Usability

Usability is the study of ease of use, of how quickly someone can understand how to use a particular human-made object and how easily they can use it. The object of use can be a website, book, tool, machine, process, or anything a human must interact with. Usability study may be conducted as a primary job function by a usability analyst or as a secondary function by designers, technical writers, marketing personnel, and others. It is widely used in consumer electronics, communication, and knowledge transfer objects (such as a cookbook, a document or online help) and mechanical objects such as a door handles or a hammer.
