idea: dashboard(s) customised by the user (employee / manager) can push content to the user for them to react to. this can be anything from reminders, approving leave requests, cart approvals, sales quotes lookup, customer briefing data, account intelligence and so on‌ most of this content could be significant due to timelines based on calendars. an employee's or manager's workday can be divided into 2 types: 1. pre-planned activities this is where the person is involved in ongoing and longterm work activity such as continuing research or technical activity; coding, programming, wireframing, emails, meetings, incoming calls, and general weekly administrative tasks which are automatically part of the job. 2. reactive activities this is where the employee or manager typically reacts to various incoming tasks and data. i.e. these tasks might be part of their job, but their ongoing nature requires monitoring of some sort, and therefore is subject to human memory and can often be derailed by multiple other distractions or just an inability to track all data and tasks, all the time.

What an Apps Suite should deliver: - role-based content customisation and deployment - customizable content containers to the user's needs - provide minimal functionality to content within a dashboard - provide some level of seamless enterprise data aggregation within the user's dashboard (multiple types of content from multiple apps in the suite - but integrated and interoperable) - some offline behaviours - where some updates can be cached for later action (automated or manual) - seamlessly integrated content into one dashboard should provide a seamless, unified user experience when the user customizes their dashboard, their eyes should become quickly familiar with where to look and what to expect summary: - modular integrated content delivery - deploy bundled apps or pull content from a single app - role-based customisation dashboard - modular and bundled - interoperable - connectivity to any enterprise system - also third party apps - easily configurable and extensible

Rules & Guidelines for Dashboard 1. dashboard - customizable by user based on role - pulls data from apps in suite 2. point of dashboard - to provide employees / business people with 'reactive' content (most of a person's work involves reacting to information that they can not anticipate - it is pushed to them whereupon they react to it) 3. (Minimally) Actionable within container - point of having a module is to avoid deep dive into full app. 4. External content - can include third party apps / content 5. user-customised containers / modules have minimal functionality pertinent to the content type 6. role-based content - customised to modules in dashboard 5. modular content pulls data from apps in suite

Configurable / Extensible - content modules defined as metadata (XML), user can add / remove modules - modules provide basic functions per content (edit, accept, decline) so content can be interacted upon without 'deep dive' into app. - ui layout / styles defined in html5 and css. - third party app developer / client can use tools to create specific ui layout and branding App Development & Product Lifecycle - simple apps can be developed more quickly (configuration, less code, using ui templates where content comes first - utilizes current ui within dashboard / suite) - customer can extend standard ui style, create specific layouts which are not overwritten during upgrade Packaging & Deployment - developer / client might custom-create new app or dashboard by combining content from different modules (create new dashboard) - suite application: can be packaged as a binary, distributed via AppStores - app content ( metadata, html5, css, java) can be deployed separately to a container app
