Having always enjoyed sketching and drawing as a hobby, I chose to take up Industrial Design at University to improve my skills and give my sketching a more practical direction. I feel that my sketching has its own unique and recognisable style and I am able to iterate ideas quickly,.

I consider myself to be a fast learner and pick up new skills at a fast pace, especially when learning new software. I enjoy group work and believe I am a valuable member to any design team. Having played team sports from an early age I understand how to cooperate with others effectively.

Design Experience Northumbria University 2011 – Present Currently studying Year 2 of Design for Industry at Northumbria University, Newcastle. Paticipated in a number of live projects with established companies such as Intel, Unliever and Philips. Surreal Creative 2010 Work placement at a Graphic Design firm for 2 weeks. Whilst on the placement I undertook a packaging and design project for a new console game. During the project I was using Photoshop for the first time. However, I quickly adapted and this was recognisedby the office and reflected in their report. Dunwoodie Architecture 2009 Work Placement at an Architects firm for 2 weeks. On this placement I designed and deveoped a lakeside property renovation. I carried initial sketches and ideas through to a final autoCAD drawing and rendered ‘Sketch Up’ presentation.
DAB Radio This brief challenge me to design a digital radio with respect to a set of constraints, including dimensions and number of components. The design process included initial sketchwork, leading to line drawings in Adobe Illustrator and the final design being rendered in Adobe Photoshop.
Pen Sketches
Bike Light Sketches
Sneaker Design This was an individual project which challenged us to design one bespoke pair of sneakers. We were given scope to research our own interests and build them into the final design, which was rendered in Adobe Photoshop.
LUP DATA SNEAKER RANGE v1.2 EYE-CATCHING RANGE OF ATHLETIC FASHION FOOTWEAR. SUEDE AND MESH. RUBBER SOLE. RED/CHARCOAL/WHITE.
‘Disaster Relief’ This project challenged me to design a product which would aid the publicin the event of a disaster. For my case study, I chose post-disaster relief camps, and attempted to tackle the hygiene issues of large quantites of people living together in an area with limited water supplies.
DISEASE SPREADS FAST:
AND EVEN FASTER IN A PACKED RELIEF CAMP DUE TO CLOSE PROXIMITY AND POPULATION DENSITY. THE MAIN INITIAL CAUSES OF DISEASE IN THESE AREAS ARE POOR SANITATION, LACK OF CLEAN DRINKING WATER AND CONTAMINATED FOOD.
REDUCE ILLNESS:
REDUCE DEATH:
FATAL ILLNESSES SUCH AS DIARRHEA AND PNEMONIA ARE COMMON IN RELIEF CAMPS
HANDWASHING COULD PREVENT AND PROTYECT 1 IN 3 CHILDREN SICK WITH DIARRHEA
WASHING HANDS REGULARLY CAN REDUCE DIARRHEA VICTIMS BY 31%, ILLNESS IN PEOPLE WITH A WEAKENED IMMUNE SYSTEM BY 58% AND 20% OF ALL RESPIRATORY ILLNESSES.
HANDWASHING COULD PREVENT AND PROTECT 1 IN 6 CHILDREN SICK WITH PNEMONIA. WASHING HANDS WITH SOAP CAN BE 4X MORE EFFECTIVE THAN WITH WATER ALONE
STORY BOARD: FINAL PRODUCT:
SANISTATION TACKLES RAPID SPREAD OF DISEASE IN DISASTER RELIEF CAMPS.
EXPLODED VIEWS:
HANDS ARE CLEANED USING ALCOHOL BASED GEL, ALLOWING WATER TO BE USED FOR DRINKING AND KEEPING PEOPLE ALIVE. IT IS FOOT POWERED TO STOP THE SPREAD OF BACTERIA FROM HANDS TO MOUTHS AND FOOD ETC. TELESCOPIC POLE MEANS SPACE SAVING WHEN NOT BEING USED OR BEING TRANSPORTED TO A RELIEF CAMP.
‘The Big Shave’ This was a team-based project which challenged us to design an electric shaver, appealing to the emerging 13-16 year old market..
RESEARCH DRIVEN PRODUCT SPECIFICATION: UNDERSTANDING We found shaving can be embarrassing for 13-16 year olds making their interaction with their shaver a personal one. We wanted to make them feel more confident and comfortable with shaving through our final result.
GROWTH Our target market was not always ready for the finished product in shaving, many feeling overwhelmed to use a men’s shaver. We liked the idea of a growing product that would perform more suitably to the users needs as they aged.
GIFT Due to the percieved embarrassment of shaving, our target market often asked for shavers as a present from their mothers. We tried to focus on this relationship mainly through our marketing campaign to make both parties trust our product
3D Modelling This was an individual, computer based brief which challenged us to create a product consisting of 4 or more components using Solidworks 2013. I chose the Hasbro 1998 product, ‘Bop It Extreme’ and created a final assembly consisting of 16 parts.
