BIOGRAPHY

After attending NYU’s Gallatin School majoring in Philosophy, Nzingha Stewart found her true passion as a filmmaker and began directing music videos, eventually racking up over a hundred MTV & BET hits (and award nominations) for artists like Joss Stone, Eve, Common, The Roots, Jay-Z & Fifty Cent. An equally in-demand commercial director, she has also filmed clips for ESPN, McDonalds, Coors Light, and more. Boards Magazine named her as one of the nation’s Top 10 Live Action Directors. Elle Magazine puts her at the “forefront of the music scene,” Nylon Magazine says her work has “pushed the myopic boundaries of what videos should look like,” and Vibe Magazine featured her as an A-List director. She has recently crossed over into the world of Features and Television as Executive Producer on the Lionsgate feature film For Colored Girls, Director of BET’s The Game, The Vow for Edmonds Entertainment and Codeblack (which she is also attached to direct), a teleplay for Sony TV with Oscarwinning producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, and a screenplay with Wendy Finerman Productions (“Forest Gump”, “The Devil Wears Prada”). She is currently an ABC and NBC Directing Fellow and is writing the remake of The Flamingo Kid for Disney as well as a recently sold pilot for Lionsgate TV & Kelsey Grammar’s Grammnet.
