Milan Youth Expo Supervisors prof. Serena Maffioletti prof. Luca Velo Location Milan, Italy Work setting Masterplan: 3 people teamwork Housing project: individual

Urban regeneration of a dismissed military complex. Architecture project for an under-35/ student housing building. The urban regeneration of a dismissed military complex allowed to think about the theme of the urban isolate. The area was originally closed by a wall and, after its demolition, the masterplan works on the isolate perimeter redefinition, by introducing a contemporary composition of walls and by reinforcing with new volumes the northern angles. A layering of paths and outdoor public spaces complete the ground floor design of the area. The functional program feeds the demand for spaces dedicated to young people: a taller under-35 housing building relates to the city, and a lower student housing complex relates to the park design. The housing project is based on the obsession for providing to its inhabitants the best conditions to interact. At the first floor there are common kitchens, dining rooms, relax and study areas. Furthermore, the section shifting of the access balconies, zenithally illuminated, plus the bendings of the apartment interior walls, which create some tiny views, are all solution that try to make people meet and share their lifes. 6

Cohousing: Sharing Lifes Supervisors arch. Massimo Cattaneo arch. Nicola Baserga arch. Alessandro Zara

New masterplan for the Locarno ex-slaughterhouse area. Architecture design of a cohousing building, focusing on social and ambiental soustainability.

Final critic guests arch. Emanuele Saurwein arch. Monique Bosco-von Allmen

The individual theme concerned the project of a cohousing building, and the Mehr als Wohnen project built by Duplex Architekten in Zurich in 2015, was taken as the main tipology reference: a cluster of small apartments are ordered in the plan, keeping some voids to introduce common spaces as kitchens, dining rooms and relax areas. In this kind of work it’s crucial to set up a strong hierarchy between circulation and living spaces. For this reason an important lesson is taken directly from the historic city: analysing the articulation of the urban spaces is recognisable the hierarchy between streets and plazas, and this guided the composition of the building’s floorplans. Finally, the project highly invests on energetic and material soustainability. The apartments are the only heated spaces, conceipts as wooden self-supporting boxes; the common spaces benefit form the solar contribution, thanks to the large openings on the south front and to the smaller ones on the north front. Finally, the natural ventilation helps to avoid the summer overheating.

Tavern in the Prosecco Valley Supervisors prof. Pier Antonio Val prof. Valeria Tatano Location Valdobbiadene (Treviso), Italy Work setting 2 people teamwork Personal roles: architectural design, 3D modeling, construction, rendering.

Extension of the existing tavern “Alla Terrazza” with new B&B chambers and restaurant space. In-deep analysis on stone construction. In the suggestive territory of the Treviso’s hills, land of the italian Prosecco wine, there are many taverns that offer a direct production-somministration of this product. One of them is the object of this design proposal. In particular, the exixting spaces are expanded by the addition of one volume that opens to the vineyard landscape, and that contains two bed&breakfast chambers, one new restaurant space, and the vertical circulation to access the existing terrace. The main compositive effort was to clearely show the time of the new addition, and the final architectural design was inspired by architect Alvaro Siza’s language. The two main materials chosen are concrete and the Pietra di Vicenza, characterised by a soft yellow shading. Against the idea of using stone just as a coating, it was used also as a structural material.

Museum of Memory Supervisors prof. Mauro Marzo Location Collalto (Treviso), Italy Work setting 3 people team work Personal roles: 3D modeling, architectural design, construction, rendering.

Adaptive reuse and volumetric rebuilding of a middle-evil castle, demolished after a World War I bombing. The project insert, inside the area of the castle, a system of spaces related to the museum tipology. The first theme faced regards the accessibility: the strong height differences of the ground floor are taken as material of project, and led to the creation of a single promenade, in order to provide to everyone the same experience, and not creating inequalities. So, a long, slightly leaned ramp, put beside the ruins of the defensive wall, allows the access to the main area. There, four new volumes contain the main expositive space, a conference room, a bookshop and a bar, both connected to a panoramic terrace. The new additions work together with the existing walls, in order to structurally reinforce them. All the new architectures are realised by using steel piles and beams, and the external coating is made by copper, chosen because of the adaptability of its colours, from a brown metal to a textured green, that well adapts to the landscape. Inside the tower, and by using the existing one too, the promenade continues with a series of stairs and corridors that realise the expositive spaces. 26
