EULOGY TO INDIA’S DAUGHTER “…All Indians are my brothers and sisters… …To my country and my people, I pledge my devotion. In their prosperity alone lies my happiness”
D
ecember 16th 2012 these lines were silenced more
than it had ever been. An aspiring young girl was shredded by six heartless men and thrown into the hands of death. Now as the youth of India mourn this obscure incident, first of all an authentic salute to each and every voice that has risen to the occasion. This spontaneous spark that has grew into a forest fire shall hopefully mark the beginning of redefinition of a new era where the citizens of the country especially the youth shall no longer be dumb fold towards the lethargic reactions of the government. Instead an answer will be drawn for every innocent anguish that were so far whitewashed. The demands of these citizens portray that the youth shall no longer tolerate the mishandling of power and poor implementation of laws. We shall step up and speak for ourselves for as its true meaning, the democracy is most importantly “of and by the people”.

The protesting youth have clearly understood that the government is what we make out of it. If we need the best possible government then squeeze the best out of it. What is a free country if a girl cannot feel secure and utilise her freedom to the utmost! Sadder scenario is the fact that two women, including a journalist were harassed even during the protest. If this is still the case then what is the point of the whole nation mourning for so long? Leaders like Sonia Gandhi and Jaya Bachchan have said that the young girl’s death shall not go in vain and that the voice of the nation has been heard. If this was true then an immediate and an equivalent punishment alone can prove the government’s quotes. Let the sweat and pain of youth not go futile. The Police have decided to prepare a thousand page charge sheet against the accused, which is to be applauded

EULOGY TO INDIA’S DAUGHTER but then the case also
shouldn’t be a thousand day schedule. Immediate justice should be given to the soul and thus an answer to her parents and the nation. The youngsters were motivated by the boldness of the victim for even in her fragile state, she managed to place the truth to the sub-judicial not once but twice. The courageous girl fought for her life for about 13 days until she couldn’t anymore for her brain had suffered severe injury. She, through her fight has set an example and also kindled a silent revolution which is the need of the hour for the nation. The youth around the nation gathered holding candles to pay their respect to the departed soul. Processions were also held in places like Bangalore showing the deep grief that the nation is struck with. Her fight is the fight of the nation. A Fight against carelessness, ineffective laws and a warning by the nation to show its true power. This is a fight not only by girls but also by a large number of boys and men who want to
-misbehaviour by their own race. The expressions of these fiery bloods should be taken with utmost sincerity by those in power and necessary and threatening settlements need be made. Women everywhere should be made to feel more secure. Martial arts or at least basic self-defence should be made an integral part of any girl’s curriculum. Like in china, basic martial arts should be taught right in the childhood so that each one can save themselves and needn’t ever feel defenceless in any situation. Cameras need be installed in all buses and other transport facilities and public places. Control rooms should be set up and special police should be available on the call to attend to such emergencies at the zero hour itself. Sexual harassment should be treated equal to murder. In our present case it has unfortunately been proven right. India 2020 shall no longer be a far dream. The young voices have clearly made a point that “We the youth of India are ready to build India 2020! We shall not bear anything or anybody who try to ruin the dream of our nation. The power of youth shall no longer be a metaphor. We are no longer dormant and so shouldn’t be the government.” Once again a Proud salute to the youth of our nation. Let us not stop

RAJNISM An ever growing fervour The world was curious about the date 12/12/2012 because of the fact that it would be the last repetitive date of the millennia, as it was just 9 days before the supposed Dooms day. But Tamil cinema fans all over the world had something more to marvel and rejoice. It was the birthday of a phenomenon, the birthday of Superstar Rajinikanth. If one signed in on Facebook, one would be sure to see his/her newsfeed overflowing with status updates and pictures of Rajinikanth. You would have been imprudent if you had not “liked” or “shared” the post that said “The world will not end on 21st of December, 2012 because Rajini’s birthday falls on this month!” or the one that said “Rajini has postponed the end of the world as a gift to his fans for his birthday!” Such is the passion that we all hold for this one man- Rajini. Tamil cinema celebrated its most stylish son’s birthday in grandeur. On that cloudy day, as fans gathered at YMCA for a birthday celebration, with shouts and slogans praising their beloved idol, stars poured in to wish DASHING MAGAZINE

