Get rid of old CDs- CDs are shiny like mirror from both sides, so using them to get a mirror effect could be a good idea. CDs are flexible and be easily be broken into small pieces. I CDs into small pieces of random shape and stuck those pieces on the sides of a mirror. Slight shades that appear in CD gave an effect of antique mirror work. I used these tiny pieces of CD on multiple things like my window frame, a regular discarded plate and the mirror off course. Idea worked well and looked stunning when rays of sunlight kissed these objects.
Use old glass jars as hanging lights- We have seen many places reusing old glass jars as lamp shades. However, to fix lights inside these jars and then install safely in your house would need expert help. So if you wish to have some hanging lights without calling for your electrician replace lights with candles. All you need to do is wrap aluminium wires around the rim of the jar. Make it tight if required use glue and stick the wire around the jar. Now take another longer piece of wire and entangle it with the wire on two opposite sides of the jar rim. Place a candle inside the jar and hand it anywhere you wish.
Use empty liquor bottles to light up your place- Take all your empty bottles and use them to bring a complete new look to your home. This idea is really simple. Take four or five of your vacant bottles fill them with strip lights of different colour. You could also use different colour glass bottles and stuff them with same colour strip lights. Now arrange these bottles where ever you wish to.
Make a stylish bag using your old pair of denims- What do you do with your old denims. If you give to people who need it all kudos to you and keep up the good work. However, if they are simply taking space in your wardrobe, you need to get those pieces out and use them in the most stylish way you could imagine. Cut away the legs of your denims and stitch the open holes. Attach a belt or strip of fabric from the legs to make the handle of your bag. You can carry this for any casual outing.
Make candle stand using old bangles or bracelets- Take out all of your colourful vibrant bangles which you have not worn since ages. Stick them in a way that one piles on top of the other. Cover one of the open ends using a plastic or metal disk. Light a candle inside and place it anywhere you like.
These are some of simple and doable tips you can use for home decor.
