Sunak chaired his first Cabinet meeting today at Number 10 Downing Street after he informed King Charles to form a new government. Sunak was criticised by many MPs for the reappointment of Suella Braverman as Home Secretary six days after she resigned and also admitted she had broken ministerial codes by sending a document in her private email to a colleague. She has apologised for that and the new Prime Minister has considered her apology. Rishi appointed his cabinet ministers from all factions of the party. Dominic Raab returns as Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary, Jeremy Hunt as Chancellor, and Michael Gove as Levelling-up Secretary. Cleverly Ben Wallace as Defence Secretary, Penny Mordaunt as Common Leader, Therese Coffey as Environment Secretary. Jeremy Hunt replaced Kwasi Kwarteng in October and will continue his task as Chancellor of the Exchequer. Grant Shapps, who had replaced Ms Braverman as home secretary, was appointed as business secretary on Tuesday. James Cleverly and Ben Wallace will continue as foreign secretaries and defence secretaries respectively. Steve Barclay, who supported both of Mr Sunak's bids for the Tory leadership, became health secretary. Others who handed back their previous posts were Kemi Badenoch, the trade secretary, and Michelle Donelan, the culture secretary. Therese Coffey, one of Ms Truss's closest friends in Westminster, was demoted from deputy prime minister and health secretary to become environment secretary. Gillian Keegan became the fifth education secretary in just under four months as part of the reshuffle. Sir Gavin also returns to government as a minister without portfolio in the Sunak's Cabinet Office. Nadhim Zahawai was appointed as a Minister without a portfolio and Conservative Chair. Mark Harper is the new transport Secretary; Victoria Prentis is Attorney General in Sunak's new Cabinet. Simon Hart as new Chief Whip. Tom Tugendhat has been reappointed as Security Minister. Robert Buckland. Johnny Mercer as Veteran's Affairs Minister. Seven of the Cabinet are Women.