-Superstar a very happy birthday. You could almost hear their hearts pounding with the sound of Rajini’s name making an unison anthem . It was not just the fact that it was Superstar’s birthday that made all of them gather in awe, but also for the rumours that this birthday of his was all the more special because, as Facebook posts popularly said, “12+12+12=36 Rajini’s favourite number. If you reverse that, it’s 63, his age this birthday!” It was dream come true for the hundreds of people gathered there when Rajinikanth himself graced them with his presence. The chorus bellowed by the fans was so loud that one wouldn’t be able to hear himself talking. As Rajini took his stand at the podium, the cheers died down to pin-drop silence in respect and awe as their idol spoke. Rajini thanked his fans for such an overwhelming surprise and love showered upon him. INEXPLICA Miss Tamilnadu & Miss Madras SRUTHI shares her experience and future plans - Exclusive interview
Sruthi was in Hyderabad. We were getting together after ages. I cannot even remember when the previous time was. So much had changed since – also that Sruthi had become a celebrity. We met at a close by café that serves the most amazing desserts. We hugged andsquealed in excitement and hugged again; it felt like meeting a long lost friend. We had so much catching up to do. But we had business to finish before anything else. I greeted her formally, as apposite for an interview; we shook hands and sat down at a table. We ordered some yum sounding stuff and we began our conversation there.

I sparked off the conversation as I asked Sruthi how she got into modeling, cause the last time I saw her she was my favorite college senior and an electrical engineering student in Amrita’s lab uniform. She smiled eloquently at my question. That told me how much things had changed and how far she had come since then. She began to recount her story. She had started with a simple performance in the fashion show as a part of the Onam celebrations at Infosys, Mysore. At that point, she had no clue about what awaited her. However,I was certain that the organizer, who Sruthi referred to as Pran, took no time to notice the talent inherent in her, because it had always been evident and conspicuous.

WOMEN The Real Beauty India is in shock of the gang rape incident and the people have started to raise their voice against this heinous crime through different platforms like protest, social media etc.
The very thought of this crime is very disturbing to an extent that it instills in the people an urge to avenge the accused by giving the maximum possible punishment and if possible a new trend setting one such that it instills a sense of security to the vulnerable and fear in the criminals. What I personally think is an eye for an eye is not the answer to this situation .I do not mean the accused must not be hanged or jailed and I am in no position to pass such judgment for those responsibilities lie with the most sacred place called court.

A 23 year old medical college girl along with her male friend boarded a charted bus at Munirka for Dwarka around 9:30pm on 16th Dec. 2012. The male friend was beaten up and knocked unconscious with an Iron rod when he became suspicious as the bus deviated from normal route. The girl was brutally gang raped by six men in the bus. After the beating and the rape ended both were thrown out of moving bus. This has created a mass movement among the people of India demanding justice for the girl, to fast track the court proceedings. Sadly on 29th December the victim lost a brave fight for survival due to several injuries and complications including brain damage, pneumonia, abdominal infection . Her body was cremated on 30 December at Delhi under high police security. The movement for justice is still going strong and people ,organizations from all over the globe has rendered their support for the girl and girls family.
Taking my point “an eye for an eye is not an answer” is because for now we the people of India are driven by the thought of vengeance, anger and frustration which is clouding our ability for clear vision. The gang rape is just a result of a core problem in our society. What is the use if we just erase the wrong line of the program when the whole program

YOUTH
A few years back, only men wearing black coats carried laptops with them for business. Approaching 2013, we notice teens or pre-teens carrying a smartphone,a PSP,an ipod and laptop for personal use. Teenage in itself is taking a new definition by diversifying the modes of interaction for teenagers. This keeps getting interesting as technology is developing to meet present day needs. Teenagers want the gizmo to smoothen their lives. They are very much attracted by these gadgets as it keeps them occupied and makes life cool and interesting..But their parents are not happy about this development.. Parents feel that more than the money, the time teenagers spend on gadgets and games can be put to better use by studying or enduring a physical activity. More number of teens wear spectacles due to aberrant vision. Teenage, being the transition period from childhood to adolescence, plays a major role in understanding themselves.
Living in the internet age, we appreciate its importance. While browsing for hours together, we have completely ignored the ill effects of internet addiction. Internet addiction is becoming a common phenomenon among teens. It is very essential for both parents and teenagers to understand the merits and demerits of the virtual world. I really don't understand why teenagers are so obsessed with social networking sites. Remaining online for hours, parents complain that their wards do not spend enough time with them. Their social life revolves around Facebook and Twitter and very less on outdoor activities, leading to social detachment in real life. While it is accepted that internet is important aspect of one’s life the need has arisen for us to know the art of balancing real life and social life especially for teenagers. Now, let’s see some points which will help one achieving the much needed balance in life.

Teens are never aware that they are affected by peer pressure. Parents and teachers have to make the teenagers understand that nothing is gained by doing what others do. They must help them cope up with peer pressure and develop in their wards an art of saying NO to their peers when they are not really willing to do something. I call it an art because one cannot simply say NO in a group unless he is very tactful, diplomatic and cool. Such is the quality the parents, teachers must strive to develop.
