Scattering ashes at sea, also known as a burial at sea, is a celebrated tradition dating back to early human history and spanning many faiths. Symbolically, scattering a loved one’s ashes at sea represents setting the spirit free from the constraints of the physical body in many cultures. Your ash scattering can be personalized to reflect your faith.
Multiple vessels are available to choose from, all Coast Guard approved and operated by licensed and professional Captains and crew, for a peaceful and dignified final farewell from Dana Point, California.
Ash scattering prices vary and are based on a variety of factors including your customized charter preferences.

Catering
Adding refreshments to your ash scattering is a great way to honor your loved one by including their favorite food or beverage. Or, celebrate their life with a champagne toast!
We can provide food and beverages for you or arrange for a caterer. Catering prices may vary.
Commemorative Photos
Our professional photographer or drone operator may be available to take photos or videos of the ash scattering. Digital copies will be provided so you can share with family and friends. Please let us know if you have a special photography request.
Customizable Timing
Your ash scattering at sea can be customized to your preferred time frame. Depending on the boat, there is a minimum of 90 minutes to two hours.
Ashes are typically scattered off the coast of Dana Point or South Laguna Beach. Custom locations are available with advance request.
Wildlife Viewing
Flowers
Floral arrangements, ocean friendly biodegradable wreaths, or flower petals add a beautiful touch to any ash scattering.
Ask your charter coordinator about extending the length of the trip to see wildlife! Dana Point is the Dolphin and Whale Watching Capital of the World®. Magnificent whales, playful dolphins, silly sea lions, and more can be seen throughout the year.
Minister or Officiant
During the ash scattering, attendees are welcome to share their thoughts, poems, and memories.
We can arrange for a minister or officiant to say a few words. They'll work with you to create the perfect memorial for your loved one. Minister prices may vary.

Military Honors
Before being committed to the sea, your veteran can receive formal military honors which may include a flag presentation and the playing of Taps. Please ask your charter coordinator for a referral.
Custom Certificate
A digital (print available on request) keepsake certificate, customized with your loved one's name, date, and location of their memorial is provided for each ash scattering at no additional charge.
