FAIR TRADE Elvang Denmark operates in a socially responsible manner. Elvang is Fair Trade certified. This means for example that alpaca shepherds receive the full market price for their wool. Our suppliers buy wool at a fair price and skip middle men, so the shepherds get the highest possible price. Furthermore the suppliers train rural shepherds in the shearing and breeding techniques, assisting farmers to harvest better wool. The result is a higher and fair price for their wool as well as the preservation of the quality of the alpaca fibers. Elvang supports a millennia-old tradition of weaving textiles of Alpaca by keeping the production in Peru. In doing so we help to fight the acute rural poverty which is very much a day-to-day reality in Peru.

Det står Elvang Denmark nært at operere socialt ansvarligt og vi er Fair Trade certificeret. Det betyder bl.a. at alpakahyrderne sikres den fulde markedspris for deres uld. Vores væveri betaler en fair pris for alpakaulden og springer mellemhandlere over, så hyrderne får den højeste mulige pris. Uddannelse af hyrderne i opdræts- og avlsmetoder, samt rigtig klipning af alpakaen sikrer endvidere, at hyrderne får et større udbytte, en bedre og mere fair pris ligesom kvaliteten af alpakafibre bevares. Ved at fastholde produktionen i Peru, støtter Elvang en årtusind gammel tradition om at væve tekstiler af alpaka uld. Alpakaens uld er en vigtig indtægtskilde i Peru og dermed et middel til bekæmpelse af fattigdom.

ALPACA WOOL – natural fibres with many excellent qualities ABOUT THE ALPACA The alpaca is a member of the camel family and resides primarily in the Peruvian Andes Mountain at 3000-5000 meters above sea level. The alpaca lives in a very harsh climate where the temperature can fluctuate up to 50 degrees Celcius within 24 hours – from minus 25 degrees at night to 25 degrees during the day. The unique qualities of the alpaca wool make it among one of the finest fibres in the world.

OM ALPAKAEN Alpakaen er medlem af kamelfamilien og lever fortrinsvist i de Peruvianske Andesbjerge i 3000-5000 meters højde. Alpakaen lever i ekstremt barske klimaforhold, hvor temperaturen kan svinge op til 50 grader inden for et enkelt døgn - fra 25 graders frost om natten til 25 graders varme om dagen. Alpakauldens særlige egenskaber gør at den regnes blandt verdens mest luksuriøse.

SUPER SOFTNESS The fibres of the alpaca wool are fine and thin and textiles made of alpaca wool are thus very soft. Baby alpaca wool is extra fine and soft and primarily comes from the first cut of the alpacas.

SUPER BLØDHED Alpakauldens fibre er fine og tynde, og tekstiler af alpakauld er derfor meget bløde. Baby alpakauld er ekstra fint og blødt og stammer primært fra den første klipning af alpakaen.

WARM LIGHTWEIGHT The fibres of the alpaca wool are semi-hollow, giving alpaca fibre added insulating value. We use this quality to weave extra fine and thin textiles that will still keep one warm.

VARM LETHED Alpakauldens fibre indeholder små mikroskopiske luftbobler, der giver dem enestående isoleringsegenskaber. Denne egenskab benytter vi til at væve tekstiler i en meget fin og tynd kvalitet, som stadig holder en varm.

HARD WEARING The structure of the alpaca fibre makes it harder wearing than other wool fibres such as sheep wool and cashmere. Therefore alpaca products last for many years. MINIMUM PILLING The smoothness of the alpaca fibres, combined with a special technique of weaving, minimize our product pilling. NATURAL COLOURS Alpaca wool comes in more than 20 natural colors including white, grey, gold, brown and black. No other natural fibre comes in the same variety of natural colours. DIRT REPELLENT Both alpaca wool and sheep wool are dirt repellent. Our products tolerate daily use for many years and maintain their appearance.

FNUGGER MINIMALT Alpakauldens glatte fibre kombineret med særlige væveteknikker gør, at vores produkter fnugger minimalt. NATURFARVER Fra naturens side forekommer alpakaulden i stort set alle naturfarver - råhvid, grå, gylden, brun og sort - i alt over 20 nuancer. Ingen anden naturfiber findes i samme mangfoldighed af farvenuancer. SMUDSAFVISENDE Både alpakauld og fåreuld er smudsafvisende og selvrensende. Derfor kan vores produkter modstå daglig brug i mange år og stadig se ud som nye.

Lines crisscross and create contrast and vibrancy. It’s a design which creates a balance between the classic and timeless and forward-thinking modernism. The pattern looks like a stone mosaic and the name of the throws is therefore INCA STONES. The gift box is made from a material that is biodegradable and recyclable. On each of the products a hang tag with cleaning instructions, information about Elvang Denmark and the alpaca, is attached. In addition a small folder is enclosed in the gift box. Plaider, tørklæder og varmedunke leveres i en flot gaveæske. Gaveæske tilkøbes til siddeunderlag. Gaveæsken er fremstillet i et bionedbrydeligt og genanvendeligt materiale. På hvert produkt findes et vedhæng, der indeholder en plejeanvisning, samt en beskrivelse af ELVANG og alpakaen.
