Exhibit Preface
Native American Pottery & Culture Exhibit
The Native American Pottery & Culture Exhibit showcases history, pottery, and lifestyle of the Native American people of the southwestern United States. This exhibit was carefully designed for Red Square, located within the Design School North building at Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. This exhibit contains a high level of interactivity throughout the various experiences. Drawing from references of Navajo history, culture and architecture, the space is designed to mimic a traditional Hogan structure. The entire exhibit is plated with cedar plank panels for a visual aesthetic quality, but also to entice the olfactory sense. The main timeline video screen that runs horizontally throughout 4 of the circle wall structures is completely adaptable by the viewer. As the image, body copy, and year unit scroll across the video surface, the viewer can stop the movement, expand the text content and play videos associated with the image. Another interactive experience is the static pottery wall that showcases iconic Native American pottery through the past four centuries. Text content is motion-activated on the video wall located behind the pottery so when a viewer is not present in front of the glass, the video wall shows time-lapse scenes, texture and color patterns, and local imagery. When a viewer walks up to or across the exhibit, the video transfers to text content for reading and education. The last two interactive experiences offer kid-friendly interactivity with a clay “Hold & Mold” display and a “What’s in the Pottery?” hide-n-seek activity. The central space has a series of video projections that display high impact imagery and video scenes of Native American pottery and culture. Throughout the exhibit, high value was added to the user responsive interactivity with the static exhibits to enhance the content, messaging, and excitement for the viewer. This manual was created as a reference guide to constructing the exhibit. Each component is diagramed and dimensioned to achieve an ideal representation of Native American Pottery & Culture.

Under recommended (typical) operating conditions, brightness/color matching is enabled across the canvas. However, if brightness and color matching is disabled, higher brightness and power levels are achievable; up to 110 watts per tile. When designing a cooling or electrical system, this maximum design limit of 110W (375 BTUs/hr) should be used to ensure a reasonable safety factor. Refer to the Christie MicroTiles Specification and Application Guide, available on christiedigital.com, for more details.
