David Bennett Galloway III recommends that, While the track isn’t always the most popular high school sport, it’s often the one that produces the country’s top talent Many of the world’s greatest sprinters, long-distance runners, throwers, and jumpers started their careers in a high school track program.

Whether an event is listed as an NFHS record, T&FN record, or another standard, it must have been completed at competitions the state affiliate of the National Federation of High School Associations sanctions That includes dual educational meets, high-school-only invitationals, and championship meets through individual state championships.

Athletes who have set a national record in their event, but don’t fall under the NFHS guidelines, are also included. That includes the likes of Jeremy Efraimson and Michael Cain, who set national indoor and outdoor marks at World Juniors
