David Krut Projects has activities in New York, Johannesburg and Cape Town. In the early 90s Krut facilitated a residency for Sam Nhlengethwa at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Following which he collaborated with William Kentridge on a series of etchings addressing the political change in South Africa. In 1997 Krut produced a pioneering CD-ROM on Kentridge. The David Krut Publishing activities continued in South Africa with the TAXI Art Book series, initiated in the mid 90s with funding and support from the French Institute. This

series, which concluded with the last two titles on Helen Sebidi and Paul Stopforth, created a platform for South African art historians and expanded the nascent art publishing industry in the country. In 2001 a gallery space was established in New York, attached to an etching studio, facilitating collaborations with local artist, as well as artists from across the African continent. The gallery has regularly exhibited works by artists from Africa, including El Anatsui’s first New York exhibition, and artists such as Christopher Cozier, Nnenna Okore, Chakaia Booker and

Cedric Nunn. In South Africa the David Krut Print Workshop (DKW) has become a resource for many of the country’s leading artists. Recent editions published by Krut include the work of young artists Senzo Shabangu and Mongezi Ncaphayi, as well as established artists such as William Kentridge, Diane Victor, Mary Sibande, Vusi Khumalo and Stephen Hobbs. The 2014 artist residence programme at the Workshop will host Godfried Donkor (Ghana), Endale Desalegne Chmisso (Ethiopia) and Wycliffe Mundopa (Zimbabawe).
