Jacobson van den Berg & C0. It was used as the company’s office and warehouse. But now the building is abandoned and began to decay.

The proposed refunction for Jacobson building is heritage development center for Palembang as one of JKPI member (Jaringan Kota Pusaka Indonesia). New function needs a new facility building (infill) which connected to Jacobson. The design is implemented with adaptive reuse method and exhibition concept. Exhibition has the meaning to get attention. in this case the Jacobson building as a cultural heritage building that needs attention.

Later the concept is implemented through three strategy.

1.) Orientation Axis This strategy aims to exhibit the Jacobson building and the surrounding historical context. Located in historical area, forms a virtual axis on site which gives orientation to Sekanak riverscape and historic buildings around the site. this orientation axis which then becomes a guideline in mass layout on site.

2.) Adaptive Reuse Reviving Jacobson Building with refunction and necessary physical modification. Palembang as heritage city need to develop its heritage assets.

This project transforms abandoned Jacobson Building into facility which will be developed, promoted and educated its visitor about the heritage assets in Palembang, while Jacobson itself also considered as one of heritage assets

3.) Compatible Contrast This strategy aims to distinguish visual attention among old building and the new infilled facility. By contrasting elements like material, and colour, it is hoped that Jacobson building can be articulated in design. While the shape of new facility is repetition from the shape of Jacobson’s roof.

Block Plan

This manual project is a design of residential house together with architect studio office.

Function and tropical aspects is the starting point of the design process of this house. Located in a residential area, the site has orientation to the east and dense existing trees on site become a challenge as well as potential for design.

Considering site’s orientation, design idea is to cover this home-office with shade to protect its resident from direct sunlight. While design incorporate existing trees and inner court element to comfort the temperature and to keep the natural light spread throughout the house.

The building mass is splitted into two to distinguish home and office zone, but also creates a valley which allowing the breeze to flow through home-office. West side of the mass is elevated to provide shading at the east side. While the east will be shaded by existing trees at the front. The lower part of mass is made semi-opened for public activity.

Rental Office Polda Academic Project Office I 27800 sqm 2018 I Studio 6 Project Individual Simpang Polda, Palembang

Located at one of the most busy junction in Palembang (Simpang Polda), the Rental Ofiice design seeks to maximize the potential of site’s location. The idea is how this Rental Office can have a promising commercial value and attracting visitors to come by design.

By establishing visual relation between building with “Simpang Polda”, the design creates a Focal Point on the side of the building which facing the junction “Simpang Polda”. The focal point is shaped to vertical corrugated like form.

The building mainly used as Rental Ofiice, while the ground part as mall and the top part as lounge.

A lot of events are held on the front yard of Baba Boen Tjit house, directly facing the Musi river. Nipah handicraft workshop is an event which is always held there. The design of Ruang Nipah takes a contrast shape from its surrounding. However, local materials such as nipah are one of the main components of the design. So the design was named after Nipah material.

Ruang Nipah offers a space which can be use for any activities regarding community activities around Baba Boen Tjit house.

Acitvity like Nipah craftsmanship, live band, or exhibition can be promoted at Ruang Nipah.

souvenir shop with a variety of bromo trinkets and culinary specialties. A haven for visitors who want to explore the beautiful nature of Bromo. Bale Dwiangsa Adiwarna displays local wisdom and harmony with nature. Not separated from the origin and local culture, this souvenir shop offers visitors to participate in exploring and feeling the spiritual footprint of Bromo through the spatial experience created. located in the Bromo 1 hiking area, Bale Dwiangsa Adiwarna is a haven that welcomes and greets visitors.

Spatial design of space is an adaptation of space philosophy in the traditional Javanese house and symbolization of the story of Roro Anteng and Jaka Seger-offerings of their youngest child, Kusuma. this spiritual element as if to guide visitors to enter the mountain Idea sketch, design is inspired from traditional Javanese house Joglo

SPATIAL ILLUSTRATION ROOMS AND ACTIVITIES located near the lounge, offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the magnificent bromo tourist area

gallery area on the terrace (Pendopo) as a transition into the main area, which greets the visitor with a variety of unique souvenirs

an area that offers an opportunity for visitors to see the process of cooking food while enjoying fresh dishes directly from the kitchen

various souvenirs are displayed around the walls of buildings with shelves in harmony with the walls

various service room zones, with integrated green area as inner court

Shape transformation Inspired by shapes like mountains, by adding square geometry elements as Bale Dalem. The design also adapts the layout of the Joglo house which creates a terrace (Pendopo) which is then integrated with the green area or inner court.

Kartini Heritage Street Workshop Urban Development 2019 I Live Design Discourse 2019 Bangka Design Team: M Faris Azim (Malaysia)(leader), Adibah Nasir (Malaysia) Darwin Setiawan (Indonesia), Maria Chirstmastyani (Indonesia) Pangkal Pinang, Bangka Belitung

The project aims to increase the potential value of heritage area in Pangkal Pinang city, Bangka Belitung.

Located at Kartini street, the design tries to interwine heritage buildings in this area.

Proposing the idea of Walking Museum, our design initiated by three basic concept they are Connectivity, Continuity, adn Time Travel.

Connectivity is the element which design intended to give the visitors real life experience through the journey along pathway (skywalk), connecting to the context.

Continuity is an effort to design with sense of inviting from one checkpoint to another one on the skywalk without interrupting traffic below.

Time Travel is the key where design is incorporated with identity and element of history and heritage by placement of story telling board and ambience created.

The Identity of Bangka Belitung

The design derived from the axis of the Kartini road which forms the basis of the skywalk arrangement.

Then zoning is based on the use and context of each zone. The boundary of each zone is marked by a crossroads. Design still incorporates the green element by interweaving the skywalk with the existing trees and activating negative spaces and unused buildings

The Spiral Ramp of user friendly and create interesting pathway to connect the visitor to the park and elevated pathway

The Family & Children Park for recreational activities incorporated into design scheme to create liveable neighbourhood

The elevated pathway design is connected to existing amphiteatre to create continuity and connectivity for visitors to enjoy

The Observatory Platform act like a Trail Beacon as to create sense of inviting by adapting design of Kapal Keruk for Tin Mining

The massive Cultural Canopy designed as to tie together the whole heritage housing area to become centralised plaza underneath

The Triangle Plaza loop helps to navigate visitor to continue the trail in term of wayfinding to return to the main spine
