Research Articulated Environments Created Through Entropy Fueled Kinetic Material, 2010 - 2011
- Worked with Dr. Patrick Mather in Syracuse Universities Biomaterial’s Department to research architectural applications for experimental materials - Developed a production method to utilize a Shape Memory Polymer as a heat activated muscle to realize kinetic structures - Established a “proof of concept” in a heat responsive physical model - Extrapolated the kinetic reaction through digital modeling and simulation - Regulated the extrapolation with digital analysis informed by Dynamic Mechanical Analysis of the polymer
Integrated Wind Technologies into the Built Environment, Fall 2008, Fall 2009
- Assisted Professor P. Michael Pelken in his research, design development, and production - Worked with the SU Computational Fluid Dynamics laboratory to develop a form that will maximize the force that wind exerts on a turbine - Fabricated a prototype utilizing a CNC mill for wind tunnel analysis to validate the digital model - Assisted members of the engineering school to develop this form into a working prototype for a self-sustaining street lamp - Edited and produced research materials for competition & publication submissions
